Chapter 380 Amnesia
"How did I fall asleep?" Lauren quickly sat up, feeling a sharp pain in her neck from sleeping in an awkward position.
When Lauren lifted her head, everything she saw made her wonder if she was dreaming.
"Quentin, thank goodness, you're awake." Lauren saw Quentin sitting on the bed, quietly looking at her, and she burst into tears of joy.
"Who are you?" Quentin's expression was somewhat indifferent as he pulled his hand away from Lauren's grasp.
"Quentin? Is that what you're calling me? Don't scare me." Hearing Quentin's words, Lauren became a bit anxious. "Do you really not recognize me?"
Quentin slowly nodded, "I seem to remember nothing."
"Doctor." Realizing Quentin had lost his memory, Lauren quickly ran out to call the doctor.
After a thorough examination, the doctor told Lauren that it was already quite fortunate Quentin had woken up. It seemed that Quentin had suffered a severe blow to the head, causing temporary amnesia.
"Temporary amnesia?" Lauren asked the doctor, "So, there's a chance Quentin could regain his memory?"
"Yes," the doctor hesitated, "but the chances are very slim. It's best to take him to places he used to frequent or places that are special to him. Maybe that could help Mr. Robinson regain his memory."
Despite the doctor's words about the slim chances, Lauren decided to give it a try.
The doctor had previously told her that Quentin might never wake up, but he did. So Lauren believed that Quentin could also regain his memory and remember her.
After seeing the doctor off, Lauren began peeling an apple for Quentin by his bedside.
"Who are you?" Quentin asked Lauren, "Why do you care so much about me?"
Hearing Quentin's question, Lauren smiled slightly, "I'm Lauren, your wife. We also have a son named Matthew."
"I have a son?" Quentin seemed a bit surprised.
After a long silence, Quentin asked Lauren, "Can I see him?"
"Of course." Lauren was very pleased that Quentin accepted this so quickly; she had thought he would doubt her for a while.
Without hesitation, Lauren called Kimberly and asked her to bring Matthew over.
Seeing Quentin sitting on the bed, no longer the proud man he once was, Kimberly couldn't help but sigh softly.
Patting Lauren on the shoulder, Kimberly said nothing and left, giving the room to the family of three.
Hearing from Kimberly that Quentin remembered nothing, Matthew had cried hard at home.
Not wanting to trouble Quentin, Matthew composed himself before coming in.
"Daddy." Matthew smiled and was about to run into Quentin's arms.
"Matthew." Lauren stopped Matthew, "Your daddy just had surgery; be careful not to touch his wounds."
Actually, Lauren said this because she was worried that Quentin, not remembering Matthew, might reject his enthusiasm.
Not wanting Quentin to feel sad, Lauren chose to be the bad guy.
Thinking Quentin was covered in wounds, Matthew took a few steps back, afraid of hurting him.
"It's okay, come here." Quentin, unusually gentle, waved at Matthew.
Seeing Quentin calling him, Matthew forgot what Lauren had said and threw himself into Quentin's arms.
"Daddy, I missed you so much." Matthew clung tightly to Quentin's chest, unwilling to let go.
"Do I rarely come home?" Quentin asked, looking puzzled at Lauren.
"Daddy, you're always so busy with work, you never have time for us." Matthew pouted, looking very aggrieved.
"Work? What do I do?" Quentin asked Lauren.
Lauren didn't know how to explain Quentin's job to him, especially since he was no longer the CEO of Robinson Conglomerate.
But she worried that telling Quentin this might upset him, as he had just woken up not long ago.
"You resigned from the company for a vacation yesterday," Lauren decided to lie, "and that's why the accident happened."
"I see." Quentin nodded thoughtfully.
Knowing Quentin didn't have to go to work anymore, Matthew was thrilled, "Great, now Daddy can stay with Mommy and me and play with us."
Quentin patted Matthew's head and asked, "So, what does Matthew want to play?"
"There are so many things I want to play." Matthew was about to list them all when Lauren stopped him.
"Matthew, don't be naughty." Lauren pulled Matthew away from Quentin, "Your daddy is still weak and needs to rest."
"Oh, right," Matthew suddenly realized, "Daddy, when you get better, you have to play with me."
Quentin smiled and nodded slowly.
Seeing Quentin not rejecting Matthew's affection, Lauren was quite happy. Perhaps this meant Quentin still remembered them deep down.
"Are you hungry?" Lauren asked Quentin, "I'll cook something for you."
Lauren glanced around. Because they were in a VIP room, it was a private room with a kitchen.
"Okay." Hearing Lauren's question, Quentin realized he was indeed a bit hungry, "Did you often cook for me before?"
"Of course." Lauren felt a bit proud, "You loved my cooking, but I rarely cooked after we got married."
"I'll make you some fish soup; it's light." Lauren suggested, "It's my specialty and your favorite."
"Hearing you say that, I feel like I should drink more to do you justice." Quentin joked.
Lauren found it unbelievable that Quentin would say something like that.
'Maybe Quentin's personality has changed a bit because he doesn't remember the past,' Lauren thought to herself as she went to cook for Quentin.
The news of former Robinson Conglomerate CEO Quentin's car accident quickly made headlines. To prevent Quentin from seeing this, Lauren took away all electronic devices, citing concerns about radiation.
Knowing Lauren was doing it for his own good, Quentin went along with it.
