Chapter 86 Stay

Quentin seemed entirely oblivious to Lauren's words. He busied himself by opening his bag and taking out his change of clothes and toiletries, as if he intended to lie down and sleep the very next moment.
Lauren shook her head and walked over to Quentin. "Mr. Robinson, you see, I only have one room here. I doubt you can get used to such a small place, so..."
"I don't mind. I can make do for a night," Quentin coldly uttered.
Then he stood up and went straight to the bathroom to wash up.
Lauren paced anxiously outside. The rental was just this small, with only one bed in the house. It was late autumn, and too cold to sleep on the floor. The only other piece of furniture was a sofa less than five feet long, and Quentin's frame certainly couldn’t fit on it.
Quentin insists on staying. Does he want to sleep with me? The thought made Lauren blush. She had only spent two nights with Quentin. The first time, she had schemed against him. The second time, he had forced her to stay at the Robinson family's ancestral home.
No, I absolutely can't let Quentin stay! Resolute in her decision, Lauren immediately pushed the door open with force.
"Quentin, you can't stay here overnight!" Lauren shouted.
When Lauren opened her eyes, she saw a naked Quentin looking at her in surprise, and she froze. Quentin's fair skin was even better than hers, and his chest was muscular and well-defined. As her gaze traveled downward, she saw a set of finely chiseled abs, and further down...
"You are shameless!" Lauren screamed, quickly turning away.
Quentin looked at the flustered Lauren with great interest and said, "You barged into the bathroom."
Quentin's voice was magnetic, making Lauren's face flush instantly.
"I came to tell you that you have to leave. That's not the point. The point is, why are you undressing in my bathroom, and why do you take off everything?" Lauren still covered her face, recalling the embarrassing scene she had just witnessed.
Quentin put on his underwear and said, "I have a habit of changing all my clothes before I sleep. Your house is so small. If I don't change in the bathroom, should I do it in front of you? Mrs. Robinson, are you so eager to barge in to get a good look at my body?"
Quentin's teasing words made Lauren feel utterly humiliated. She retorted, "I've already experienced your body. It doesn't attract me at all!"
After saying that, Lauren opened the door to run away, but Quentin wouldn't let her go. Saying his body had no allure was an outright insult.
Quentin grabbed Lauren. Lauren lost her balance, falling against his bare chest. She was too embarrassed to look or touch, struggling with all her might.
"Quentin, what are you trying to do? Let go of me!" Lauren demanded.
"What am I trying to do? What do you think I would do?" Quentin whispered into Lauren's ear, turning her ears pink in an instant.
Quentin was very pleased with Lauren's reaction. Women were always such contradictory creatures, clearly feeling something but refusing to admit it.
Quentin took Lauren's hand and placed it on his chest. "Tell me, where exactly do I not attract you?"
Lauren was dizzy from Quentin's suggestive words. She wished she could find a place to escape immediately.
"I..." Lauren couldn't find the words, feeling utterly ashamed.
Such a shy Lauren was, in fact, very attractive to Quentin. He felt a reaction in his lower body and couldn't help but curse himself for being so weak. Initially, he had intended to tease Lauren a bit, but he hadn't expected to set himself on fire.
Quentin immediately let go of Lauren. He still remembered how, due to his recklessness last time, Lauren had almost had a miscarriage. He dared not touch her again, even though he was now burning with desire.
Seeing Quentin release her, Lauren felt a sense of relief as she opened the door and turned to leave.
Once in her room, Lauren quickly locked the door. Now Quentin wouldn't be able to barge in. As long as he couldn't get in, he would sensibly leave.
Lauren threw herself onto the bed, feeling her heart still pounding wildly. That had been a close call.
It was only then that Lauren realized how dangerous Quentin was. She felt like a little white rabbit that had narrowly escaped the clutches of a big bad wolf.
Lauren listened carefully to the sounds outside her bedroom door. She wondered if Quentin would just leave, but her feelings were complicated because she didn't want Quentin to leave.
After a long time, the door did not close, indicating that Quentin hadn't left. Lauren lay on the bed and accidentally fell asleep. When she woke up again, it was already two a.m.
Lauren gently opened the door and went to the living room, where she saw Quentin awkwardly curled up on the small sofa, asleep.
Lauren felt an inexplicable pang of sadness. Quentin had always been cold and domineering in front of her. But now, it was the first time she had seen him lying quietly on the sofa with a frown.
Was he frowning because his sleeping position was uncomfortable? Or was he troubled by some unhappy dream?
Lauren returned to her room, found a blanket, and gently covered Quentin with it before turning back to her room.
Lauren felt more at ease than ever before. She knew this sense of peace was because Quentin was there. This man, whom she loved deeply, had given her as much happiness as he had pain. Thinking of this, Lauren fell into a sweet sleep.
What Lauren didn't know was that shortly after she fell asleep, Quentin approached, then gently got into bed, slipped under her covers, and wrapped an arm around her waist. They slept in a harmonious embrace.
The next day, Lauren woke up feeling comfortable. She blinked her eyes, not noticing anything unusual. It wasn't until she got up that she realized there was a hand around her waist.
Lauren felt as if she had been struck by lightning and immediately jumped up.
When had Quentin come in? How had he gotten in?
Lauren looked at the bedroom door and remembered that after covering Quentin with the blanket last night, she had forgotten to lock the door when she returned to her room. She hadn't expected him to sneak into her room!
Lauren wanted to get angry, but when she saw Quentin's peaceful sleeping face, she couldn't bring herself to do it.
As the president of Robinson Conglomerate, Quentin must be very busy and tired. Since he had this rare opportunity, she decided to let him rest well.
Lauren sighed. What exactly was the nature of her relationship with Quentin now? She couldn't figure it out, and thinking about it made her a bit depressed.
If everything Quentin had done in the past two days was to brush off the issue with Wendy, then he had miscalculated.
Although Lauren had fallen in love with him at first sight and insisted on marrying him, she was not a casual girl. She was not casual physically, nor was she casual mentally.
