Chapter 66 Conspiracy Approaching

Wendy was pushed out of the examination room by the doctor, looking at Quentin with a grievance, and said, "Quentin, I'm sorry."

Quentin frowned at Wendy, turned around without waiting for her to speak, and left.

"Quentin, Quentin, don't go! I know I was wrong." Wendy pleaded desperately from behind, but no matter what she did, she couldn't make Quentin turn back.

Until Quentin disappeared from her sight, a fierce look appeared in Wendy's eyes.

"Oh, Quentin, the more you want to escape, the more I will make sure you can't escape!"

Angry, Quentin left the hospital. He wanted to call Lauren, but it was late at night now, and he didn't want to disturb her rest.

He was disgusted by Wendy's actions but had to call Cecilia to deal with all the traces of what happened between Wendy and him last night. He didn't want to let malicious people exploit this incident or complicate things because of it.

The next day, Lauren got up with dark circles under her eyes. As soon as she went downstairs, she saw Quentin sitting in the living room, which eased her heart a bit, so she walked over with a smile.

"How was the birthday banquet last night?" Lauren inquired with a smile, but her expression froze upon seeing Quentin's face.

"Quentin, are you alright? How did you get injured?"

"It's nothing, just a minor mishap on the way back last night," Quentin explained casually. He had been up all night, tending to Wendy's situation and had hurried back. Eager to see Lauren, he was almost under a spell, his mind consumed by thoughts of her.

Lauren's heart tightened. No wonder she was restless last night; it turned out something happened to Quentin. Seeing that Quentin was fine and the reason he didn't return all night was because of this, Lauren felt relieved.

"Are you hungry? Let me make you some breakfast." Lauren didn't know how to express her concern, so she awkwardly said this.

A hint of tenderness and a smile appeared in Quentin's eyes, "Sure."

Not understanding why Quentin was smiling, Lauren blushed and ran into the kitchen. Since it was still early, the servants hadn't bought groceries yet, so she made a simple tomato noodle dish.

Quentin wasn't picky and finished the noodles in front of Lauren. His action made Lauren feel accomplished.

"I'll be quite busy these days, I might come back late in the evenings, so have your dinner and rest early," Quentin instructed.

Lauren obediently nodded. The car accident incident was indeed a headache, and she didn't want to trouble Quentin, so she didn't ask about the details.

"Alright, focus on your work." Lauren showed a relaxed expression on the surface, but she felt a bit sad inside. Because it meant that Quentin would have very little time to accompany her.

As Quentin had said, for the next few days, he either came back very late every night or didn't come back at all.

Lauren hadn't seen Quentin for almost half a month, and she missed him a lot, but she couldn't call him. When would this agonizing period end?

In her spare time, Lauren watched TV and accidentally saw the news about Wendy.

She didn't expect Wendy to have an accident and cancel her trip abroad for filming.

Such a coincidence! Half a month ago, Quentin had an accident, and now Wendy had one too.

Without much thought, Lauren believed it was a coincidence, as she trusted Quentin unconditionally and wholeheartedly.

A few days later, it was time for a check-up. Remembering that Quentin had promised Dr. Olivia at the hospital to accompany her for future check-ups, Lauren decided to call him.

Summoning up her courage, Lauren dialed the number, but to her surprise, a woman's voice answered. Lauren didn't dare to speak and quickly hung up.

Did she dial the wrong number? Lauren double-checked but felt puzzled.

Who was that woman? Why did she answer Quentin's phone? Could it be a business partner of Quentin's? No, a business partner shouldn't casually answer someone else's phone.

Could it be the new female secretary? Lauren thought it unlikely because for so many years, Quentin's secretary had always been one person, a man named Cecilia.

After guessing for a while without a reliable conclusion, Lauren called again. She was looking for her husband; what did she have to fear?

The call was answered again, but this time by a deep male voice.

"Hello."

"I... I'm Lauren." Lauren spoke anxiously.

"I know, what's up?" Quentin inquired.

"It's nothing major, it's just that tomorrow is my check-up day, do you have time?"

There was silence on the other end of the line, and Lauren heard some noise, not like Quentin's office environment.

"I have work tomorrow and can't make it." Quentin finally replied after a long pause.

"It's okay, it's okay. I'll go by myself then. No big deal, I'll hang up now."

"OK."

Lauren hung up the phone, feeling very sad. Although she understood that work was important, Quentin had promised her, and she really wanted him to accompany her. Being alone all the time made her feel very lonely.

"Quentin, thank you for coming to see me. But I still need to apologize to you for my actions. If I hadn't been foolish and wanted to jump out of the car, you wouldn't have been hurt. I really feel guilty." Wendy regretfully said.

She spoke grandly on the surface, but inside, she was quite pleased. It was simply impossible for Quentin to shake her off. The things she wanted, so far, none had slipped from her grasp.

Calming down, Quentin felt he also had a responsibility for this matter, which was why he came to visit Wendy. During this time, because of Wendy's injury, all her work had been delayed, and as the Robinson Conglomerate had signed many cooperation projects with her, it had naturally been greatly affected.

During this period, he had been busy dealing with these negative impacts, so he couldn't leave and couldn't accompany Lauren for the check-up.

"It's alright. But after you're discharged today, be careful and don't be reckless." Quentin said.

"I know, I will. Thank you, Quentin. If it weren't for you, I might have died already! Let's not talk about this anymore. If you're busy, you can leave now. My agent will come to pick me up from the hospital soon." Wendy said considerately.

Quentin nodded, bid farewell, and left the hospital directly to drive back to the Robinson Conglomerate.

Meanwhile, Wendy had a new plan. Just now, she took Quentin's first call while he was helping her with the discharge procedures. She saw Lauren's name on the caller ID, and on the second call, she heard about the ‘check-up,’ so she immediately guessed everything.

What a clever move by Lauren, she had actually conceived Quentin's child. Wendy would definitely not allow her to give birth to this child.
