Chapter 140 Long Time No See
Upon hearing Quentin's words, Lauren cast an annoyed glance at him. "I'm not your junior. I'm not afraid of you at all!"
Quentin's lips curled into a smile as he walked over and embraced Lauren. "But you are my wife."
"We haven't registered yet, so who is your wife?" Lauren said shyly.
"Alright, don't argue. You know I don't say sweet things, but I want to tell you, Lauren, you are the one I want to spend my life with. I am willing to be bound by you." Quentin kissed Lauren's forehead, his demeanor solemn.
Lauren was moved. She nestled in his arms, feeling an unparalleled sense of security and stability. She knew this was the happiness she desired. "Quentin, I really love you," Lauren said emotionally.
"I know. I love you too. We will be happy," Quentin replied.
In this tender moment, Lauren suddenly cried out.
"What's wrong?" Quentin looked at Lauren with concern.
"I forgot. I haven't told Ethan that I moved out. What if he comes here looking for me and can't find me?" Lauren slapped her forehead. She had been so preoccupied with her romance that she had forgotten about Ethan.
Quentin rolled his eyes. He thought something serious had happened, but it turned out Lauren was thinking about Ethan.
He pulled Lauren back into his arms. "When you're with me, you're not allowed to think about other men."
Quentin was jealous.
Lauren gave Quentin a peck on the cheek. "Don't overthink it. Ethan and I are just good friends, and that's all. I've already agreed to move into the villa. What else are you worried about?"
Lauren's comforting kiss did have some effect. Quentin smiled faintly. He had nothing to worry about. He just wanted to continue being close to her.
"I'm not worried. No one in this world can take you away from me," Quentin said narcissistically.
Lauren remained silent at Quentin's self-praise. 'Oh well, Quentin is always this arrogant and proud. I am used to it,' Lauren thought.
Lauren took out her phone to call Ethan, only to find that his phone was turned off.
Since she couldn't reach him, she decided to send him a message, telling him that she had moved back to the Robinson family villa and that he shouldn't worry.
At that moment, Ethan was in his villa, utterly drunk. The television in the living room was playing the video of Lauren and Quentin's press conference.
Ethan smiled bitterly. The person standing beside Lauren in the end was not him.
Ethan gulped down more alcohol. He wished he could get drunk, but the more he wanted to sleep, the clearer his mind became, painfully reminding him that Lauren had completely left him. He no longer had the right to take care of her.
He had tried. When Lauren was being vilified online, he approached his father, hoping he would extend a helping hand to Lauren, but his father refused.
Ethan was naturally unwilling to give up, but his father kicked him out of the company, leaving him with no power to intervene.
Ethan was utterly desperate. He hadn't expected that in Lauren's most helpless moment, he couldn't help her at all. So, he felt too ashamed to face her.
Time was a torment for Ethan. He waited and finally got a good result. For Lauren, it should be good.
With Quentin's help, she explained those issues clearly. Anyway, she could finally stand openly by Quentin's side while he had completely lost his chance.
From the television came Lauren's clear and melodious voice. "I love him. I really do." Her eyes, filled with affection, were looking at Quentin, not him, so Ethan made a decision.
The next day, Lauren woke up in Quentin's arms. Warm and bright sunlight poured over the curtains.
"Quentin, you should go to work," Lauren said with a slight smile. Although this feeling was very comfortable, she didn't want to delay Quentin's work.
"No, I want to sleep a bit more." Quentin held Lauren's waist, inhaling the fragrance of her hair, feeling very cozy and happy.
Lauren smiled softly. "But it's not the weekend. You need to go to work."
"Stop nagging. Isn't it wonderful for us to sleep together like this?" Quentin frowned, rubbing his stubble against Lauren's cheek as if punishing her.
Lauren felt uncomfortable and laughed, begging for mercy. "Alright, let's consider today a holiday for you so you can sleep in."
Hearing this, Quentin finally let Lauren go. He had worked hard to bring Lauren back and intended to cherish every moment with her.
It was already late morning, and they were still lounging in bed. Housekeeper Robinson and the other servants did not disturb them.
However, Lauren's phone was inconveniently vibrating at that moment. Lauren picked it up and saw that it was Ethan.
She eagerly answered, "Ethan, where are you? Why haven't I heard from you lately? Are you okay?"
Ethan chuckled. "I'm fine, Lauren. Do you have time? I want to meet you. Can we talk in person?"
Lauren agreed without hesitation, "No problem, let's meet at our usual place at noon."
After she hung up, Quentin pounced on her. "Agree without my permission. See how I'll punish you."
Connecting with Ethan put Lauren in a good mood. "Alright, I really need to get up. I'm meeting Ethan. We've already arranged it."
Quentin continued to rub his stubbly chin against Lauren's cheek, punishing her.
After enduring Quentin's 'punishment,' Lauren quickly got up to get ready to meet Ethan.
Being considerate, Quentin drove her to the restaurant where she and Ethan had agreed to meet and waited in the car for her.
"Hi, Ethan, long time no see." Lauren smiled as she walked toward Ethan. As she got closer, she noticed that the once sunny and handsome Ethan had lost weight and had dark circles under his eyes.
"Ethan, what happened to you?" Lauren asked. His once sunny demeanor was now clouded with a touch of sadness.
Ethan gave her his signature smile. "It's nothing. Are you doing well? I've seen the recent news. I'm sorry I couldn't help you guys much."
Ethan's face was full of guilt. He genuinely wanted to help Lauren and Quentin resolve the crisis, regardless of whether Quentin was his biggest rival.
Lauren smiled and said, "It's okay, Ethan. I know you believe in me and understand me the most. That situation was complicated, and I didn't want you to get involved. But it's all over now. You don't need to feel guilty."
Lauren truly didn't hold the matter against him. Instead, she felt a bit guilty for not thinking of Ethan during that public opinion crisis.
