Chapter 347 Matters of the Heart
Sophia knew Quentin was talking to her and that he was indeed angry, but this was exactly the effect she wanted.
"Am I really causing a scene?" Sophia smiled, looking as innocent and harmless as a little lamb. "Compared to what you and Lauren did at my engagement party, this is nothing."
Sophia relaxed and sat on a nearby bench, crossing her legs and gently swinging them.
Quentin didn't want to deal with Sophia and just gave Noah a fierce glare.
Noah knew Quentin was blaming him for telling Sophia about Quentin and Lauren's engagement today, but this time Noah could swear to God that he didn't leak the news to her.
"Sophia, how did you find out about this? I didn't tell you," Noah asked Sophia.
"Your thoughts are too easy to guess," Sophia laughed, covering her face. "You were so afraid of oversleeping and forgetting about it that you had sticky notes all over your house."
Hearing this, Noah suddenly realized and slapped his forehead hard.
When Sophia had pretended to accept his proposal, Noah had given her the keys to his house.
Later, when the incident at the coffee shop happened suddenly, Noah had forgotten that the keys were still with her.
"Here's your key back," Sophia said nonchalantly, placing Noah's house key on the table beside her.
"Sophia, stop it. Let me take you away." Noah said.
Even if Noah was a fool, he knew Sophia was here to cause trouble this time.
Just as Noah was about to persuade her, Sophia suddenly got angry.
"You're saying I'm causing trouble again?" Sophia stood up. "Why do you all blame me for everything? Did I really do something wrong?"
As she spoke, tears started to fall from Sophia's eyes. "You were the one who said you'd marry me, the one who went wedding dress shopping and got engaged with me, and the one who left me. Now you're the one getting engaged to another woman. Quentin, what do you really want?"
After saying this, Sophia looked pitiful, like she had been abandoned by Quentin, the president of Robinson Conglomerate.
There was so much explosive news that some reporters, unable to keep up, quietly recorded everything with their voice recorders.
So it was Quentin who had promised to marry Sophia.
Lauren only found out about this now.
Lauren had thought it was Sophia who confessed to Quentin, but it turned out Quentin had taken the initiative.
Thinking about this, Lauren couldn't help but feel disappointed.
"I did say I would marry you, but do you remember why?" Quentin asked Sophia.
"Of course I remember," Sophia smiled. "You were moved by my love, we were attracted to each other, so you agreed to marry me. The main reason was that I saved your life."
"This is so touching," the reporters, having heard this, all sided with Sophia.
How could such a kind woman like Sophia end up with Quentin?
The reporters couldn't help but feel sorry for Sophia.
"Was that accident really an accident?" Quentin retorted.
Quentin hadn't thought much about it before.
But now, seeing Sophia openly ruining his engagement party, Quentin couldn't help but start to wonder when Sophia's act had begun.
"What do you mean by that?" Sophia suddenly felt nervous hearing Quentin's words.
But knowing he didn't know the truth, Sophia resumed her act. "Now that you have Lauren, you don't even want to acknowledge the good I did for you?"
"At that time, Lauren had just had an accident. On my way back from settling accounts with your mother at your house, I immediately got into a car accident. Considering your character, I have to question the authenticity of that incident." Quentin said.
Even in such a situation, Quentin's rational analysis surprised Sophia.
"Quentin, you really disappoint me." Sophia said.
The story had reached its climax and was ready to end.
Sophia had timed it perfectly, cultivating her emotions, and her expression at that moment was tragically perfect.
Decisively turning around, Sophia cried as she pushed open the door and ran out.
"Sophia." Worried that something might happen to Sophia in her emotional state, Noah quickly followed her.
Now, only Quentin, Lauren, and the reporters were left in the hall, and no one spoke first.
Eventually, silence returned, and the crowd slowly dispersed.
Lauren looked at the silent Quentin, knowing he must be very angry, but she didn't know how to comfort him. She could only silently hold Quentin's hand.
Outside the hotel, snow was falling heavily.
"Sophia, Sophia!" Noah quickly caught up with Sophia and grabbed her.
"Why are you still following me?" Sophia asked.
Seeing that it was Noah who had caught up, Sophia felt a bit disappointed.
But soon, that emotion was replaced by anger.
"Don't you get it? I don't like you at all." Sophia didn't care if her words hurt Noah; she just wanted him to stay away from her.
"I know," Noah said with a bitter smile. "I know I should give up on you, but every time I see you sad and upset, I can't bear it."
Sophia didn't expect to leave a good impression on Noah anymore, so she said bluntly, "Sad? I was just pretending earlier."
"What?" Noah was a bit surprised, not expecting Sophia to say such a thing.
"That's right, I'm that kind of hypocritical woman. Are you satisfied now?" Sophia rolled her eyes at Noah impatiently. "So stop bothering me."
"Sophia." Noah said.
"I told you to stop following me!" Sophia said.
As Sophia said this, she walked quickly. Due to the heavy snow, there was a lot of water on the ground.
Sophia lost her footing and fell to the ground. Just as she was shakily getting up, she heard a sudden honk.
Startled by the sudden light, Sophia froze in place.
"Sophia!" Before she could see who it was, Sophia felt someone push her aside.
