Chapter 370 Misunderstanding
"You can let go of me now." Lauren said.
Hearing Lauren say this, Gregory finally released his hand.
"Sorry, you're so beautiful, I got lost in looking at you," Gregory said candidly to Lauren.
"Stop teasing me," Lauren quickly returned to her seat.
However, that dance just now did lift Lauren's spirits quite a bit. After a few drinks, Lauren talked a lot about her and Quentin.
From how they met to their eventual separation, and now their remarriage, Lauren told Gregory everything.
Lauren had probably been holding it in for a long time, so she felt very relieved after saying it all. Gregory was her friend, so Lauren had nothing to hold back.
Lauren only remembered that she and Gregory kept talking, and then Gregory took her home. She couldn't remember anything that happened after that.
Lauren slightly opened her eyes. She had drunk too much last night, and her head was throbbing.
Glancing at the clock beside her, she found it was already eleven in the morning.
"Did I sleep that long?" Lauren sat up in bed, startled. "How did I get back?"
Lauren vaguely remembered that she had drunk too much, couldn't walk steadily, and had vomited all over herself.
"You're awake?" Gregory walked in with a glass of water and handed it to Lauren.
"What are you doing here?" Lauren quickly pulled the blanket over herself.
"You were vomiting so badly last night, I was afraid something might happen to you, so I stayed to take care of you," Gregory said, unable to stifle a yawn.
Seeing Gregory looking so sleepy, Lauren asked apologetically, "Did you stay up all night taking care of me and not sleep at all?"
Gregory didn't answer, just nodded.
"I'm really sorry," Lauren suddenly remembered something. "Did I..."
Gregory smiled, "Don't worry, I already paid for the dinner. As for what you owe me, you can treat me next time."
Hearing Gregory say this, Lauren felt even more guilty.
"Are you hungry? How about I make you something to eat?" Lauren wanted to make up for it.
As soon as her feet touched the ground, Lauren realized her clothes had been changed. She was wearing her usual pajamas.
"My clothes," Lauren looked at Gregory in surprise.
Gregory seemed to remember something and explained to Lauren, "You vomited all over yourself last night, so I had someone help you change. Don't worry, it wasn't me."
Lauren patted her chest in relief.
Lauren thought to herself, 'What are you thinking? Given Gregory's character, he wouldn't do something like that.'
Lauren led Gregory to the guest room and said, "Why don't you freshen up? I'll make lunch for you."
Gregory nodded and went in without saying a word.
Seeing how tired Gregory was, Lauren was even more determined to make him a good meal.
Halfway through cooking, Gregory came out after freshening up. "That smells delicious."
"Why don't you take a nap?" Lauren suggested.
"No, I'm not sleepy now. I'll just watch TV," Gregory said, sitting on the couch in the living room and turning on the TV.
"Wait a bit, I'll be done soon." Not wanting Gregory to wait too long, Lauren sped up her cooking.
Finally, the meal was ready. Lauren went to the living room to call Gregory to eat, only to find he had fallen asleep.
Worried that Gregory might catch a cold, Lauren took a blanket and walked over to cover him. Just as she was placing it on him, Gregory suddenly opened his eyes.
Startled, Lauren lost her balance and fell straight onto Gregory.
Their heads bumped into each other, and Gregory winced in pain.
Just as Lauren was about to apologize to Gregory, she heard the sound of the door lock turning.
Lauren yelled, "Oh no."
Before Lauren could get up, Quentin had already appeared in the living room.
Seeing his angry face, Lauren quickly got up.
"It's not what you think," Lauren tried to explain to Quentin, but then she noticed someone behind him.
Unexpectedly, he had brought Odette back, and Lauren's feelings became complicated.
"Who is he?" Quentin asked, looking at Gregory.
"Gregory Walker," Gregory answered proactively, "an employee of the Cloud Group, or rather, a former employee."
"The Cloud Group." Quentin knew that name.
Quentin said nothing more and walked straight in.
"Quentin, are we coming at a bad time?" Seeing Lauren and Gregory so close just now, Odette didn't know whether to enter or not.
"Come in." Quentin's simple and forceful words asserted his dominance.
Understanding Quentin's meaning, Gregory just smiled and said nothing more.
"Lauren, you don't know how worried Quentin was about you," Odette said as she walked over to Lauren. "He called you last night, but you didn't answer. He called again this morning, but there was no response. Quentin thought something had happened to you. So he left the company and rushed over to find you."
Lauren quickly took out her phone and saw several missed calls.
Lauren hesitated again. If she said she got drunk with Gregory last night, Quentin would be even angrier.
"And when we came in..." Odette trailed off, deliberately bringing up the incident again.
Lauren was a bit angry. Odette was clearly trying to cause trouble for her.
Lauren looked at Odette without saying a word, but her eyes clearly conveyed, "If Quentin came back because he was worried about me, why did you come along?"
Seeing Lauren's questioning look, Odette quickly explained, "Lauren, don't misunderstand. Quentin brought me back because he didn't want to leave me alone there. He was worried no one would take care of me."
"Well, he certainly is considerate of you," Odette's words stung Lauren's ears. This was her and Quentin's home. Why did Odette, an outsider, use the word "back"?
In just a few minutes, Gregory had a good understanding of the issues Lauren was facing from the conversation among the three.
Thinking this, Gregory couldn't help but smile slightly.
