Chapter 154 Each Going Their Own Way

The car stopped in front of Ethan's villa. Lauren saw that this beautiful villa was very similar to the house she had once described to Ethan as her dream home.

"This is..." Lauren got out of the car, somewhat in disbelief.

Ethan was very proud. He asked, smugly, "Does it look familiar? Alright, I won't hide it anymore. This villa was built based on your description from back then. Not bad, right? Is there anything different from what you imagined?"

Lauren was extremely touched. She warmly replied, "I was just casually talking back then. How did you take it so seriously and even build it?"

"I have to admit, I was very interested when you mentioned it back then. I also wanted to build my own house, so I borrowed your design. Lauren, you won't sue me for copyright infringement, will you?" Ethan joked.

She playfully replied, "Of course not. I should thank you for fulfilling my childhood dream."

Lauren smiled, a bit of color returning to her pale face.

He urged, "Alright. Let's go inside."

Ethan carefully escorted Lauren through the door and took her to the room he had prepared for her.

Ethan specially prepared that room for Lauren during the construction. He arranged all the decorations, hoping that one day Lauren could move in as hostess.

She humbly remarked, "Ethan, you work so efficiently. You got the room ready for me so quickly. Actually, you don't have to go through all this trouble. I can stay anywhere."

Lauren looked at the spotless room, the exquisite decor, and the beautiful scenery, all in her favorite style.

Ethan chuckled softly. He would never tell Lauren that he had always been preparing this house for her. As long as he lived here, he would clean it every day, hoping that one day she could move in.

"It's okay, as long as you like it. Now, we need a crib. I've already sent someone to buy it," Ethan said.

Lauren was very grateful. She said appreciatively, "You've really gone to a lot of trouble."

"Lauren, don't say things like that anymore, or I'll really get angry," Ethan said seriously.

Lauren nodded vigorously. She knew that saying thank you was too light, and she couldn't express her gratitude towards him.

So, Lauren settled down in Ethan's villa. Ethan specially hired a maid to take care of Lauren and Matthew's daily needs. Life seemed to return to peace.

However, the Robinson family was not at peace. Upon learning that Lauren had left the Robinson family Villa with Matthew, Jessica was so upset that her health deteriorated.

She lay weakly on the bed, heartbroken.

"How could you be so disappointing! Why do you still get entangled with Sophia Hall? Have you forgotten how she hurt you back then? By doing this, how do you think Lauren, who has done so much for you, would feel?" Jessica said.

He pleaded, "Grandma, I was wrong. Please don't be angry. The doctor said you shouldn't get too emotional." Quentin knelt by the bedside, constantly admitting his mistakes.

But Jessica's anger could not be appeased. "Quentin, do you know how much Lauren has suffered for you? How could you be so heartless? It's all my fault for not raising you properly. Your soft-heartedness is the result of my indulgence. Oh God, please don't torment Lauren and Quentin anymore. Let me bear all the sins, even if it takes my life!" she said, helplessly.

Jessica was heartbroken, taking all the blame upon herself.

'Quentin lost his parents early, and I haven't raised him well, so the blame should fall on me,' she thought.

Seeing Jessica like this was more painful for Quentin than being killed.

"Grandma, I beg you not to be like this. I will take responsibility for my mistakes. Please don't harm your health," Quentin said.

"Don't worry about me. Now, tell me the truth. Have you rekindled your old relationship with Sophia? Have you done anything inappropriate?" Jessica asked.

Jessica looked at Quentin sternly. She had to get to the bottom of this. If things were really bad, even if Lauren didn't mind, she would never forgive Quentin.

"No, Grandma, I absolutely haven't done anything to betray Lauren. I wanted to save Sophia. I didn't expect it to be so complicated or delay my return," Quentin explained while he felt wronged and told Jessica everything that had happened in the past few days.

After listening, Jessica wept. Disappointed, she yelled, "What a sin! Get out. I need to calm down."

Quentin returned to the villa, looking at the empty room, feeling even more sorrowful.

Lauren was gone, leaving him alone.

Late at night, when the longing was most intense, Quentin lay on the bed in the bedroom, unable to sleep. As he recalled Jessica's words, his guilt deepened.

After returning, he investigated everything that had happened to Lauren in the past few days. It turned out that so much had happened on the day Lauren gave birth. Not only was he not there with her, but he also failed to fulfill his responsibilities as a husband.

Maybe Lauren was correct to leave him. He, indeed, hadn't given Lauren any sense of security, which was why her emotions were so unstable.

Quentin smoked in the room. Even after a whole night, he couldn't ease his worries.

Lauren seemed to have lost her memory, never mentioning Quentin or anything about the Robinson family.

Ethan knew she was forcing herself. Her silence meant she still cared about Quentin. Ethan vowed never to let Lauren get hurt again, so he had to take action.

When Ethan brought a bowl of onion soup to Lauren's room, Lauren was playing with Matthew, and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

"Lauren, you and Matthew have been here for a week now. Are you getting used to it?" Ethan handed the onion soup to Lauren, speaking gently.

Lauren smiled warmly. She said jokingly, "Of course, I'm used to it. With you taking such good care of us, both Matthew and I have gained quite a bit of weight."

"Gaining weight is good. You look thinner than before. You need to eat more and take care of yourself so that Matthew has enough milk to drink," Ethan said.

Lauren nodded and thought, 'Yes, so many troubling things have happened recently that my milk supply is insufficient, causing Matthew to suffer as well.'

"By the way, didn't you ask me to help you find a job a long time ago? I have a suggestion now. I wonder if you'll accept it?" Ethan brought up the serious matter.

Lauren was interested. Her current situation was very bad, and Ethan knew it, too. What kind of job could she have in this environment?

Lauren replied, "Ethan, I don't want to burden you, and I don't want to be compensated for doing nothing just because of your connections. So you..."

Ethan poked Lauren's forehead. He scolded, "What are you thinking? Knowing your stubbornness, I wouldn't do it. This job requires your effort. I won't help you get in through the back door!"

Ethan said this on the surface, but he had already made thorough plans for Lauren behind the scenes. This time, as long as Lauren agreed, it would be fine.
