Chapter 142 Expressing Love

Ethan walked away with a solitary and proud stride, disappearing from Lauren and Quentin's sight.

Depressed, Lauren entered Quentin's car. Quentin suddenly grasped the meaning behind Ethan's words.

"What's wrong with him? He said he would come back. Is he going somewhere?" Quentin asked Lauren, puzzled.

Lauren sigh. "Yes, he will leave for Metropolis tomorrow."

Quentin peered in Ethan's direction, but he was gone.

Quentin realized that Lauren had always considered Ethan as a confidant so that he could understand her current sadness.

"Alright, you should support his decision." Quentin patted Lauren's shoulder to comfort her.

Although she realized it, she couldn't suppress her emotions.

The next day, Ethan boarded the plane alone. He returned and left silently as if he had never been.

Quentin indeed seemed to change. During this period, he came home every day. Despite working until the early hours of the morning, he eagerly returned to embrace Lauren while she slept.

He suddenly fell in love with this kind of life. Holding Lauren while sleeping turned out to be very pleasant.

During his breaks, he would accompany Lauren for walks in the villa's garden, exercising together. These days were very pleasant.

Seeing Quentin's recent good behavior, Lauren felt joyful. It seemed the baby in her belly could sense her happiness, too, growing faster and moving more.

Although the pregnancy was not easy, watching her belly grow day by day made Lauren increasingly proud and excited.

Lauren was over nine months pregnant in a flash. In the last month, her prenatal check-ups became more frequent, changing from once a month to once a week.

Although Quentin always wanted to accompany Lauren to her check-ups, his busy work schedule made it impossible. Recently, Clark Conglomerate had been restless. He tried to resolve the company's issues quickly so he could be worry-free.

The weekly check-ups were simple. Each time, it was a simple fetal heart monitoring.

With the fetal heart monitor wrapped around Lauren's belly, she could hear the baby's heartbeat.

The baby's heartbeat was strong and powerful, making Lauren really feel how full of life her baby was.

She was thankful to live in a time with advanced technology. These instruments helped humans understand so much and recorded many beautiful memories.

Lauren wanted to walk once the fetal heart monitoring was normal. So she texted Quentin: [I want to shop. I'll come home right after.]

Quentin heard the special notification sound and realized it was from Lauren. He opened it and replied: [I'll go with you.]

Lauren smiled and texted: [No need. Housekeeper Robinson can accompany me.]

Quentin replied domineeringly: [Although Housekeeper Robinson can accompany you, I want to accompany you more.]

Lauren smiled happily and texted: [Alright. When will you come? I'll wait for you at the hospital.]

Lauren loved the feeling of being pampered. She didn't expect that the domineering Quentin could be so gentle. Since the public opinion incident, Lauren felt like she had been in a passionate romance with Quentin every day.

Although she was about to give birth, the sense of happiness was truly palpable.

Soon, Quentin arrived. He helped Lauren into the car and said, "Mrs. Robinson, where do you plan to go? I'll make a way for you."

During this period of getting to know Quentin better, Lauren realized he had quite a sense of humor. Although he appeared cold and indifferent on the surface, he could be surprisingly humorous at times.

Lauren was delighted to find a treasure, Quentin, who could only show his true self in front of her.

"Alright, go to the Mother and Baby Lifestyle Store. I want to get some clothes for the baby," Lauren said.

"As you wish," Quentin said with a grin before they sped off.

Lauren had been considering getting ready for the baby, but recent events had delayed her until now.

Lauren thought every man would be like Ulysses, who disliked shopping with women.

Quentin, however, seemed thrilled, a pleasant surprise for her.

"I think this one is nice," Quentin said, picking up a red baby outfit and showing it to Lauren.

Lauren nodded. It was indeed nice. She liked it too.

Quentin then headed to another area and selected a couple more pieces, saying, "These are all good."

Lauren laughed and said, "Quentin, we don't buy so many. Babies grow rapidly in infancy. He might outgrow them before he even gets to wear them. It's too wasteful."

Frowning slightly, Quentin faced a dilemma. "I think they're nice, so let's get them. If he can't wear them, his younger siblings can."

Lauren blushed. "There are no younger siblings. I don't want to have more children yet."

Quentin smiled meaningfully, realizing it wasn't entirely up to her.

Under Quentin's enthusiastic shopping spree, they quickly filled five bags with clothes, towels, diapers, and other items for the baby.

The sales clerk, delighted with the big customer, smiled broadly.

"Sir and madam, have you ever taken maternity photos?"

"Maternity photos? What's that?" As Lauren was pregnant for the first time, she was not familiar with every aspect of pregnancy.

The sales clerk maintained a polite smile and said, "It's a photo shoot taken during pregnancy. Imagine how magnificent and happy pregnancy is. Wouldn't you want to capture it? Taking photos now means you can show them to your child later. When they grow up, they'll understand how much their mother went through. We offer this service here. Would you like to consider it?"

"No need to consider it. We'll do it," Quentin agreed without hesitation.

As Lauren tugged at Quentin's shirt sleeve, he ignored her, took the pen from the sales clerk, and filled out the form.

She felt stunned. The president of the Robinson Conglomerate had turned into a fool, led by the nose by a sales clerk. Was this really the same Quentin who dominated the business world?

After paying, the sales clerk led Lauren and Quentin to the second floor and handed them over to a professional photographer.

Although Lauren didn't know much about maternity photos, she had done a photo shoot before, so she remained calm.

Quentin, however, was different. He felt a bit nervous when the photographer told him they would be taking a couple's photo.
