Chapter 305 The End

Lauren and Ethan both turned to Quentin, trying to figure out what he was getting at.

Brent, feeling all high and mighty, thought whatever Quentin had up his sleeve, he wouldn't be able to slip away. So, he gave Quentin a cold stare and said, "Even if you have a plan, I'm still taking your arm."

Quentin's eyes were sharp, as if he possessed a wisdom that eluded everyone else. He didn't argue; he just kept a faint smile while looking at Brent.

Lauren, standing nearby, was a mess. Brent was the mafia boss, and if he wanted something, he'd stop at nothing. Was Quentin really going to lose an arm? She looked at Quentin, feeling helpless. She wanted to save Ulysses, but she didn't want Quentin to get hurt either.

Brent brought a machete to Quentin's side, looking vicious. "Mr. Robinson, let's settle our old scores with your arm!"

As he finished speaking, he raised the machete, ready to strike Quentin.

Lauren, in a panic, burst into tears. She couldn't care about anything else and immediately threw herself onto Quentin.

"Mr. Reynolds, I thought you were a reasonable person, but it turns out you have no intention of negotiating. To be honest, I already called the police before I came here. No one's arm is leaving here today!" Lauren shouted with all her might, as if speaking loudly was the only way to avoid fear and not back down.

Brent impatiently threw the machete aside, sneering, "You think I'm afraid of the police? How ridiculous!"

Ethan quickly ran over and grabbed Lauren. "Lauren, calm down. Do you want to die? This is their business; it has nothing to do with us!"

Lauren looked at Ethan with cold eyes. He was partly responsible for the current situation. But now, he wanted to back out and leave Quentin to deal with the mess, which made her very disappointed.

Shaking off Ethan's hand angrily, she retorted, "I'm saving my father; it has nothing to do with you!"

"You..." Ethan was stung by Lauren's cold words. Who was he here for today? Who was he risking his life to negotiate with the mafia boss for? Why should he be treated with disdain? As these thoughts raced through his mind, Ethan's expression hardened.

"You're right, it has nothing to do with me! Then you and Quentin can live and die together!" Ethan shouted, turning to leave. The Obsidian Gang members didn't stop him because their target was only Quentin.

Lauren was heartbroken; she was completely disappointed in Ethan this time. As she was struggling with how to resolve the situation, a pair of strong hands patted her shoulder.

Looking up, Lauren saw Quentin's deep eyes. She knew those eyes all too well; for three years, she had dreamed of them many times. How could she forget?

"Quentin, please... be safe," Lauren cried in pain.

But Quentin didn't seem to be in a desperate situation at all. He smiled slightly, winked at Lauren, and gently comforted her. "Don't worry!"

Those simple words had a powerful magic, calming Lauren's previously agitated heart. She nodded slightly, even though she didn't know what Quentin had planned, she still firmly believed in him.

Quentin stood tall, looking down at Brent. "Don't you want your brother Calvin Reynolds to live a normal life?"

Brent was floored by those words. "What are you getting at? Are you threatening me with Calvin?"

"Threaten? Nah, I don't do illegal stuff. But if Calvin Reynolds, who's been into drugs and hurt people, wants a normal life, he needs my help," Quentin said confidently.

Brent's smug look vanished. Quentin was playing it smart. He knew Calvin was Brent's soft spot. Brent's only wish was for Calvin to avoid a life of crime like his. But Calvin was trouble; he'd caused Brent a lot of headaches and messed up his own life.

"What do you mean?" Brent asked coldly.

Quentin smirked, "You know exactly what I mean."

Brent raised his hand, signaling his bodyguards to back off, then sat down. After hearing Quentin's few words, he seemed less aggressive.

Lauren didn't get the whole deal between Quentin and Brent, but she sensed a turning point. She clenched her fists, silently rooting for Quentin. She didn't ask for much, just that Quentin could leave safely today.

As for Ulysses, she had a plan. Whether he liked it or not, she could send him abroad to save his life.

At this moment, Brent knew he had lost his leverage with Quentin. He originally wanted to cut off Quentin's arm just to vent his anger. But compared to his brother, it was nothing.

"Alright, let's cut the crap. If you help clear Calvin's criminal record, I won't go after Ulysses," Brent said coldly.

Quentin's smile grew wider. He mocked, "Good, it's always quick to deal with straightforward people! What's the point of all this roundabout talk?"

Brent's face darkened. Honestly, this deal was a win for him. Quentin's arm in exchange for his brother's clean slate was worth it!

Lauren didn't know the details of how it all got resolved; she was just pulled out of the Obsidian Gang by Quentin.

Outside, Lauren felt a bit awkward. "Thank you," she said.

Quentin didn't even look at her. He just gave a faint "hmm" and said nothing more.

Lauren and Quentin walked side by side, their shadows blending in the sunset, like lovers sharing secrets, or a deeply connected couple.

Lauren walked, staring at the shadows in a daze. Before she knew it, they arrived at Quentin's car.

"Get in, I'll give you a ride," Quentin finally offered after a long internal struggle, looking at the silent Lauren.

Lauren was startled by his sudden words. "No need. I've already put you out enough today, I can manage."

Before Lauren could finish, Quentin gently but firmly pushed her into the passenger seat. She struggled, trying to get up, but then she saw a cut on Quentin's arm.

She remembered it was from when Brent had tried to cut him earlier. Her heart ached at that moment. Quentin, who had nothing to do with her anymore, had helped her in her most difficult time. How could she repay this kindness?
