Chapter 224 Matthew is Young but Smart

Quentin smiled without saying a word. After saying goodbye to Jessica, Quentin drove Matthew to Ethan's villa.

Jessica watched Quentin and Matthew drive away, feeling very pleased.

Jessica said, "George, look at how close they are as father and son! Although they've never lived together, it doesn't affect their relationship at all. This must be what people call fate!"

George agreed, "Yes, now you can rest easy."

Jessica's smile froze on her face. "Rest easy? Maybe I'm too greedy. I even hope that Lauren can come back to this family. George, do you think I shouldn't meddle? However, I know I don't have much time left, so I can't help but worry!"

"What are you talking about? You're in good health. Don't scare yourself. Mr. Robinson finally reunited with Matthew, which is such a great joy. As for Ms. Walker, she'll come back one day because this is her home," George comforted her.

Jessica nodded with a smile, hoping her body would hold up until the day Lauren changed her mind.

Lauren was restless while staying in Ethan's villa. Normally, at this time, she would tell Matthew a story and then put him to bed.

However, now, the room was empty, and the entire villa felt lifeless. Without Matthew, all the liveliness seemed to vanish, leaving the house desolate. In this summer heat, Lauren actually felt a bit chilly.

Kimberly couldn't sleep either. She opened the door and saw Lauren pacing in her room through the crack. After hesitating for a long time, she ultimately decided not to go in.

'Forget it, Lauren is already upset; why should I go and make it worse?' Kimberly thought.

Kimberly returned to her room, sighing repeatedly. She thought, 'If Matthew really doesn't come back, my life would have no joy at all.'

Lauren was holding Matthew's storybook, lost in thought. Matthew's smiling face kept appearing in her mind.

'Did Matthew have dinner? Is he happy today? Is he thinking about me?' With these thoughts, Lauren couldn't help but cry. Wiping away her tears with a bitter smile, she felt all her strength crumble, leaving her only with sadness and heartbreak when she was alone.

At that moment, Lauren's phone rang. She quickly ran over and saw that it was Quentin.

Before this, Quentin had kept his word and never called her first, so this time, Lauren guessed it must be Matthew calling.

She eagerly answered the call, and sure enough, Matthew's soft and sweet voice came through.

"Mommy, I'm almost at Uncle Ethan's villa. Come out and get me." Matthew said happily.

Quentin looked at Matthew with a flicker of emotion. Today, he felt content. Although Quentin appeared calm on the surface, inside, he was also excited and happy. Others might not have known how he felt at this moment, but he couldn't hide it from himself. He knew that today, he had finally achieved the hope he had held for the past three years.

Lauren was excited but quickly calmed down. She gently said, "Okay, Matthew. Are you coming back by yourself?"

"Of course not, Daddy brought me back. Don't worry. We'll be there soon." Matthew glanced at Quentin, his tone full of pride.

Lauren was dazed. How could she ask such a silly question? However, she couldn't care about that now. She ended the call, quickly changed clothes, and hurried outside the villa to wait for Matthew.

As expected, after a while, a shiny black Ferrari finally drove up and stopped in front of Lauren.

Matthew happily opened the car door and bounced over to Lauren. Lauren picked him up in a hug. She really missed Matthew.

"Have you been a good boy today?" Lauren kissed Matthew's cheek, teasing him.

Matthew laughed, "Of course I was good. I'm good every day. Mommy, I missed you so much. Did you miss me?"

"Yes, I missed you, too," Lauren said seriously. How could she not miss him?

Matthew had never been out of her sight since he was little. She knew Matthew had gone to see Quentin, but she still couldn't stop worrying.

Quentin got out of the car and walked over, handing a few bags to Lauren.

Lauren wasn't sure whether to take them, feeling awkward. At this moment, Quentin said coldly, "These are clothes I bought for Matthew."

Lauren looked down at the bags, avoiding Quentin's gaze. She took the items and softly said, "Thank you."

Lauren's thanks seemed to mock Quentin. He had never bought anything for Matthew or fulfilled his responsibilities as Matthew's father. Of course, Lauren had never given him the chance.

Lauren and Quentin stood facing each other in awkward silence, unable to say a word.

Matthew noticed the gentle way Quentin was looking at Lauren. Although he was young, he was smart and instantly understood many things.

Matthew loudly boasted to Lauren, "Mommy, Daddy took me to play lots of fun games today. I had so much fun!"

Lauren looked down and affectionately tapped his little nose. "Really? As long as you're happy, that's all that matters."

"However, no matter how much fun I have, I have to come back to be with Mommy at night, but Daddy wasn't mad at all. He was also worried that Mommy would cry, so he brought me back quickly," Matthew continued.

Lauren's expression changed, but she quickly smiled to hide her inner turmoil.

"Matthew, you've really grown up and know how to care for me. Tomorrow, I'll make you something delicious as a reward, okay?" Lauren avoided the topic of Quentin and directly coaxed Matthew.

However, Matthew wasn't easy to dismiss. He frowned and said, "Why doesn't Mommy praise Daddy? Daddy cares about you, too!"

Lauren was embarrassed, but she patiently explained to Matthew, "Because only Matthew is a child. Adults don't need praise."

Matthew glanced at Quentin and stubbornly said, "However, Mommy once told me that whether it's adults or children, everyone should be polite and reasonable and treated equally."

Lauren was left speechless by Matthew, feeling like she wanted to cry but had no tears left. This was the result of all her efforts in educating Matthew, and now it was being used against her. It reminded her of the saying, 'You reap what you sow.'

Quentin listened to Lauren and Matthew's conversation with amusement. He had never seen Lauren so frustrated. He stood there with no intention of leaving, instead watching them with even more interest.
