Chapter 319 Brothers Turn Against Each Other

Lauren lifted her head, staring blankly at Quentin's back. She had no clue what he was trying to say or how to break the awkward silence.

Quentin yanked the steering wheel, making the car swerve, and Lauren was thrown to one side.

Quentin frowned and said coldly, "Don't thank me for today. I just can't be as heartless as you. Brent was out for revenge against me. He wanted to kidnap my son, and you just got caught in the middle."

Lauren nodded, turned to look out the window, and replied softly, "Still, I have to thank you. I'm sorry for messing up your engagement ceremony."

Quentin sneered. After all this, Lauren still had the nerve to bring up his engagement. Did she really want him to marry Sophia that badly?

Furious, he wished he could throw Lauren out of the car right then and there!

The car screeched to a halt.

Lauren's forehead hit the back of the front seat, and Matthew woke up in her arms.

Matthew looked at Lauren, confused and crying, "Mommy, I'm so scared! I want to go home!"

Lauren's heart ached as she gently patted Matthew. "It's okay, we're going home soon. The bad guys are gone. Don't be afraid, Matthew!"

Matthew was truly terrified, trembling in Lauren's arms.

Hearing Matthew's voice, Quentin felt a pang of sadness. He awkwardly turned to look at Lauren and Matthew in the back seat, speaking coldly, "Now you know fear! Will you still dare to run around alone in the future?"

Quentin's expression was serious, but his tone was full of worry and concern.

Matthew was thrilled to hear Quentin's voice.

"Daddy, you can't leave us alone! You don't like that lady, do you? You like Mommy more, right?" Matthew's tone was a bit smug. Seeing his parents together made him the happiest.

Lauren quickly covered Matthew's mouth, telling him sternly, "Don't worry about other people's business. Be good and sleep. We'll be home soon."

Matthew pouted but didn't say anything more.

Lauren glanced at Quentin and saw that his expression was unchanged. She secretly sighed in relief.

Quentin's lips curled up. Matthew's words had lifted his spirits. He stepped on the gas, and the car started moving smoothly again.

When they reached their destination, Lauren hurriedly got out of the car. "Thanks for bringing us back."

Quentin didn't get out. He looked at Lauren coldly and said, "I'll send someone to protect you until Brent's matter is completely resolved."

Lauren didn't refuse. To protect Matthew, she no longer cared about unimportant things like pride. "Thank you. Sorry for the trouble during this time."

Lauren's eyes were deep. This wasn't a long-term solution. Reality was forcing her to make a decision.

Quentin turned his head indifferently, then started the engine. The car sped away from Lauren's sight.

After getting Lauren and Matthew to safety, Quentin didn't head back to the hotel right away. Brent's last words were still ringing in his ears.

He pulled out his phone and called Noah, setting up a meeting at a different hotel.

Noah showed up with a sour look on his face, plopping down across from Quentin, clearly ticked off.

Quentin raised an eyebrow, "What's got you all riled up?"

Noah snorted, "Don't play dumb! Why didn't you rush back to the hotel after everything was sorted? Do you have any idea how hard it was for Sophia to handle those guests alone? What the hell are you thinking?"

Quentin just smiled, not bothered by Noah's outburst.

Noah's anger flared even more. "You handed over your shares to me for Lauren and Matthew, but what have you ever done for Sophia? You promised to get engaged to her, and now you're bailing. What's your deal?"

Quentin waited for Noah to finish his rant before speaking calmly, "You know Brent's situation. He was gunning for me. Isn't it odd that someone as reckless as Brent would plan out Matthew and Lauren's kidnapping so carefully?"

Noah blinked, taken aback. "What are you getting at? What are you suspecting?"

"Sophia isn't as innocent as you think. I know you like her, but don't let that blind you to the facts. Don't let her use you," Quentin said, looking Noah straight in the eye.

Noah was his closest friend, practically a brother. He didn't want to see him get hurt, which was why he was being upfront.

But love made people do crazy things.

Noah's face twisted with anger. "Quentin, what are you implying? Are you accusing Sophia and me of something shady? I can't believe you'd stoop so low! Sophia has given you everything, and now you doubt her? What kind of spell has Lauren cast on you to make you trust her so blindly while treating Sophia like dirt?"

Quentin didn't expect this reaction. "Noah, you're misunderstanding me. You're too naive about relationships."

"Enough! Do you even trust me? Fine, if that's how you feel, I won't transfer the shares of Robinson Conglomerate to you. Do whatever you want!" Noah cut him off, his anger boiling over.

To him, Sophia was perfect. He couldn't stand anyone badmouthing her, not even Quentin.

Noah knew Quentin's track record with relationships, but he couldn't accept that Quentin no longer loved Sophia.

Noah was torn. He loved Sophia but also wanted her to be with Quentin. He never considered confessing his own feelings to her.

Quentin watched Noah storm out, feeling a mix of emotions.

When would Noah grow up and stop believing everything he saw at face value?

Quentin shook his head, then decisively dialed another number. "I need you to check if Sophia and Ruby have had any dealings with the Obsidian Gang."
