Chapter 158 The Rival's Hostility

Lauren hid her feelings well. She felt that she and Sophia could never sit down and have a calm conversation.

But she still suppressed her disappointment and sadness. At least in front of Sophia, she had to maintain the last bit of dignity she had.

Sophia also seemed serious, swearing, "Miss Walker, you really misunderstood us. I was kidnapped that day. The kidnappers were people Quentin, and I had offended before. They wanted revenge, so Quentin had to come to save me. Quentin is indeed a good man. He didn't choose to ignore me because of my past betrayal. But I knew it was a trap and couldn't warn him."

Sophia recalled the thrilling events of the past few days, still feeling a lingering fear. She believed she would die this time and never see Quentin, her crush, again.

"So, you two were still together for six days. During those six days, I went through hell. His choice clearly shows who weighs more in his heart," Lauren sneered.

'Did Sophia come to show off? Well, Sophia succeeded. I realized that their feelings are very deep,' Lauren thought.

Sophia sighed. She said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Miss Walker. If I had known your due date was these days, I would rather die than let Quentin leave you at this time."

"No, you don't owe me an apology. The choice is Quentin's. He can choose however he wants. It's his business, and I have no right to interfere," Lauren said.

Sophia found this remark to be sarcastic. Although she had investigated Lauren before, she didn't expect the online comments about Lauren to be so bad. It made her more determined to win Quentin back.

"Miss Walker, I know as an outsider, I shouldn't say anything to you. But you schemed to get into Quentin's bed. Since you're done, do you want to leave? What do you take him for?" Sophia said.

Lauren laughed in anger. She retorted, "Are you accusing me of being promiscuous now?"

Sophia suppressed her anger and said, "I've apologized and expressed what I had to say. I don't know what you're still hung up on. Yes, I still love Quentin, but neither of us has betrayed the other. If you truly love him, how can you bear to hurt him like this?"

Lauren saw Sophia's eloquence. She knew her image in Sophia's eyes wasn't good, but she didn't care to have a good impression in Sophia's eyes.

Lauren sarcastically remarked, "Love? Quentin chose you. Are you happy now? If so, cherish him. I don't care. And yes, I am the kind of woman who starts and ends relationships casually. Didn't you betray him too? So you have no right to judge me."

She added, "Sorry, I have things to do. Goodbye." Lauren smiled mockingly.

After saying these words, she ignored Sophia's angry face and turned to leave the coffee shop.

She didn't want to make things difficult for herself anymore, nor did she want to be wronged.

'Why should Sophia be able to criticize me? I am not a doormat for others to trample on!' Lauren thought.

Sophia exclaimed, enraged, "Fine, remember what you said today. From now on, Quentin's life and death have nothing to do with you, even if he dies because of you!"

Lauren's stubborn figure trembled slightly. She stiffly got into a taxi and left.

Sophia's face was contorted with anger. Lauren's words had deeply hurt her. Indeed, she had once betrayed her love with Quentin and the Robinson family. So even if she wanted to go back now to how things were, she had no chance to do so.

Sitting in the taxi, Lauren couldn't hold back anymore and silently cried. Even after learning the truth about Quentin's absence for so many days, her heart still ached.

Sophia openly admitted she still loved Quentin. So, would she and Quentin be together?

Now that everything was explained, reason told Lauren that she and Quentin couldn't go back. Though Sophia hadn't appeared in their relationship, her shadow was everywhere. Sophia's relationship with Quentin was a ticking time bomb that just exploded.

It was also good. Quentin and Sophia returned to the beginning while Lauren made a graceful exit.

Lauren cried so earnestly that she forgot she was still in the car. The driver didn't have the heart to disturb the sad Lauren and drove slowly on the wide road.

After a long time, Lauren came to her senses and apologized to the driver, telling him her destination. After fixing her makeup, she returned to Ethan's villa.

Sophia angrily told Quentin about her conversation with Lauren when he asked for news.

"Quentin, don't have any more hopes for Lauren. I think she approached you with a purpose from the beginning. Now that she's decided to leave, she must have found something better to pursue, so let her go!" Sophia said, looking at Quentin with pain.

Quentin was very surprised. He didn't understand why Sophia's attitude towards Lauren had changed so quickly.

He replied coldly, "You don't understand her. You don't know what we've been through."

"How could I not know? After I promised to help you that day, I went back and carefully investigated this Lauren. Only then did I find out how she got together with you? Quentin, wake up. Lauren is not worth your love!" Sophia said.

"Enough, stop talking. Since you can't help me, don't interfere in my affairs anymore. I have my own plans," Quentin loudly stopped Sophia.

Sophia's eyes widened in shock, looking at the angry Quentin.

Quentin had changed so much over the years. Was he actually angry at her for Lauren?

Sophia was heartbroken. At this moment, her eyes were burning with a fierce fire as if she wanted to devour Quentin.

"Quentin, we'll see!" Sophia shouted.

Matthew's one-month celebration was approaching, but Lauren needed more clarity about how to celebrate. Logically, Matthew's celebration should have been held at the Robinson family's house, but given her current relationship with Quentin, she didn't want to go back.

Ethan also knew that Lauren had been worried about Matthew's celebration recently. He felt sorry for her and wanted to help her solve it.

"Lauren, Matthew is almost a month old. Where do you plan to celebrate?" Ethan asked.

Every time Ethan returned to the villa, he looked for Lauren. He occasionally played with Matthew, and to the outside world, they seemed like a happy family.

Lauren knew Ethan was truly caring for them, especially when he was attentive to Matthew. Her gratitude for him grew, and she wondered whether it could become love.
