Chapter 452 You Softened

In the blink of an eye, half a month had passed.

Odette's injuries were gradually healing, so she moved back to the villa to recuperate.

However, her amnesia showed no signs of improvement. She remained cheerful every day, and the only person who seemed to have any complaints was Quentin.

One evening, while Quentin was in the shower, Odette sneaked into the room.

Lauren was startled when she saw her, her expression a bit unnatural. "Odette, what are you doing here again?"

Odette made a mysterious gesture. "Shh, Lauren. I want to surprise Quentin."

As they were talking, the bathroom door opened.

Before Lauren could stop her, Quentin walked in, wrapped only in a towel around his waist.

Quentin froze when he saw Odette, his voice filled with suppressed anger. "Odette! Who let you into my room again?"

Odette trembled and quickly hid behind Lauren. "Lauren, help me."

Quentin didn't know whether to be angry or amused.

Odette sure knew how to find herself a protector.

Lauren looked at Quentin with helpless eyes. She couldn't do much about Odette's amnesia, and besides, they owed her this much. It was a form of compensation.

"Quentin, let it go. Don't argue with her."

"Lauren, you can't keep indulging her. Odette, get out."

Quentin was decisive by nature. He immediately reached out to pull Odette off the bed.

Odette wasn't strong enough to resist, so she turned to Lauren for help.

Despite Lauren's reluctance to have Odette disturb them, her guilt towards Odette made her protect her.

Quentin had no choice but to retreat to his study, sulking.

After locking the study door, Quentin's demeanor changed to that of a ruthless businessman. His tenderness was reserved only for those he loved.

Quentin made a call. "Felix, I need you to find out who the biological father of Odette's child is. Bring him to me once you find him."

"Yes, Mr. Robinson. Anything else?"

Even though it was already midnight, Felix didn't dare complain to Quentin. After all, he was just an employee.

"Also, find an experienced neurologist from abroad. I'm not comfortable with Odette's amnesia."

Quentin's tone softened slightly, and Felix quickly understood his meaning. "Mr. Robinson, do you suspect Ms. Foster might be faking her amnesia to stay here?"

"I'm just speculating. I need an expert to confirm it."

Quentin couldn't help but feel a headache whenever he thought about how close Odette and Lauren had become recently.

If it turned out that Odette was faking her amnesia, Lauren would be devastated.

"I understand, Mr. Robinson. I'll have someone keep an eye on her."

The next day, after Lauren dropped Matthew off at school, Quentin called her to the study.

Odette was taken to the garden by the maid to play.

Quentin had finally found a chance to talk to Lauren alone.

"What's wrong? You look so serious. Are you still mad about last night with Odette and me?"

Lauren teased him with a smile, but Quentin ignored her. "Lauren, you've been getting too close to Odette lately. It's not a good thing."

"What do you mean? Isn't it what you wanted, for us to get along? Odette has become so sweet since her amnesia."

Lauren hadn't realized the potential danger behind this situation.

Quentin didn't hesitate to spell it out for her.

"What if she's faking her amnesia to deceive you? And don't forget, she's a criminal. She'll end up in jail sooner or later."

Lauren was taken aback, having completely forgotten that Odette was a criminal.

"Quentin, do we have to send Odette to jail? The conditions there are terrible. She's just a girl; she can't endure that. Can't we think of another way?"

Quentin looked at Lauren's tearful eyes and sighed. "The point is, Odette might be deceiving you, using your kindness to avoid jail."

Seeing that her emotional appeal did not affect Quentin, Lauren's expression turned cold.

"Look at Odette now. Does she seem like she's faking it? Quentin, don't assume everyone is bad."

"Am I assuming the worst, or are you being too naive? How many times has Odette tricked you, and you still haven't learned?"

Quentin wanted to grab Lauren and spank her until she learned her lesson.

"I don't care," Lauren glared back at Quentin defiantly. "If you want to send Odette to jail, you'll have to get through me first."

Lauren was determined to protect Odette, and Quentin had no choice but to end the conversation on a sour note.

Because of Odette, they had a cold war for two days, neither speaking to the other.

Matthew was the first to notice something was wrong. "Mommy, did you and Daddy fight? You two haven't been talking much."

Lauren was startled.

Adults fighting was something children shouldn't notice, as it could affect them.

Lauren quickly denied it.

"Of course not, Matthew. You must be mistaken. I've just been busy lately, so I haven't had time to talk to Daddy."

"Really?" Matthew was skeptical.

"Of course. Now, you need to get to school, or you'll be late and miss out on today's school rewards."

Matthew, though smart, was still a child and easily distracted by Lauren.

"Right, I need to get to school. Bye, Mommy."

Lauren bent down, and Matthew kissed her cheek before heading to school with the butler.

After sending Matthew off, Lauren returned to the living room, where Quentin was sitting on the couch.

She walked past him without a glance, but Quentin suddenly called out to her.

"Get ready. This afternoon, we're taking Odette to the beach."

Lauren immediately became wary. "The beach? Why are we going to the beach? Don't forget, Odette might be afraid of the water."

Quentin put down his newspaper and went upstairs without explaining.

Lauren was furious but had no choice but to take Odette to the car in the afternoon.

The car drove for over two hours before arriving at a deserted beach.
