Chapter 430 Treatment Changes

Odette pulled a few more gift boxes from her bag and handed them out to the staff, pretending to be kind as she said, "Thanks, everyone, for all your hard work today. It's been a long day, so go ahead and get some rest."

As she spoke, she distributed the gifts, and the staff eagerly gathered around, their eyes lighting up at the sight of the expensive items.

This was exactly the reaction Odette had hoped for.

By accepting her gifts, the staff would feel obliged to help her out in the future.

"Alright, it's getting late," she said, feeling increasingly annoyed by the crowd pressing in on her, the smell of sweat making her feel nauseous.

"You, come with me," Odette commanded, pointing to an older woman in the group.

This woman, Violette, had been the ringleader in badmouthing Odette earlier.

Violette's heart skipped a beat.

She had said so many bad things about Odette today; surely, Odette was going to fire her.

Nervously, Violette followed Odette to the side, but it wasn't as terrifying as she had imagined.

Odette looked at Violette with a kind smile, taking her hand and saying, "Just like you said, I'm an orphan with no family. Quentin is my only support. Now that I'm about to become part of the Robinson family, I'll need your help."

"I know you're older, so this is a little token of my appreciation."

As she spoke, Odette pulled out a delicate little box from her pocket.

Inside was a beautifully crafted pendant made of gold.

"This is a piece of jewelry I've always liked. I brought it back from Weitela. It's for you," Odette said with a charming smile.

"How can I accept such a gift?" Violette said, though her hands quickly took the box without hesitation.

'Now things will be easier,' Odette thought, smiling meaningfully. "Violette, I trust you the most. Today was supposed to be a good day, but it gave me such a headache. Those troublesome people need to be dealt with."

Odette's meaning was clear: she wanted Violette to handle Lauren.

Violette, being smart, looked at Odette and whispered, "You want me to take care of the one upstairs?"

"I didn't say to take care of her," Odette replied, feigning surprise and quickly distancing herself from the suggestion. "You know what needs to be done. I see you're a sensible person who knows how to act."

With that, Odette left without looking back.

As soon as she stepped into the hallway, she saw Felix waiting for her in the living room.

Seeing Felix, Odette felt a wave of disappointment. With Felix here, Quentin definitely wouldn't be coming.

With a sullen face, she reluctantly asked, "Felix, why didn't Quentin come?"

"Mr. Robinson instructed me to take you home," Felix replied sternly, his face expressionless.

"I'll stay here tonight. I have to come back tomorrow anyway," Odette said, unwilling to leave.

Felix, however, looked at her seriously and said, "Ms. Foster, please don't make things difficult for me. I'm just following orders."

Odette pouted, glaring at the rigid Felix.

She thought to herself that once she married Quentin, she would make sure he spent less time with Felix.

Unwilling to give up, Odette called Quentin, and after confirming several times, she left reluctantly.

The house, which had been noisy during the day, became quiet at night.

Lauren sat on her bed, her stomach growling. She had given her bowl of porridge to Theodosia earlier and hadn't eaten much herself.

She checked the time. It should be dinner time, but no one had brought her any food.

Usually, the staff would have arranged her meals. What was going on today?

Lauren was puzzled but didn't think much of it.

She figured the staff were preoccupied with Quentin and Odette's wedding photoshoot and had forgotten about her.

She decided to go to the kitchen to find something to eat.

On her way, she unexpectedly ran into Theodosia.

Seeing Theodosia made Lauren feel a strange sense of familiarity, even though it was only their second meeting.

She wanted to greet her, but Theodosia avoided her like the plague, quickly moving away.

Lauren was taken aback. She found some food in the kitchen and went back upstairs to rest, not realizing that the real nightmare would begin the next day.

She found stones in her breakfast.

It was Odette's doing.

Lauren dumped the porridge into the trash and decided to find something else to eat.

Before she could leave, a few staff members blocked her way.

Unlike their usual polite and respectful demeanor, they looked at her with disdain and said coldly, "You should go back and rest. We can't let you wander around without orders."

Lauren narrowed her eyes, studying the staff.

This was the maid who had been taking care of her recently, but her attitude had completely changed.

"Move," Lauren said calmly but firmly.

The maid, though somewhat intimidated, stepped aside, wary of Lauren's status despite her no longer being Quentin's wife.

But Lauren's frustration was far from over.

The kitchen was completely devoid of food, as if they were deliberately preventing her from eating.

Already hungry from the night before, Lauren was now even more famished.

Determined to find a solution, Lauren was pondering her next move when a familiar voice called out, "Here."

It sounded like Theodosia.

Lauren turned to see a shadow disappear, leaving a sandwich on the counter.

Lauren, now at her lowest, had to settle for a sandwich to stave off her hunger.

Once, her captivity had been luxurious; now, she was reduced to eating leftovers.

"Just hang in there," Lauren told herself, but things were worse than she imagined.

There was sand in the water, oil on the floor, jam smeared on her clothes, and marbles scattered on the stairs. The final straw was finding her bed soaked.

After enduring a day of such torment, Lauren had had enough.

"Is anyone there?" she called out, unable to tolerate it any longer.

She had tried to keep her head down, but this was too much.

After a long wait, a staff member finally sauntered over, yawning and looking annoyed. "What is it?"
