Chapter 129 The End of the Banquet

Lauren naturally did not mind these things. All she ever wanted was for her family to be safe and happy. She could not understand why Ulysses was so obsessed with the company's interests.

Ulysses stood anxiously to the side, looking for an opportunity to speak with Lauren alone about the Walker Corporation. He wanted Lauren to ask Quentin for help.

But with Grandma Robinson around, he could not find a chance.

Finally, after much hesitation, Ulysses decided to call Lauren out for a talk. "Lauren, when I came in earlier, I saw the sea behind the hotel. Would you like to go take a look?" Ulysses said, giving Kimberly a meaningful glance and hoping she would cooperate.

Kimberly understood Ulysses' intention. She was truly fed up with him, always using Lauren without a trace of care or concern for her.

"Lauren, don't go. The banquet will start soon. Quentin won't be able to find you," Kimberly said.

Hearing this, Ulysses was furious that Kimberly not only didn't help but also undermined him.

Lauren noticed that Ulysses had something on his mind. She chose to ignore it, given her awkward position. She couldn't agree to any more of his requests.

Grandma Robinson sensed the strange atmosphere and decided to give them some space. She stood up and said, "Lauren, you haven't seen your mother in a long time. Why don't you spend some time with them? When Quentin arrives, I'll have him find you."

Lauren was very grateful for Grandma Robinson's understanding.

With Kimberly's support, she stood up and walked out of the lounge. "Dad, just say what you want to say," Lauren said sadly, wondering why her relationship with Ulysses had come to this.

Ulysses smiled happily. "Lauren, we must first congratulate you. I hear that Quentin plans to introduce you to everyone today, which means your status is confirmed. That's wonderful."

Kimberly's face turned grim. She had always known Ulysses was scheming, but seeing him treat his own daughter like this was too much.

"Lauren's matters have nothing to do with us. We haven't done anything for her, so we shouldn't expect anything in return," Kimberly said coldly.

Ulysses shot a fierce look at Kimberly. "What do you know? Lauren is successful now and, naturally, won't forget her parents. Isn't that right, Lauren?"

Lauren felt powerless. "Dad, no need to beat around the bush. If something has happened at home, just say it plainly."

"Straightforward, just like my daughter. It's like this. Your uncles have been causing me trouble recently, insisting on dividing Walker Corporation's shares. I hope Quentin can step in and help me resolve this," Ulysses said seriously.

Lauren fell silent. She knew that Ulysses seeking her out was not for anything good.

"Dad, this is a Walker family matter. Quentin shouldn't get involved. Though I say something, it won't help," Lauren said.

"Are you unwilling to help? Quentin is my son-in-law. Of course, he should be involved! Just convey my words to Quentin, and he will surely help," Ulysses said, his face red with anger, and then he stormed off.

Kimberly felt sorry for Lauren, but she couldn't control Ulysses. She was living a very difficult life.

"Lauren, don't stress over it. If you don't want to do it, then don't do it," Kimberly said, looking at Lauren with sadness.

Lauren forced a smile and said, "I'm fine."

"We can see the sea from over there. Let's go," Kimberly suggested, hoping to cheer Lauren up.

Lauren shook her head and said, "Mom, I don't want to go. Let's go back."

Kimberly sighed inwardly and said, "You're right. We shouldn't keep Quentin waiting."

They quickly returned to the lounge. Grandma Robinson noticed that Lauren didn't look well, but with Kimberly present, she didn't ask any questions.

After more than half an hour, Quentin came to the lounge and asked Lauren and Grandma Robinson to get ready to go on stage.

Lauren's heart raced. She knew that once she went down, she would face the spotlight of many media outlets and live under public scrutiny.

Quentin took the stage and said, "Today, I have two pieces of good news to announce. The first is that I want to introduce my wife, Lauren, to everyone formally."

At this moment, everyone present followed Quentin's gaze and looked at Lauren.

Lauren smiled gently, straightened her back, and walked step by step to the stage.

"Is she Lauren? I guess right. She's pregnant!"

"Seems like the rumors about their bad relationship weren't true."

"Lauren looks quite beautiful, but it seems we've never seen her before."

Lauren walked confidently towards Quentin.

When Lauren reached the center of the stage, she gently said, "Hello, everyone. Thank you all for coming to the fifteenth anniversary of the Robinson Conglomerate. We couldn't have achieved so much without your support, and we hope you'll continue to support us."

Lauren was poised and graceful, fitting the part of Mrs. Robinson perfectly.

Quentin looked at her with adoration. He had never seen Lauren exude such extraordinary grace, and he was very pleased with her performance.

The guests were very surprised and took a moment to react. After a few seconds, someone started clapping, and soon the room was filled with thunderous applause.

Quentin reached out and wrapped his arm around Lauren's waist, showing great intimacy.

"As you can see, the second piece of good news is that my wife is pregnant. I am about to become a father. The Robinson Conglomerate will soon welcome its future heir," Quentin said, looking at Lauren with passionate eyes while Lauren returned his gaze.

Another round of thunderous applause erupted from the audience. "Congratulations, Mr. Robinson," the crowd congratulated.

The media crowded over. "Mr. Robinson, may we interview you and your wife?"

"Of course," Quentin said, showing a rare smile.

The reporters were very excited, but before they could ask any questions, their phones rang. Soon, all the media present received a message at the same time.

The reporters apologized and checked their phones, only to be stunned by the content. They whispered among themselves, completely ignoring Quentin.

Quentin was a bit angry. These reporters were not showing him any respect. Just as Quentin was about to lose his temper, a reporter spoke up.

"Sorry, Mr. Robinson, I just received the latest news that Wendy was arrested and claimed your wife framed her. Is there any truth to this?"
