Chapter 379 Brothers

"Lauren, you should take the car back by yourself," Quentin said, hanging up the phone and turning to Lauren. "I have some matters to attend to right now."

Quentin didn't tell Lauren what it was; he needed to confirm it himself first.

Sensing that something must have happened, Lauren nodded in understanding.

"Okay, be careful on your own," Lauren said, not asking further questions as she got out of the car.

Lauren knew Quentin well enough to understand that if he wanted to tell her, he would. Since he didn't, there was no point in pressing him.

Watching Quentin's car gradually disappear from her sight, Lauren still felt a bit worried.

For some reason, Lauren's right eyelid had been twitching all day, making her fear that something bad might happen.

After parting ways with Lauren, Quentin quickly drove to the entrance of the Cloud Group and found Gregory once again.

"What's up?" Gregory chuckled as he saw Quentin return. "Here for coffee this time? Or have you changed your mind about Lauren and decided to go with the Robinson Conglomerate instead?"

"Who exactly are you?" Quentin asked directly, not beating around the bush or letting Gregory sidetrack him.

Gregory remained silent for a long time after hearing Quentin's question.

"So, you know everything now," Gregory's smile gradually faded, replaced by a serious expression. "You figured it out pretty quickly."

"Answer my question first," Quentin insisted, needing to hear the answer directly.

Seeing Quentin's persistence, Gregory found it somewhat amusing. "I was abandoned by you all, so what? Now that you know, what difference does it make?"

It was a past Gregory didn't want to bring up and couldn't believe. If a child had to be abandoned, why did it have to be him?

"So, this is your revenge?" Quentin asked, understanding Gregory's motives now that he had revealed his identity.

"Revenge? Not quite," Gregory said, adjusting his sleeve. "I'm just doing what I want to do. Besides, the Robinson family owes me, don't you?"

Quentin couldn't deny that.

Quentin suddenly realized why his parents worked so hard; they wanted to make up for what they couldn't give Gregory by giving it to him.

"Actually..." Quentin began to soften.

"Don't bother defending them," Gregory interrupted. "I know how I've lived all these years. I don't care about you all."

"Leave. You've got your answer," Gregory said, turning his chair away, not wanting to see Quentin anymore.

Seeing Gregory's unwillingness to say more, Quentin realized he had the truth and had no reason to stay.

Without saying much, Quentin walked out in a daze.

Sitting in his car, Quentin's mind kept replaying what Vincent and Gregory had said to him.

Lost in thought, Quentin didn't realize he had run a red light until he heard the blaring of car horns.

Seeing that he was about to hit a child on the sidewalk, Quentin quickly turned the steering wheel, heading down another road, only to be met by an oncoming truck.

Quentin's vision blurred as he felt people surrounding him and being loaded into an ambulance.

After that, he couldn't hear a word anyone said.

While handling various post-transfer formalities at the company, Lauren received a call from an unknown number.

"Hello?" Lauren answered, puzzled about who could be calling her.

"Hello," a woman's voice said on the other end. "Are you a relative of Quentin?"

"Yes," Lauren replied, fear creeping in.

The nurse said, "Quentin was in a car accident and is now at Serenity Hospital. Please come as soon as possible."

Before the nurse could finish, Lauren rushed out.

'Quentin, please be okay,' Lauren prayed repeatedly in the taxi, tears streaming down her face.

Finally arriving at the hospital, Lauren quickly found the operating room after asking a nurse.

Seeing the red light on, Lauren knew Quentin was still in critical condition.

Lauren crouched on the floor, crying helplessly, terrified that Quentin might leave her.

She didn't know how long she had been crying when the operating room light finally went out.

Seeing Quentin being wheeled out, Lauren hurried over.

"Quentin," Lauren tried to hold his hand but was stopped by a nurse.

"Don't worry, Mr. Robinson is out of immediate danger," the doctor reassured Lauren.

"But Mr. Robinson needs to rest quietly now, no loud noises," the doctor added, finally feeling relieved. "You can see him now."

Sitting by Quentin's bedside, Lauren kept replaying the doctor's words in her mind. "Mr. Robinson suffered a severe head injury. Whether he wakes up depends on his luck. Be prepared for the worst."

"Quentin, I'll wait for you," Lauren said, gently holding Quentin's hand and kissing it tenderly.

"Don't forget, you still have me and Matthew. You can't leave us, or I'll hate you," Lauren said, trying to sound angry, but tears kept falling onto the bedsheet.

Hearing that talking to patients might wake them up, Lauren began recounting their past to Quentin.

From meeting on a bike to saving Jessica, and then somehow becoming his wife, it all felt like a dream now.

Only now did Lauren realize how much they had been through.

Thinking about it made Lauren even sadder. "Quentin, we've been through so much. I believe we can get through this too. No matter the outcome, I'll always be with you."

Not knowing how long she had been talking, Lauren eventually fell asleep by Quentin's bedside.
