Chapter 389 The Banquet of Conspiracy

Lauren didn't know that Odette, whom she thought was being pampered by Quentin, was actually sitting in a police station.

Even if she was the nation's top designer, getting involved with the police would inevitably ruin her reputation, let alone Odette, who hadn't even had the chance to become famous and had offended Lauren.

Offending Lauren was equivalent to offending Quentin.

This was something most people in City A knew.

Quentin sensed something was off with Lauren, thinking it was because he had refused her help earlier, making her unhappy.

Quentin wanted to explain but felt there was nothing to explain.

He was telling the truth.

Meanwhile, Noah was diligently comforting Lauren, making Quentin momentarily wonder if Lauren was his wife or Noah's.

"Lauren, give Quentin his phone back. It's a special time right now." After comforting her, Noah didn't forget to address the main issue.

After all, they were facing the biggest crisis in Robinson Conglomerate's history.

If Quentin couldn't get the news first and control the situation, Robinson Conglomerate might fall.

Lauren knew the situation was special, but Quentin was still injured and shouldn't be handling his phone. Every time she visited Quentin, she left the phone at the door.

She glanced at Quentin, seemingly seeking his opinion.

"Give it to me," Quentin said.

"I'll go get it." Lauren said and left.

"Lauren is really considerate," Noah sighed, seemingly trying to lighten the mood, even though there was no one else there besides him and Quentin.

"Focus on your job." Quentin said coldly, and Noah laughed it off without saying more.

It turned out Gregory was not a simple person. As soon as Quentin left, Gregory notified all the media reporters. "Tomorrow morning, there will be a press conference at the entrance of Robinson Conglomerate."

For the reporters, this was a lavish feast.

No one would refuse Gregory's invitation now.

In the evening, Quentin received the same notification. Surprisingly, he didn't consult Noah but Lauren. "What do you think?"

"What?" Lauren couldn't believe her ears. Was Quentin consulting her? But why?

Lauren hadn't forgotten that Quentin had heartlessly refused her help during the day.

'Not even twenty-four hours have passed, and Quentin has changed?' Lauren thought, feeling conflicted. She was sad about what happened during the day but happy about Quentin's recognition.

Lauren told herself not to act like a girl, but she couldn't help it.

"I asked you, what do you think?" Quentin repeated.

Quentin didn't know Lauren's inner thoughts, but he could see her mood changing.

Lauren didn't just focus on her emotions. After all, Quentin was her priority. After thinking for a while, she answered. "I think since the crisis between Robinson Conglomerate and the Cloud Group has passed, Gregory shouldn't cause too much trouble for now, unless he wants to give Robinson Conglomerate back to you."

At this, Lauren laughed at herself and said, "That's obviously impossible."

Only a fool would hand over Robinson Conglomerate.

"So you think I should go?" Quentin summarized in his mind and then asked.

"The only concern is, could this be a trap set specifically for you?" Lauren voiced her worry.

The notification Quentin received was clearly from Gregory, possibly even sent by Gregory himself. Both Quentin and Lauren knew Gregory wasn't the type to invite someone he disliked to his press conference on a whim.

"Indeed." What Lauren said was exactly what Quentin was worried about.

"So I think you shouldn't go," Lauren said, only hoping for Quentin's safety.

The next day, Quentin still went. Because he wanted to see what tricks Gregory had up his sleeve.

Marble steps stretched from the horizon to the end, packed with reporters. No one wanted to miss any potential big news.

Quentin disguised himself simply and had Noah push him to the back of the crowd.

They were just there to watch, not to disrupt the event, although they might have to disrupt it eventually. It was better to stay low-key at the beginning.

Gregory was the center of attention, wearing his signature glasses. He spotted Quentin and Noah immediately.

"As everyone knows, I am the current president of Robinson Conglomerate, but the Cloud Group also needs my management. I really can't be in two places at once." Gregory said, his gaze fixed on Quentin the entire time, as if telling Quentin, "How do you like the trap I've set for you?"

Quentin sneered, thinking, 'I wasn't planning to cause trouble, but it looks like I can't leave quietly.'

The crowd buzzed with chatter, but no one dared to step forward and ask questions. After all, Gregory was a powerful figure in City A.

Quentin bribed a reporter at the back to loudly ask, "Mr. Walker, are you admitting that you're not capable enough?"

"I never said that." Gregory's cold gaze swept over the poor reporter. Just when everyone thought he was angry, he smiled and added, "But you're not wrong."

"So are you looking for a proxy?" The reporter was scared.

"Yes." Gregory smiled again, his smile looking sunny but sending chills down people's spines.

With someone leading the way, the reporters began asking their own questions.

"So who is the proxy you're looking for?"

"There's a rumor that you obtained Robinson Conglomerate through improper means. What do you think about that?"

"Some say you have a personal grudge against the former president of Robinson Conglomerate. Is that true? Is it because of Mrs. Robinson?"

"You have a lot of questions." Gregory squinted, his gaze becoming even colder through his glasses.

"First, I have no personal grudge against Quentin, but I am indeed interested in Mrs. Robinson," Gregory said bluntly.

He wasn't afraid of these reporters writing nonsense because he had already talked to their companies last night, just as Lauren had feared.

This was a feast prepared specifically for Quentin.
