Chapter 405 Drugging

"What did you just say?" Quentin was a bit thrown off, but one thing was clear: both he and Lauren had been duped, just like she said.

They'd been played for fools.

But a maid with no beef against either of them had no reason to pull this stunt, so someone else had to be pulling the strings.

Was it Odette or Gregory?

Quentin wasn't sure.

"I never told anyone to say that stuff to you," Quentin said firmly.

His conviction made Lauren's heart waver a bit.

Could she trust Quentin?"I'll find out who's behind this and get to the bottom of it," Quentin said. "But you need to work with me."

Quentin's tone left no room for argument, and his demeanor made Lauren's heart race.

"What do you want me to do?"

Lauren decided to trust Quentin one last time. This was the final chance.

If Quentin disappointed her again, she'd rather die than stay with the Robinson family.

At Gregory's private villa.

"Gregory, are you going to let Lauren stay with Quentin?" Odette asked as she applied nail polish.

"What else can I do?" Gregory shrugged. "I'm not risking my neck for someone like Lauren."

"I thought Lauren was important to you," Odette laughed. She genuinely believed that.

"She is, but only as a pawn," Gregory said, taking a sip of coffee.

His gaze drifted to the room at the end of the hallway where Kimberly and Matthew were currently staying.

"Now that I have a better pawn, if Quentin helps me get rid of Lauren, I might even thank him," Gregory joked, and Odette laughed along.

"How's the task I gave you coming along?" Gregory asked, turning to serious matters.

Odette gave him a reassuring gesture.

Just moments ago, the maid she had bribed told her what had happened and mentioned that Lauren was too angry to speak.

Odette laughed, thinking that the maid had done her job well and that Lauren would back off.

In Odette's mind, she and Quentin were the rightful couple, and Lauren was just an intruder.

She believed Quentin had helped her out of affection, but because she had been away in Weitela for years, Lauren, that foolish and despicable woman, had taken advantage of the situation.

"Don't get too cocky," Gregory kindly reminded her.

He was genuinely concerned because they were in this together. If Odette got caught by Quentin, she would rat him out. So for his safety, Gregory had to look out for Odette.

At least, he couldn't let her get caught by Quentin.

"What does it matter?" Odette opened her Facebook app, and at the top was a message from Quentin.

[Come to the Robinson Family Villa.]

Odette's heart fluttered.

Could it be that Quentin had finally come to his senses and wanted to spend the night with her?

What should she do? She wasn't mentally prepared.

"What, did Quentin ask you to make love? You're smiling so happily," Gregory guessed from Odette's expression.

"Of course not," Odette lied, not wanting Gregory to pry into her thoughts.

Gregory knew what she was thinking but chose not to call her out. They were partners, and he wasn't one to nitpick.

"Come back early," Gregory said politely.

He wished Odette would never return, but he couldn't let her out of his sight. Odette was prone to doing stupid things.

Odette snorted and walked away, swaying her hips.

She brought a bottle of the same drug she had once used on Lauren.

She decided to use it on Quentin.

As long as she and Quentin slept together, Lauren would have nothing left to say.

She would have to leave obediently.

At the Robinson Family Villa, Quentin had been waiting for a long time. He sat on the couch, and the coffee in front of him had already gone cold.

When the maid led Odette in, the room was filled with the scent of her perfume, which made Quentin wrinkle his nose in discomfort.

Odette was wearing and carrying all the new items she had just bought, which had cost her a fortune.

Though it pained her a bit, the thought of the wealth and status she would gain once Quentin accepted her made it all worth it.

"Quentin, I missed you so much," Odette said, sitting next to Quentin, her voice soft and coquettish, but Quentin didn't like it at all.

He was here to question Odette about the maid, not to make love.

Quentin pushed Odette away, but she mistook his resistance for playful teasing.

"Do you like to keep your distance?" Odette teased, rubbing her chest against Quentin's arm.

She had never learned how to seduce a man, but this came naturally to her.

"Odette!" Quentin's frown deepened, and he shouted her name, but it had no effect.

"Quentin, don't you want to be with me? I'm willing, so why are you angry?" Odette pouted.

Was she doing something wrong?

Thinking this, Odette began to lift her skirt.

Quentin felt his patience reaching its limit.

It wasn't that he had any feelings or urges for Odette; she had simply exhausted his patience.

"Sit down!" Quentin said coldly, and Odette was stunned.

How many times had Quentin spoken to her in this tone?

He had never done so before.

It must be that damn Lauren. She must have said something to Quentin.

Odette obediently sat next to Quentin, her gaze fixed on the coffee in front of him.

She had already sprinkled the love potion powder in it. As long as Quentin drank it, he would be hers.

"Quentin, I'm sorry. Here, have some coffee to calm down," Odette said, handing the coffee to Quentin.

Quentin was feeling a bit thirsty, so he took the coffee from Odette and drank it all in one gulp.

"Odette, did you know someone named Angie?" Quentin asked.

Angie was the name of the maid Odette had bribed.

"Angie?" Odette blinked, seemingly not understanding why Quentin was asking this. "Who's Angie?"

Odette wasn't pretending to be clueless; she genuinely didn't know who Angie was.

She had indeed bribed a maid, but she didn't know the maid's name.

And now, Odette wasn't even thinking about that.
