Chapter 350 A Heartfelt Confession
"What's different?" Upon hearing Quentin's words, Sophia's emotions spiraled out of control. "You just don't want to take responsibility for me."
Seeing Sophia say this, Quentin felt a bit unwilling to listen. "Watch your words. I haven't done anything to you. Don't say things that can be easily misunderstood. As a woman, you should have some self-respect."
Being told to have self-respect by the man she loved, Sophia felt utterly ridiculous.
"Yeah, I must be really stupid." Sophia laughed as tears fell, pointing to the emergency room. "Instead of cherishing someone as good to me as Noah, I chose to spend so many years of my youth on you."
"So, forget about me. Start over with Noah." Quentin didn't want to continue this topic with Sophia any longer. He hurriedly said a few words and prepared to leave. "I'll come back later. Think about it by yourself."
Just as Quentin was about to leave, he felt someone hug him tightly from behind.
"Quentin, I was really wrong," Sophia cried softly. "I shouldn't have treated you that way. I admit, I initially approached you because of your money, but I later genuinely fell in love with you."
Quentin expressionlessly released Sophia's hand. He didn't care about anything she said.
"It doesn't matter anymore," Quentin said flatly.
"Don't you want to forgive me?" Sophia said anxiously. "But wasn't Lauren the same way? Why could you forgive her but not accept me?"
"No," Quentin answered decisively. "She's different from you."
Initially, Quentin saw Lauren the same way, but later he realized that Lauren had genuinely loved him from the start.
"Quentin." Worried about Quentin, Lauren came to check on him and happened to see the scene just now.
"You're here." Quentin walked over to Lauren.
"Yeah, I was worried about you." Lauren asked Quentin, "How's Noah now?"
"He's still not out of danger." Saying this, Quentin couldn't help but frown.
Seeing Lauren by Quentin's side, Sophia finally understood what Quentin meant when he said she was different from Lauren.
"Quentin, I wish you happiness." Sophia said.
At this moment, Sophia finally let go.
She also let go of her obsession with love.
"Yeah, you too," Quentin replied. "Noah will be fine. When that time comes, seize your own happiness."
"I understand." Sophia smiled gently, just like when she first met Quentin and Noah.
Seeing Sophia like this, Lauren felt a bit dazed.
After leaving, Lauren asked Quentin, "Has she really given up on her feelings for you?"
"Whatever decision she makes has nothing to do with us." Quentin held Lauren's hand, signaling her not to worry about these unnecessary things.
"Okay." Lauren told Quentin, "Matthew just woke up. After feeding him some porridge, he went back to sleep."
"When we get back, tell me everything about Matthew so I can remind you in the future." Quentin said.
Hearing Quentin's considerate words, Lauren couldn't help but feel touched.
"What's wrong?" Seeing Lauren's tearful eyes, Quentin was amused.
"Nothing, I just felt like you were a father for a moment." Lauren replied.
"Silly, I am Matthew's father." With that, Quentin pulled Lauren into his arms.
The storm was bound to come. The next day, the headlines of major media outlets were almost entirely about Quentin and Noah.
"Robinson Conglomerate's CEO suspected of abandoning old lover?"
"Love and hatred in the wealthy family!"
"Risking life for love."
The headlines were more exaggerated than the last, and the content and comments below were even more unbearable.
Public opinion had completely sided with Sophia, and Robinson Conglomerate's stock value not only didn't recover but fell even more sharply.
"What should we do now?" Lauren felt a cloud of worry over her head.
Yesterday was still okay, but today, with the newspapers out, the hospital entrance was surrounded by reporters, making it impossible to leave.
They seemed to want to drag Quentin and the still-recovering Noah over for a round of questioning.
"They're just making things up now." Quentin said.
Seeing Quentin's irritable look, Lauren became even more worried.
"Mommy, why is it so noisy outside?" Matthew was unaware of all this, only feeling that it was particularly noisy outside.
"By the way," seeing Quentin and Lauren both there, Matthew asked, "Aren't Daddy and Mommy getting married today? Why are you still here?"
Lauren sat by Matthew's bed, gently stroking his face. "No rush, we'll talk about it when you get better. The most important thing is that the three of us are together."
"Okay." Hearing Lauren say this, Matthew smiled happily.
After taking his medicine, Matthew fell asleep again.
"You stay here with Matthew, don't go out." Quentin was worried that Lauren would be discovered by reporters, making things even more complicated. So, before leaving, Quentin instructed Lauren.
"Are you going to see Noah?" Lauren asked.
"Yeah." Quentin was always worried about Noah.
After instructing Lauren again, Quentin finally left.
Sophia was sitting on a nearby bench, looking like she hadn't rested all day.
"Here." Quentin handed a bottle of water to Sophia.
Sophia glanced at Quentin and took the water. "Thank you."
After that, they fell silent again.
"You should rest for a while," Quentin said, concerned for Sophia.
"It's okay, I just want to see him wake up." Sophia said.
'If you had realized Noah's goodness earlier,' Quentin couldn't help but think.
"Don't collapse before Noah wakes up, or I won't take care of you." Quentin said.
Though his words were harsh, Sophia knew Quentin meant well.
"Thank you," Sophia said to Quentin. "I'll hold on until Noah wakes up. I have so much to tell him."
