Chapter 338 A Woman's Jealousy

Lauren was having a chill lunch with Quentin, feeling this warm, fuzzy happiness bubbling up inside her.

But she kept her head straight. She knew Quentin was super talented, and it wouldn't be long before he bounced back in his career.

When that happened, and he got his wealth back, would Quentin still remember her, the one who stuck by him through thick and thin?

Lauren had no clue and didn't want to dwell on it.

'Don't overthink it; just enjoy the good times right now,' she reminded herself.

So, she stayed quiet, finishing lunch with Quentin in peace.

What Lauren didn't know was that a woman outside had been watching them the whole time.

"Lauren, your moves are getting slicker," a voice said.

Not long after leaving the coffee shop, Lauren heard someone behind her say this.

She turned around and saw it was Sophia.

Hadn't she already left? Why was she still here?

"Do you need something?" Lauren wasn't in the mood to chat with Sophia.

Sophia's presence was definitely not a good sign.

"Do you even have the nerve to ask?" Sophia sneered, "Weren't you just having lunch with my fiancé in the coffee shop?"

Seeing her arrogant attitude, Lauren didn't back down and shot back, "But wasn't it you who got kicked out just now? Why didn't Quentin keep you and instead chose me?"

Sophia didn't expect the once timid Lauren to be so sharp-tongued.

Suppressing her anger, Sophia forced a smile, "Only a fool like you would believe a man's actions like that."

This was something Lauren had always worried about, and she didn't expect Sophia to say it out loud.

Seeing Lauren stunned for a moment, Sophia quickly caught on and continued, "Men are always looking for the next best thing. When has Quentin ever faced real trouble? With his skills, why would he stay in that small coffee shop? It's just because he hadn't tried it before and wanted to give it a shot. He will definitely abandon you when he becomes rich."

"Are you Quentin? What right do you have to speak for him? You're just making wild guesses about his thoughts," Lauren could think such things herself, but she wouldn't let Sophia humiliate her like this.

"Don't believe me?" Sophia flipped her long hair back, "Then tell me one reason why he chose you."

This question stumped Lauren. She had never thought about it.

Why did Quentin choose her? Was it because she was easy to fool? Or because they had so many years of history together?

After all, she and Quentin had been married for so long, so did Quentin feel that being with her was no big deal? Or was it because of Matthew?

Sophia smirked, "If you were a man, considering looks and family background, would you choose me or you?"

Lauren bit her lip, took a deep breath, and calmly shot back, "First off, I'm not a man, so I can't make that choice because I don't know how they think. Second, does liking someone need a reason? Whether someone likes you or not isn't about what they say, but what they do for you."

Saying this, Lauren couldn't help but laugh, then made a bold guess and asked Sophia, "Sophia, has Quentin ever promised you anything?"

Sophia immediately felt guilty, replying quickly, "When we were in the hospital, Quentin promised to marry me."

"And what happened?" Lauren quickly seized the opportunity, "If I remember right, Quentin ditched you at the engagement ceremony and came to find me. That's why Noah took the chance to turn against him and take over Robinson Conglomerate."

At this point, Lauren felt something was off.

Why would Noah break off his relationship with Quentin over this? Could it be that Noah liked Sophia?

But Lauren didn't have time to think about these things, as she still had to deal with Sophia.

Sophia stammered, "We argued that day, otherwise, how would you have had the chance to take advantage?"

"Sophia, don't you find it ridiculous? I don't care if you two really argued. You broke your promises and didn't take action, yet you come to question me," Lauren didn't want to argue with Sophia anymore. After all, they weren't Quentin and didn't know his true thoughts. No matter how much they said here, it was useless.

Lauren seemed to remember something and turned to ask Sophia, "By the way, I may not have a family background as good as yours, but I can endure hardships and stick with Quentin through them. Can you?"

"Quentin has nothing now. Are you still willing to stay with him? If you had to choose between Quentin and Noah, who would you pick?" After leaving this question, Lauren quickly walked away, leaving Sophia trembling with anger.

"Lauren, what does it matter to you who I choose? How does it affect you? I just can't stand seeing something I couldn't get being easily taken by someone inferior to me," Sophia muttered to herself with a sullen face.

This was Sophia's true feelings. She was never a woman who couldn't live without someone, especially not Quentin, who never liked her.

If she hadn't risked her life to save Quentin that day, he wouldn't have promised to marry her.

But Quentin was not as wealthy and powerful as he used to be. Robinson Conglomerate was no longer in his hands.

Since that was the case, she had no reason to continue pursuing Quentin.

However, Lauren's words reminded Sophia once again that it was time to pay attention to Noah. It wasn't good to keep rejecting him.
