Chapter 358 Newcomer Reception
The next evening, as everyone requested, Lauren hosted a welcome party for Odette. Although Lauren was very reluctant, she couldn't let her personal feelings interfere, lest others accuse her of being unfair.
'When did I become so petty?' Lauren was momentarily surprised, then calmed down. 'Probably because now I'm not his lover, but his wife, and Matthew's mother.'
For the sake of herself and her family, Lauren had to do better for Quentin, especially in terms of emotions.
Before coming, Lauren mentioned this to Quentin, saying everyone was looking forward to his presence. Quentin seemed a bit indifferent, saying he would see how things went.
Seeing Quentin's reaction, Lauren felt somewhat relieved. Quentin had always disliked such occasions, and she didn't want Quentin and Odette to meet too often.
Someone exclaimed, "The star of the evening has arrived."
Amidst the cheers, Odette slowly walked out.
Odette was wearing a light pink long dress today, making her look even more petite.
"You are so beautiful! Odette, do you have a boyfriend?" Some single men couldn't hold back.
"Sort of." Odette's answer reminded Lauren of herself back then. "But I do have someone I like, so you should give up."
After saying this, Odette laughed heartily.
In this regard, Lauren felt inferior; she could never be as open-minded as Odette.
"I won't give up." The speaker was a man from the design department named Declan Scott.
Odette stuck out her tongue at Declan, made a funny face, then turned around and said, "You're here."
Who arrived? Lauren's heart suddenly tightened.
Until she saw Odette walking in arm-in-arm with Quentin, Lauren still found it hard to believe.
"It's Mr. Robinson. Could it be that the person Odette likes is Mr. Robinson?" Declan quickly reacted and asked Odette.
Hearing this, everyone quickly quieted down, waiting for Odette's answer.
"Yes." Odette was unexpectedly straightforward, without any concealment.
Odette wrapped her arms around Quentin's neck and left a light kiss on his lips.
Seeing Quentin and Odette's intimate behavior, the crowd was instantly in an uproar.
Everyone had heard about Quentin's many lovers before, so they weren't too surprised, feeling more sympathy for Lauren. They thought that after Quentin and Lauren remarried, their relationship had improved, but it turned out to be the same as before.
But they were all wrong; Lauren was no longer willing to endure it.
Seeing Quentin not dodging at all, Lauren walked straight up, pulled Odette away, and gave her a loud slap.
Odette obviously didn't expect Lauren to treat her like this; Lauren was different from the rumors.
Her face burned with pain, and tears quickly rolled down.
"Quentin!" Odette, full of grievances, wanted to run into Quentin's arms again, but Lauren grabbed her arm.
"Ms. Foster, please have some self-respect," Lauren said sternly. "As a woman, you're beautiful. Why mess around with my husband? Why be a homewrecker?"
Seeing the tense situation, the onlookers wisely dispersed, leaving only Declan secretly watching from a corner.
"I didn't." Odette cried softly, "Quentin and I are truly in love."
"Lauren." Quentin wanted to say something but was interrupted by Lauren.
"Don't speak." Lauren's voice began to tremble.
Quentin looked at Lauren, seeing her eyes red, trying hard not to cry.
"Lauren, it hurts!" Odette frowned, her wrist red from Lauren's grip.
"Stop it." Quentin shook off Lauren's hand and pulled Odette behind him.
At that moment, Lauren's heart completely broke.
"So Quentin, is Odette more important to you than I am?" Lauren's tears fell as she spoke.
"Why are you asking such a question?" Quentin retorted.
"Why?" Lauren found it utterly ridiculous, "You're asking me?"
"Odette hasn't asked anything of you." Quentin said.
"She asked me to give you to her, isn't that enough?" After saying this, Lauren felt all her strength leave her, almost unable to stand.
Quentin wanted to reach out to support Lauren, but she avoided him.
"In that case, I wish you and Odette a harmonious relationship." Lauren sneered.
"Lauren, you misunderstood." Odette said shakily from behind Quentin.
Seeing her like this, Lauren got even angrier and shouted, "Don't call me Lauren; you don't have the right."
After saying this, Lauren ran out.
Seeing Lauren leave, Quentin turned to Odette and said, "Sorry, you'll have to go back alone later."
After instructing Odette, Quentin quickly followed, calling Lauren's name.
"Quentin." Odette never thought Quentin would leave her for another woman. This was the first time she experienced such a thing.
"Is she really so important to you?" Odette muttered to herself, "No, it can't be. Quentin wouldn't abandon me."
"Do you need a ride home?" Declan asked.
Hearing someone speak to her, Odette turned around to find the man who had just confessed to her.
"Why are you still here?" Odette resumed her sweet smile.
"I'm waiting for you," Declan answered honestly.
"What's your name?" Odette became a bit interested in the man.
"Declan." Declan said.
Odette thought for a moment, walked over to Declan, and took his arm, saying, "Alright then, I'll trouble you tonight."
Faced with such an intimate gesture from Odette, Declan's face instantly turned red.
Declan wanted to pursue her but didn't expect physical contact so soon.
"What? You don't want to?" Odette whispered in Declan's ear.
Feeling Odette's breath on him, Declan's heart began to itch. "No, I'm very pleased."
