Chapter 68 Divorce Without Property

Thinking of the child, Lauren was filled with guilt. The child was innocent, yet the mistakes of adults ultimately fell on the children to bear the pain. For the first time, Lauren regretted why she had been so insistent on marrying Quentin.

Quentin had not been caring toward the child, so in the event of a divorce, she should be able to get custody of the child, right? After all, Wendy was now pregnant, so he would soon have another child.

Hungry, Lauren arrived at a noodle shop, ordered a bowl of noodles, and sat quietly in a small corner to finish her meal alone.

Back at the villa, despite Housekeeper Robinson's concerned gaze, Lauren hurried into her room, opened her computer, and began drafting a divorce agreement.

This time, it was a real divorce; this time, Quentin would not disagree; this time, she really should give up.

Printing out the divorce agreement, tears streamed down Lauren's face as she signed it.

Signing that name meant that she and Quentin would have no further ties, and it meant she was free. Freedom was something Lauren had always longed for, but when she finally got it, she couldn't be happy because she truly loved Quentin, deep in her bones.

But no matter how much she loved Quentin, he did not love her. Lauren hesitated as she held the pen at the signature line, memories of her past with Quentin flooding her mind.

Quentin's help, Quentin's indifference, Quentin's dominance, Quentin's affection—perhaps that affection was just her illusion, after all, he had no love for her, and even if he pampered her, it was all in vain.

With determination, Lauren signed her name. It was over, all of it was over. Quentin, you are also free now!

Next, Lauren began to pack her bags. She didn't have much luggage; she hadn't accumulated many possessions over the past two years. After neatly packing her clothes, Lauren grabbed her suitcase and went downstairs.

Seeing Lauren with her suitcase, Housekeeper Robinson panicked. He had noticed earlier that Lauren had returned looking very unwell and pale, thinking she was tired, but he never expected her to pack her bags and leave.

"Madam, are you leaving?" Housekeeper Robinson hurried to catch up with Lauren, asking with concern.

Lauren stopped, tears leaving traces on her determined face.

"Uncle Robinson, I'm leaving. I brought with me what I had when I got married, and now I'm taking it all back. I'm not taking anything from the Robinson Family."

Housekeeper Robinson grew even more anxious. "Madam, what do you mean by that? Has something happened? Where are you going? Does Quentin know?"

Lauren smiled briefly and said, "Uncle Robinson, thank you very much for taking care of me. Love has come to an end here. There's no point in saying more. I hope you all will be happy and safe in the future."

After speaking, Lauren continued walking with her suitcase. Housekeeper Robinson followed behind like an ant on a hot pan, unable to stop her, unable to do anything to stop her.

"Madam, can you tell me where you're going? You're pregnant; I can't bear to let you leave alone."

Housekeeper Robinson pleaded with Lauren. But Lauren was determined to leave, and the closer Housekeeper Robinson got, the faster she walked. Finally, unable to see Lauren suffer, Housekeeper Robinson quickly called Quentin.

But Quentin was in a meeting at the moment, and his phone was on silent mode. By the time he finished the meeting and returned Housekeeper Robinson's call, Lauren had already disappeared without a trace.

"What's going on?" Quentin hung up the phone and immediately rushed back to the villa, but by then, the building was empty.

"Young Master, you're finally back. Madam insisted on leaving, and I couldn't stop her." Housekeeper Robinson anxiously explained to Quentin as he followed him.

But Quentin couldn't focus; he quickly went to Lauren's room and saw it was tidy as if the owner of the room was still there.

Quentin scanned the room and saw a paper on the bed. He quickly walked over and saw a divorce agreement already signed by Lauren.

Quentin picked up the divorce agreement and read the contents: she didn't want any property, and she wanted custody of the child.

Lauren, couldn't you wait for me before leaving like this!

Quentin was angry, but more than that, he felt empty inside. Looking at the empty closet, Quentin felt like the whole house had lost its warmth.

Quentin sat on the bed in a daze, Lauren had left, without leaving any message, not even a word to him. Why? Why did she suddenly leave? What did all his efforts mean to her?

He felt ridiculous; Lauren was a love deceiver. At first, he didn't love her, but she schemed to make him marry her. Now, when he started to care a little, she ran away.

After a long silence, Quentin took out his phone and dialed a number. "Find out what Lauren did today, who she met, what happened."

Impatiently, Quentin took off his suit, loosened his tie, and walked out of the bedroom in a dejected manner.

Housekeeper Robinson watched Quentin with concern. As an outsider, he could see clearly that Quentin and Lauren deeply loved each other, so why did they hurt each other?

"Young Master, go find Madam and bring her back. She's pregnant; it must be very hard for her to be alone." Housekeeper Robinson kindly advised.

Quentin looked at Housekeeper Robinson with cold eyes, the first time in many years he had looked at him this way.

"She comes and goes as she pleases. Does she think the Robinson Family is a hotel?" Quentin said in a tone that showed his anger.

Housekeeper Robinson knew Quentin was angry, unable to calm him down. Perhaps only after he vented his anger would he realize his true feelings.

"Young Master, I can see that Madam loves you. Although I don't know what happened, I believe that as long as you take the initiative to find her, she will definitely come back."

"No need. Even if she wants to come back, I won't allow it." Quentin walked away quickly, not wanting to continue discussing the matter with Housekeeper Robinson.

But one can deceive others but not oneself. Only Quentin knew how much Lauren's departure had affected him. He never thought he would give up everything for a woman, even his company, and be so stubborn.

Housekeeper Robinson watched Quentin walk away stubbornly, shaking his head helplessly. He and Lauren were indeed alike—equally stubborn, equally insincere.

Leaving the Robinson Family villa, Lauren did not return to the Walker Family. She knew that if she went back, life would only get harder. So, she decided to avoid everyone and start anew.

Touching her bank card, Lauren worried. She shouldn't have been so proud; she had actually left with nothing. The bank card only held her meager salary, not enough for her future expenses of having and raising a child.
