Chapter 304 The Deal

Lauren didn't really get why Quentin and Brent were always at each other's throats, but seeing Quentin's face, she knew it wasn't the time to ask. So, she kept quiet and kept an eye on Brent.

Ethan, on the other hand, didn't care at all. He was dead set on handling this before Quentin could, just to show the Walker family they shouldn't mess with him. He wanted everyone to see that Lauren had made the right call by choosing him.

Ethan jumped in, "Mr. Reynolds, name your price. I'll pay whatever it takes to let Ulysses go."

Ethan's words broke the silence, and Brent burst out laughing.

"Hahaha, your money means nothing to me," Brent said, giving Quentin a knowing look. Quentin's face was stone cold.

Quentin silently cursed Ethan for being so clueless, thinking he was more of a problem than a solution.

Lauren was frustrated too, but she couldn't just ignore Ethan. She took a deep breath and said to Brent, "Mr. Reynolds, tell us what you want, and we can talk it over."

With a sigh, Brent looked at Lauren and said, "My demands are impossible for you to meet—except for Mr. Robinson."

Ethan got mad and slammed his fist on the table, standing up. "Mr. Reynolds, if Quentin can do it, then so can I. Don't underestimate me."

Brent's bodyguards pulled out their guns and aimed at Ethan. But Ethan, not one to back down, stood his ground.

Lauren was super worried about Ethan. She knew he was losing it today and was hell-bent on outdoing Quentin. She was scared Ethan might piss off Brent and make things worse.

"Ethan, shut up!" Lauren quickly stood up, grabbed Ethan's sleeve, and pushed him back into his seat. She then looked at Brent and said, "Mr. Reynolds, he's drunk and talking nonsense. Please don't take him seriously. Ulysses is my father, and I'll meet your demands."

Brent looked at Lauren mockingly and shook his head. Pointing at Ethan, he said, "Since you like to take charge, here's the deal. Cut off one of Mr. Robinson's arms, and I'll let Ulysses go."

Lauren and Ethan's faces went pale. Ethan stared at Brent in shock.

"What? Scared?" Brent taunted.

Even though he hated Quentin, Ethan couldn't bring himself to cut off Quentin's arm.

Lauren, with a stern face, said, "Mr. Reynolds, you're known for being reasonable. We live in a society with laws, and what you're asking is illegal."

"Hahaha, talking about the law now? That's rich! Mr. Robinson, I didn't expect your ex-wife to be so entertaining. I'm really starting to like you both," Brent laughed, his face wrinkling like a prune.

Lauren felt both angry and embarrassed, wishing she could get out of there right away.

At that moment, Quentin snorted, "One of my arms is enough for you?"

Brent's smile vanished, and he got serious. "We've been at each other's throats for years. Sure, I could kill you now, but where's the fun in that? Watching the great Mr. Robinson become a cripple? Now that's entertainment."

"Fine! But you better keep your word!" Quentin agreed without a second thought.

He actually agreed! Lauren was stunned, but a warm feeling spread through her chest.

Was he doing this for her? Why was he doing this?

Lauren felt both touched and conflicted, with a million questions she wanted to ask Quentin but couldn't.

She tried to steady herself, speaking to Quentin, "Mr. Robinson, this isn't your fight. Thank you for stepping up."

Then she turned to Brent, her voice firm. "Mr. Reynolds, if you need an arm to let my father go, take mine."

Quentin glanced at Lauren, thinking she still didn't get it. Brent's real target was him. Ulysses was just bait.

Lauren's serious offer didn't change Brent's mind. He looked at Quentin with a smirk and said, "Mr. Robinson, you are known for being gentle with women. Can you really watch such a beauty lose an arm?"

Quentin didn't respond, just stared at Brent calmly, like he was trying to read him.

Brent was irked by Quentin's cool demeanor. He hated how Quentin always acted like he had everything under control. It drove him nuts!

"Forget it, I still want Mr. Robinson's arm more. So, will this gentleman cut off Mr. Robinson's arm for me, or should I do it myself?" Brent asked, his voice dripping with malice.

Ethan hesitated. He hadn't expected Brent to be this cruel. If it was about money, he'd pay any amount. But now Brent wanted Quentin's arm.

Lauren glared at Brent and declared, "Mr. Reynolds, if you insist on this, I don't think we have anything to discuss."

"Do you think this is a negotiation? Do you think you're in a position to make demands? Don't forget, you're on my turf. If I say you live, you live. If I say you die, you won't make it out of here," Brent responded calmly, but with a menacing edge.

Lauren knew Brent had the power to back up his threats, but she didn't want Quentin dragged into this. The thought of Quentin losing an arm for her made her feel like she was sinking into a pit of despair.

Lauren looked at Quentin nervously. She didn't understand why Brent was targeting him. Why was Quentin so indifferent, like it didn't even matter?

At that moment, Quentin laughed, his eyes full of confidence. "Brent, do you really think I came here unprepared?"

Quentin's words wiped the smug look off Brent's face. Brent glared at Quentin, knowing how formidable he was. But he couldn't believe Quentin could fight his way out and leave with the others.
