Chapter 396 Incident
Lauren was taken home by Noah, while Quentin returned to the hospital alone.
He hadn't figured out how to face Lauren yet, and besides, he needed to deal with Gregory's matter quickly. Having Lauren around would only distract him.
After receiving the message that Noah had safely taken Lauren home, he began to seriously think about Gregory's situation.
If it were anyone else, he would have wanted to torture them beyond recognition, but Gregory was his biological brother.
To say he had no feelings at all would be a lie. After all, he and Gregory were related by blood. Since Quentin knew, he couldn't ignore Gregory's identity.
Although he was excessively rational, he wasn't the type to completely destroy his own brother.
However, he couldn't just let Gregory off the hook either. Not to mention whether Gregory had a sexual relationship with Lauren, just the fact that Gregory had once deceived Robinson Conglomerate was enough to make him furious.
Quentin decided to have Gregory exchange the Cloud Group.
As for Lauren's matter, it could be discussed later.
With this in mind, Quentin went to the police station and saw Gregory, who was handcuffed and looked haggard.
"What, Mr. Robinson, are you so free that you came to see me make a fool of myself? Are you here to beg me to return Robinson Conglomerate? You really have some nerve." Gregory snorted disdainfully. He absolutely hated Quentin.
If Quentin hadn't suddenly barged in with the police, his plan would have succeeded.
Now, not only had he lost Lauren, but he was also locked up in this hellhole.
Quentin ignored Gregory's sarcastic remarks and got straight to the point. "Give me Robinson Conglomerate, and throw in your Cloud Group. In exchange, I'll restore your status as a member of the Robinson family."
"A member of the Robinson family?" Gregory laughed loudly and harshly. "Quentin, what makes you think I care about that status? You should know, I didn't become the president of the Cloud Group because of any blood relation."
Gregory's words were laced with sarcasm, mocking Quentin for inheriting Robinson Conglomerate solely because of his status.
Quentin didn't get angry. Since he had come, he was fully prepared, including for the possibility of being provoked.
"Two groups, and I'll get you out." Quentin said, "The Cloud Group will become a subsidiary of Robinson Conglomerate, and you'll still be the president of the Cloud Group."
Quentin's words seemed to move Gregory. His eyes flickered with uncertainty as he hesitated.
"And I'll get the best medical team to treat you." Quentin played his trump card.
He knew Gregory had been in poor health since childhood; otherwise, he wouldn't have been so easily abandoned. Gregory's childhood illness had left lasting effects on his body.
With the best medical team, Gregory's condition could improve.
With these conditions laid out, Gregory's internal balance tipped completely in Quentin's favor.
No one would refuse a request that was all benefits and no harm.
"It looks like you agree." Quentin sighed in relief.
After completing the paperwork that day, Gregory was released on bail.
"Quentin, why are you doing this?" Gregory asked, feeling somewhat better now that he was no longer restrained.
"You're my brother," Quentin said honestly. If it weren't for this blood relation, Quentin wouldn't have cared who Gregory was. He would have taken him to court, just like Wendy, and had Gregory sentenced to years in prison.
"You're so pragmatic." Gregory stretched lazily, "I won't call you brother."
"I wasn't expecting you to." Quentin pushed his wheelchair forward, not seeing the change in Gregory's smile behind him.
The next day, news of Quentin's return to Robinson Conglomerate spread throughout City A. The media companies that had once added insult to injury during Quentin's difficult times couldn't stay calm.
They all knew Quentin was vengeful, whether lightly or heavily.
They feared Quentin's retaliation, and Quentin took advantage of this by gathering all the media reporters in City A at a hotel under Robinson Conglomerate's name for a press conference.
The main focus of the press conference was Gregory.
Quentin intended to let all of City A know that Gregory was his brother and that they had reconciled.
Unfortunately, Gregory didn't see it that way. So when he stood in front of all the cameras, he said, "I am Gregory, the former president of the Cloud Group. As you all know, the Cloud Group now belongs to Robinson Conglomerate, but I want to tell you that Quentin is actually a complete fraud."
Hearing this, the audience was in an uproar, and Quentin's face gradually darkened.
Gregory continued, "Quentin is a hypocrite! He pretends to be devoted, saying he's willing to give up Robinson Conglomerate for Lauren, but behind the scenes, he's been fooling around with his former lover, trying to get his lover to help him steal both Robinson Conglomerate and the Cloud Group, and then run off somewhere else!"
Gregory's performance was so vivid that Quentin thought the world owed Gregory an award for best actor.
"Gregory, do you have anything more ridiculous to say?" Quentin clapped slowly as he walked forward, his eyes sharp like eagle talons, capable of piercing through someone.
"What, Mr. Robinson, you dare to do it but not admit it?" Gregory retorted with a smile. He wasn't worried at all that Quentin had any evidence to refute his words. Even if his words were disproven, the reporters would still know about it, and it wouldn't be long before Robinson Conglomerate's stock prices plummeted.
Achieving at least that much was enough.
"I don't need to admit to something I didn't do," Quentin said. He shouldn't have been soft-hearted. "But Mr. Walker, I heard you were a suspect in a kidnapping case a few days ago. Is that true?"
The reporters below were in an uproar again.
The press conference was being broadcast live, so Lauren, who was at the Robinson Family Villa, saw it too.
Her heart grew colder with Gregory's words, and she didn't even pay attention to what Quentin said.
After all, Quentin would only make excuses, just as Gregory said, he dared to do it but not admit it.
A relieved smile appeared on her lips.
It turned out that when you were heartbroken to the core, there were no tears. She didn't know how much her heart hurt because she had become numb.
She felt utterly ridiculous. She had still harbored a tiny bit of hope for Quentin, but now she realized how foolish she had been.
Originally, she had felt justified in facing Odette because of her status as Quentin's wife, but now she didn't know if she still had that right.
Since Quentin didn't love her and only saw her as a tool, why did he make her feel happy? Why did he make her have such ridiculous fantasies?
Was it just because she would be easier to use once she developed feelings? Or was it that he took pleasure in toying with her emotions?
