Chapter 204 Resolved
Adrian listened to Lauren and Ethan but held off on responding.
Lauren thought, 'Wasn't I sincere enough? Does Adrian still not trust me?'
After a long pause, Adrian frowned. "I'm willing to work with you, but I'm worried it'll be like last time, where the internships were a joke and wasted the students' time. I'm responsible for my students, so don't blame me for being cautious."
Lauren and Ethan exchanged smiles. They understood Adrian's concerns.
"Mr. Morgan, we want to collaborate with you. I get your worries. Let's try working together for a week. You can visit our company to see if we genuinely engage and teach the students. If you have any doubts, you can end the partnership anytime," Lauren said, standing up and looking seriously at Adrian.
Adrian thought, 'Lauren is different from the business people I've dealt with before. I can see her sincerity.' He made up his mind.
Seeing Adrian's expression soften, Lauren continued, "And if we do end up collaborating, you can have students supervise. We guarantee our commitment to the students won't wane!"
Ethan nodded at Lauren, confident in her promises.
Adrian glanced at them a few times, then smiled. "With your guarantees, I agree. I'll meet with the students later and arrange to send a few top pupils to your company. If the collaboration works, I'll send more students."
Hearing Adrian agree, Lauren and Ethan were overjoyed. "That's great! We'll follow your arrangements."
They then discussed the specifics of their cooperation. Ethan looked at Lauren thoughtfully, noticing she was different from three years ago.
Three years ago, Lauren had ideas but maybe lacked the courage and determination to handle things so perfectly.
Ethan admired Lauren even more, not out of romantic feelings, but as recognition of a partner.
Lauren glanced back at Ethan, who smiled in praise.
Lauren chuckled, her smile so sweet that Ethan felt even the summer sun wasn't as dazzling as Lauren at that moment.
Having successfully persuaded Adrian, Lauren and Ethan left Pinnacle University excitedly.
Outside the campus gate, Ethan couldn't help but praise Lauren.
"Lauren, you showed a different side of yourself today," Ethan said, looking at her affectionately.
Lauren smiled. "Don't you blame me for making decisions on my own?"
"Of course not. I'm grateful to you!" Ethan said, taking Lauren's hand. "Lauren, thank you for all your efforts."
Lauren awkwardly pulled her hand away. "It's too early to call this a success. Wait until everything is completely resolved before you thank me!"
Ethan felt a chill in his hand and a pang of disappointment in his heart. But seeing Lauren's smiling face, he thought life was still pretty good. At least she was standing with him now.
Lauren and Ethan's efforts paid off, and they successfully reached cooperation agreements with two schools. A week later, students from Pinnacle University joined the company, and Lauren and Richard personally taught them architectural design.
Noah found out about Ethan's actions and learned that Lauren had returned. Shocked, he chose not to inform Quentin, despite Matthew's absence for three years. He had his reasons—he wanted to help Sophia. Over the past three years, he had seen Quentin and Sophia grow closer and didn't want to ruin that.
Sophia had once confided in Noah, admitting her love for Quentin and begging for his help. Noah couldn't bear to refuse her, so he would rather disappoint anyone else than let Sophia down. He believed Quentin would forget Lauren if he kept quiet. Although he knew Quentin would eventually find out, he wanted to delay it. Unexpectedly, the day of revelation arrived sooner than Noah had anticipated.
A couple of days later, Quentin called Noah into his office. He placed a stack of documents on the desk, his expression somewhat different, though Noah couldn't pinpoint how.
"What's this?" Noah asked, pointing to the documents.
"Take a look," Quentin said coldly.
Noah nodded, picked up the files, and saw they were investigation reports on Ethan's company from two days ago. His heart skipped a beat, guessing that Quentin might already know everything, including Lauren's return.
"I didn't expect Ethan to come up with this idea. He's quite clever," Noah said with a forced smile, trying to convince himself that Quentin hadn't thoroughly investigated the matter and might not know Lauren was back.
Quentin's eyes sparkled. "This idea wasn't his; it was Lauren's."
Noah's smile froze. He calmed himself and said, "Is Lauren back? So that's it."
Quentin looked at Noah knowingly. He understood Noah's feelings for Sophia but couldn't help him in matters of the heart. Quentin wanted to make sure everything was clear.
Quentin's all-knowing expression made Noah uncomfortable. He pretended to flip through the documents casually.
"I've finished reading. I think their plan is quite good. So, what do you plan to do?" Noah asked.
Quentin stared at Noah before slowly saying, "No, I have no plans to intervene. The more people, the merrier. This is getting more interesting."
Seeing Quentin's cold smile, Noah felt conflicted. He didn't know what Quentin was thinking. He only knew that things were now completely out of his control.
"We can coexist with Ethan's company. Don't make things difficult for him. Business shouldn't be that brutal," Noah said.
"Okay," Quentin responded lightly.
