Chapter 70 Emotional Wounds

Quentin stared at that smiling face, wishing he could just go over and strangle her.

Women, they're all the same!

Women, creatures who are bound to betray.

Is there any sincerity in women at all?

Ridiculous how he thought Lauren truly loved him, now realizing he was just a temporary stop for her.

Quentin turned away without looking back, his veins bulging with anger, and then stormed out of the hotel.

He shouldn't have come looking for Lauren, he shouldn't have humiliated himself. His genuine feelings were thrown to the dogs, Lauren was nothing but a hypocrite from start to finish! Quentin ranted in his mind, never expecting to feel this angry and disappointed.

The hurt from his first love, the betrayal, it all came rushing back. Lauren, he had completely misjudged her, she turned out to be a fickle woman!

"Alright, tell me, how did you end up divorcing? Was he treating you badly?" Ethan put away his playful demeanor, looking at Lauren seriously.

Some pressures need to be voiced to find relief, and Lauren probably needed a listening ear.

From the moment they met until now, Lauren had been pretending to be strong, but Ethan could see through her facade in an instant. He always understood her the best, even though he hadn't been by her side for the past two years.

The forced smile on Lauren's face froze, "I have nothing to say. We are not meant for each other, so we should part ways."

"Your husband is not a simple man. Although I've been abroad for the past two years, I haven't missed any of his news. It's good that you left him, a man with ambition but no conscience is not suitable for you." Ethan comforted her.

"Yes, so I think this choice is good. I'll live well on my own from now on, raise my child well, and strive to live a good life." Speaking of her child, Lauren's face lit up with happiness.

Ethan was surprised that Lauren was pregnant, unable to resist asking, "His?"

Lauren gave him a look, "Obviously!"

"No, that's not what I meant. I mean, does he know about your pregnancy? Did he agree to the divorce while you were pregnant?" Ethan asked with concern.

Lauren sighed, "The state of our marriage has reached this point, a child won't be able to save it. Have you ever loved someone, loved them deeply, but they didn't love you back? It's truly exhausting."

‘How could I not know? The person I love is right in front of me, but I can't say it. What should I do to make you happy?’ Ethan pondered painfully.

"You see, I'm talking about negative things again. By the way, have you had a girlfriend in the past two years? American girls seem very beautiful and sexy, have you been tempted?" Lauren changed the subject, not wanting to dwell on her past.

Ethan shook his head, "No, I don't like those kinds of girls."

"You're so popular, no one's chasing after you?"

"Tomorrow, I'll help you find a place to stay!" Ethan suddenly said seriously.

Lauren was taken aback, not understanding why he suddenly brought up this topic. But she needed help now, so she naturally wouldn't refuse her good friend's offer.

"Okay. Thank you. I didn't expect you to show up when I was at my lowest, making me feel a bit embarrassed." Lauren scratched her head shyly.

Ethan looked at Lauren with a doting expression, then continued to serve her delicious food.

Quentin returned to the villa once again, calmer this time. He regretted storming off impulsively earlier, he should have gone back and listened to Lauren's explanation.

But how could the proud Quentin allow himself to do that, he was used to women throwing themselves at him. Besides, it was clearly the woman who unreasonably wanted a divorce, why should he seek reconciliation? And she had no sense of propriety, being so intimate with another man in public, did she not realize she was a married woman!

Damn, this conflict was driving him crazy!

After dinner, Lauren returned to her room. She entered the bathroom, preparing to take a relaxing hot bath to wash away all the negativity.

Despite the quietness, sadness resurfaced in Lauren's heart.

Quentin, he still hadn't come to find her in the end...

She didn't want Quentin to find her on the surface, but deep down, she hoped he would learn about her impending divorce and come back to her on his own. With the power of the Robinson Conglomerate, finding her should be easy, right?

"Lauren, what are you fantasizing about? You're already divorced from him! Stop thinking about these meaningless things!" Lauren sank into the bathtub, trying to calm herself down.

It was destined to be a sleepless night, Lauren, Quentin, and Ethan, each lying in their own beds, staring at the ceiling.

Lauren despaired as she realized she still loved Quentin, missing him terribly. Her longing for him was like the air, omnipresent.

Quentin was astonished to find that the seemingly insignificant Lauren had slowly, bit by bit, conquered his heart.

Ethan's feelings were complex, discovering that the divorced Lauren still couldn't let go of the man who hurt her deeply. He also doubted greatly whether he was the one who could truly make Lauren happy. Regardless, he would strive to do so!

The next day, Ethan figured Lauren should be awake by now, so he approached her room and knocked on the door.

Lauren rubbed her dark circles, ran to the bathroom to wash her face, then opened the door.

"Good morning, Ethan," Lauren greeted him proactively.

As Ethan entered, he noticed Lauren's wet face and couldn't help but say, "Why are you washing your face with cold water? Can't you take care of yourself a bit? Besides, you're not alone now, being so casual with your unborn child isn't good."

Seeing Ethan, who couldn't stop talking as soon as he entered, Lauren chuckled.

"Ethan, when did you become such a talkative man? Do you know you sound just like my mom?"

"Lauren, can you be serious? It's been two years, and you still don't know how to take care of yourself. How can I trust you to find a place to live on your own?" Ethan stared at Lauren seriously.
