Chapter 359 Slightly Eased

After Odette and Declan left the company, they saw Lauren and Quentin arguing by the roadside.

Lauren hailed a taxi and was about to get in when Quentin pulled her back.

"Let go of me!" Lauren was clearly angry, struggling desperately, not wanting Quentin to touch her.

"Where do you think you're going?" Quentin asked coldly.

Lauren, who was usually so obedient, was acting out tonight, and Quentin was very displeased.

"Why do you care where I'm going?" Lauren tried to shake off Quentin's hand, but his grip was too strong, and she couldn't break free.

"Anywhere but with you," Lauren said harshly.

Quentin had just been affectionate with Odette in front of her, and now he was coming to find her. What did he take her for?

Lauren wanted him to know that she could live just fine without him.

"Do you really mean that?" Quentin knew Lauren was angry and jealous. He wanted to comfort her, but the words came out wrong.

Hearing Quentin's question, Lauren suddenly lost her confidence and said nothing.

"What exactly are you angry about?" Quentin added.

Lauren, who was about to soften, felt her anger reignite at Quentin's question.

So he thought she was being unreasonable? Her reason for being angry was so obvious, what was he asking?

"Quentin," Lauren mimicked Odette's tone, "come find me when you've figured it out."

"No," Quentin was also getting impatient, "you need to explain yourself right now."

"Are you two getting in or not?" The taxi driver, delayed by Lauren and Quentin, was getting irritable.

"No," Quentin said, glaring at the driver and slamming the car door shut.

The driver, frustrated and intimidated by Quentin, drove off without saying anything.

"Come with me," Quentin said, trying to pull Lauren along.

"I'm not going!" Lauren said.

Knowing she couldn't win against Quentin, Lauren simply sat down on the ground.

Seeing Lauren resist like this, Quentin said nothing and picked her up.

"You're coming with me whether you like it or not." Without waiting for her response, Quentin threw Lauren into his car.

Sitting in the back seat, Lauren felt a wave of frustration.

Quentin didn't understand her feelings, wouldn't let her be angry, and wouldn't let her leave. There was probably no one more domineering than Quentin in this world.

They fell into silence. Quentin drove to the lakeside and stopped.

"What's wrong with you?" Quentin turned to Lauren, "You never used to be like this."

"I want to ask myself the same thing," Lauren's eyes began to well up, "Why did I waste my life on you? I'm so angry. I want to not care about Odette, but I just can't. Quentin, I'm your wife. Could you please consider my feelings before getting close to someone else? All my employees were there today. How am I supposed to face them tomorrow?"

Quentin realized he had indeed been inconsiderate but didn't know what to say.

"If you really like Odette, I can step aside for you two." As soon as she said it, Lauren regretted it.

No, if it were anyone else, Lauren might consider it. But if it were Odette, Lauren really didn't want to lose to her.

"Do you really mean that?" Quentin's eyes showed a hint of sadness.

He hadn't expected Lauren to let go of him so easily in their relationship.

"No, I was just speaking out of anger. Don't believe it," Lauren tightly hugged Quentin from behind, "I care about you so much, that's why I'm so angry. Can you please not be so close to other women in the future and consider me a bit more?"

"Okay," Quentin agreed without hesitation, "I'll find a suitable time to talk to Odette. Something like today will never happen again."

"Alright, it's a deal then." Hearing Quentin's promise, Lauren finally felt at ease. "Let's go home."

Quentin didn't say anything, just unbuckled his seatbelt and moved to sit next to Lauren.

"What's wrong?" Lauren was a bit puzzled.

It wasn't until Quentin's hand slipped under her shirt and he kissed her passionately that Lauren understood his intentions.

But at that moment, Lauren wasn't in the mood. She turned her head slightly to avoid Quentin. "I'm tired. I want to go home and sleep."

After all the emotional turmoil, Lauren had no desire to be intimate with Quentin.

For the first time being treated this way by Lauren, Quentin felt a bit defeated, which only made him more determined to conquer her.

"No." Quentin refused directly, pushing Lauren down onto the seat.

'Why should I treat Quentin this way because of Odette? It's not good for either of us.' Thinking this, Lauren stopped resisting and responded passionately.

Although Quentin had promised her, Lauren couldn't help but feel uneasy. He was too indulgent and affectionate towards Odette. Even if he wanted to keep his distance, would Odette agree? And would Quentin refuse her?

Watching Odette and Declan leave, neither of them spoke.

Declan noticed the sadness in Odette's eyes and took off his jacket to drape it over her. "It's late. Be careful not to catch a cold. Let's go home."

"Okay," Odette nodded gently.

Declan hailed a taxi, and they both got in.

Learning Odette's address by chance was quite a gain for Declan.

"Thank you, Declan, but I already have someone I like," Odette said, preemptively thanking him to avoid any conversation.

Without waiting for Declan's response, Odette quickly left.

"Even if I know this, I won't give up on you," Declan silently vowed, watching Odette's departing figure.
