Chapter 89 Time Changes All
Lauren bowed her head, pondering whether she should accept the proposal. She longed for a normal life and wanted to give her child a warm home. 'Would following Noah's suggestion really drive away the women around Quentin?' she wondered.
Lauren weighed the pros and cons and finally decided to trust Quentin's choice. She needed to have faith in him.
"Alright, I agree. But I'm not a star, nor am I that famous. If I endorse the product, will it really help with the promotion?" Lauren inquired.
Upon hearing Lauren agree, Noah admired her courage and was moved by her love for Quentin. He hadn't expected Lauren to go to such lengths for Quentin. Noah truly envied Quentin for having someone who loved him so deeply.
Noah smiled and said, "You don't need to worry about that. Don't forget, you're the well-known wife of Quentin in City A. Just with this status alone, you will naturally attract attention."
Lauren felt a lump in her throat. Unsure of what to say, she sensed something amiss but was unable to pinpoint it.
Quentin sensed that Lauren's agreement was somewhat reluctant. He suddenly regretted his decision.
"If you find it troublesome, then forget it," Quentin said.
Noah, standing by, was anxious. 'What is Quentin thinking? He initially agreed to have Lauren be the spokesperson, but now he is suddenly backing out. Quentin's change of heart is too swift,' he thought.
"Troublesome? I don't think it's troublesome at all. Lauren just needs to take a few photos for the product endorsement. Besides, with Lauren's great temperament, the ad will be easy to shoot. Quentin, having Lauren as the spokesperson solves the company's problem and lets everyone know she's your wife. It's a win-win. Why are you backing out?" Noah didn't understand.
Quentin knew that the spokesperson situation wouldn't be troublesome. He just didn't want to see Lauren frown.
The two men stood in a standoff, but Lauren had already made up her mind.
"Alright, you don't need to say more. I've already agreed. But given my current health condition, I hope you can consider that when shooting the ad. Is that okay?" Lauren requested.
Noah immediately beamed. "That's absolutely not a problem. Don't forget, you're the dignified Mrs. Quentin. Who would dare mistreat you?"
At this moment, Quentin also spoke, "I'll accompany you during the shoot."
Quentin's words deeply moved Lauren. The usually cold Quentin could also be considerate. She had finally won his true heart.
"Alright," Lauren said with a sweet smile.
"You two, consider that I'm still single here! Is it appropriate to show off your love in front of me?" Noah stood up, blocking their intense eye contact.
Quentin pushed Noah aside. "I think it's very appropriate."
Noah felt defeated. It was indeed time for him to consider his own lifelong matters.
After finishing their tea, Quentin took Lauren home and then returned to the company with Noah. They immediately went to the marketing department to start a new plan with Lauren as the spokesperson. With everyone's efforts, the proposal was quickly completed.
The next day, Quentin presented the plan to all the directors. As expected, Lauren's appointment as the new spokesperson was unanimously approved at the meeting.
While Noah and Quentin were celebrating the smooth progress, Wendy couldn't sit still.
Wendy's agent, James, was deeply troubled. He hadn't slept well for days due to the termination of Wendy's contract with the Robinson Conglomerate. However, Wendy was now a popular star with a big reputation and an even bigger ego. Wendy was James's top client, whom he had brought from obscurity to stardom, so even he couldn't say much to her.
Wendy was also anxious. She hadn't expected Quentin to be so serious this time, which made her feel humiliated. When she learned that Lauren was replacing her as the spokesperson for the Robinson Conglomerate's new product, Wendy nearly exploded with anger.
'Lauren? How can a woman with no looks and no charm compare to me?' she thought.
"Wendy, what on earth is going on? You just ended your collaboration with the Robinson Conglomerate like that. Don't you know how much money our company will lose because of this? You handed over such a great opportunity to someone of unknown origin," James finally couldn't hold back and started nagging Wendy.
Wendy felt wronged, too. She only blamed Lauren for her good luck, allowing Lauren to become Mrs. Robinson easily.
With a sinister smile, Wendy said, "James, haven't you heard of Lauren's name? She's not of unknown origin. She's the legendary Mrs. Quentin, that useless Mrs. Robinson."
James suddenly understood. So, Wendy had lost to Quentin's wife, which made him feel a bit more balanced.
"But still, you can't just ruin all your collaborations with the Robinson Conglomerate!" James exclaimed.
"Well, I won't let Lauren live so comfortably. I'll make her understand the harshness of reality," Wendy said with a fierce look. Since Quentin was heartless, she would teach Lauren a lesson.
The new product endorsement progressed smoothly, and Lauren's previous identity as Amelia, who worked for Patrick, was fully exposed, causing a huge stir in the Robinson Conglomerate's sales department.
After some time, Lauren returned to the Robinson Conglomerate, but everything had changed. This time, she was a distinguished guest. Many familiar faces from the sales department gathered around to see the 'promoted' Mrs. Robinson, or rather, Lauren.
No one knew about Lauren's pregnancy yet. Apart from noticing she had gained a bit of weight, there were no obvious physical signs.
"Amelia, you really kept it hidden well. Who would have thought you stayed in the sales department for so long and fooled all of us? I have to say, your acting skills are pretty good!" Francis said with a laugh.
Lauren felt a bit embarrassed. "I'm really sorry, Francis. I didn't mean to deceive everyone. For personal reasons, I took a job at Patrick's. I wanted to do that job well and didn't want any special treatment as Quentin's wife. So, I hope you all won't blame me."
Francis laughed heartily. "No, we won't blame you. Whether you're Mrs. Robinson or not, to us, you're still the hardworking, diligent girl Amelia."
Hearing Francis's affirmation, Lauren felt very happy. If she could come back to work as an ordinary person, how wonderful that would be.
