Chapter 434 Direct Confrontation
Violette had been warned by Odette to keep a low profile, but with all the photographers and lighting crew around, it was clear that any slip-up would be hard to hide.
'This idiot,' Odette muttered under her breath, wishing she could silence Violette for good.
Violette thought she was untouchable with Odette backing her, but things weren't as simple as she believed.
As they neared the hall, Theodosia, quick on her feet, shouted in panic, "Help! The servant is attacking someone!"
Violette, hearing this, lost her cool and chased after them in a blind rage.
Lauren, who had just been struck by Violette, was dizzy and had a long red mark on the back of her neck.
Quentin frowned and quickly stood up, heading towards the commotion, which made Odette even more anxious.
She hurriedly grabbed Quentin's arm and asked softly, "Quentin, where are you going? We're about to start."
Quentin, barely containing his anger, replied, "Do you think we can continue with this now?"
His meaning was clear, and Odette had no choice but to follow him, dragging her wedding dress and panting, "Quentin, wait for me."
Lauren felt the hallway had never been this long.
Exhausted from the torment she had endured, she was struggling to keep going.
With Violette's recent attack, Lauren was on the verge of collapse.
"Hang in there," Theodosia said worriedly, supporting Lauren.
"What the hell is going on?" Quentin's angry shout made everyone stop.
He had arrived just in time and was furious when he saw Lauren curled up in a corner, soaked in dirty water, and being helped by Theodosia.
Turning around, he demanded, "What is going on here?"
Violette glanced at Odette behind Quentin, feeling disoriented and scared by Quentin's outburst. She hoped Odette would step in for her.
But Odette remained silent, looking at Violette with a hint of disgust.
"They were hiding here, not working."
"So you decided to beat them up?" Quentin's voice was cold and severe.
Violette was shocked and stammered, "I just thought there was too much work, so I wanted help. But they were plotting something."
"Is that your business to handle?" Quentin interrupted, his eyes cold and terrifying, making everyone around shiver.
Odette couldn't let things escalate further.
She affectionately held Quentin's arm and said slowly, "Don't let these servants ruin your mood today. We're supposed to be taking wedding photos. It's not good to be affected by them."
Odette smiled sweetly.
Lauren, finally recovering, stood up with Theodosia's help and said without looking up, "Mr. Robinson and Ms. Foster, you don't need to report every little thing to me. And Ms. Foster, control your servants."
Lauren spoke with a deadened tone, not wanting to see Odette's dazzling wedding dress or Quentin's matching suit.
"Are you okay?" Quentin asked, his mind in turmoil.
Seeing Lauren's haggard appearance, he wanted to hold her and leave, but he couldn't show any weakness now.
"Thanks to you, what do you think?" Lauren replied coldly, her eyes losing their usual sparkle, and walked away with Theodosia without another word.
Neither noticed the brief exchange of looks between Theodosia and Quentin, as if they were communicating something.
Violette tugged at Odette's dress, but Odette quickly stepped back, avoiding her.
"From now on, stay out of my sight," Quentin said sternly, his tone leaving no room for argument. His expression was terrifyingly cold, making everyone feel a deep sense of fear.
Violette panicked, knowing that being kicked out would make finding another job incredibly difficult.
Desperately, she said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Robinson. If Theodosia had been working, I wouldn't have done this. It's all her fault. She never works and always plots with Lauren. I couldn't help but teach them a lesson. I didn't mean to."
Violette looked at Odette for help, but Odette, instead of defending her, added fuel to the fire, angrily saying, "Violette, I respected you for working here for years and taking care of you. But now, you've become so arrogant and rude. You've let me down."
Odette pretended to be deeply disappointed, glancing at Quentin, afraid he might suspect something.
Seeing Odette turn on her, Violette was shocked and grabbed Odette's arm, pleading, "Ms. Foster, I did this for you. You can't abandon me. I have a daughter. I can't lose my job."
Odette quickly pushed Violette away and said calmly, "Don't say such things. I took care of you because you were a long-time employee. But now, you're so arrogant and disrespectful. You've hurt me."
Realizing Odette was abandoning her, Violette knew she had no way out. But she wasn't ready to give up, glaring at Odette with a look of determination.
Odette had anticipated this and had secretly arranged for someone to follow Violette's daughter, ensuring Violette wouldn't dare betray her.
"Think of your daughter. I understand, but you can't act so recklessly," Odette said, pretending to be conflicted, subtly threatening Violette to keep quiet.
Violette stared blankly at Odette, realizing everything she had done was for someone else's benefit, and collapsed to the ground in despair.
