Chapter 387 Fusion Crisis

Gregory raised an eyebrow as he looked at Lauren, his expression filled with surprise, seemingly taken aback by Lauren's response.

"Mr. Walker, I hope you don't misunderstand. I'm not the kind of woman whose heart can be bought with money." Lauren's eyes were full of determination. From the first time she met Quentin, she knew that she belonged to him for life. Not even the entire Robinson Conglomerate, let alone ten cities, could make her leave Quentin unless Quentin asked her to go.

Lauren recalled Odette's words, which caused a momentary wavering in her firm resolve.

This wavering was noticed by Gregory through her eyes.

Gregory thought, 'So, Lauren and Quentin's relationship isn't as unbreakable as it seems. It's okay if Lauren doesn't accept now; there's always tomorrow.'

With this thought in mind, Gregory calmly accepted his rejection, stuffed the small box in his hand into Lauren's pocket, and stood up gracefully, saying, "A small gift, I hope you like it. If you change your mind, feel free to find me anytime."

Gregory's tone was light, without a trace of the disappointment or frustration one would expect from someone who had just been rejected.

Without waiting for Lauren to voice her refusal, Gregory turned and left. Of course, before leaving, he glanced at Quentin with a look full of smugness.

"Throw it away," Quentin said coldly. What a joke, when did his wife ever need another man's token of affection?

Lauren initially wanted to obediently follow Quentin's words, but when she thought of Odette throwing herself at Quentin and Quentin not rejecting her, she decided not to comply.

Weren't they husband and wife? Shouldn't they be equals? Why should she always be the one to compromise?

This time, she was determined to go against Quentin.

"No," Lauren replied in the same tone, then added, "He gave it to me. You have no right to make me throw it away, do you?"

Quentin raised an eyebrow, his displeasure magnifying exponentially.

Lauren blinked, seemingly not understanding why Quentin was so upset.

"If you like Gregory so much, why didn't you accept him just now?" Quentin asked, but his tone was so filled with displeasure that it didn't sound like a question at all.

"Do you really want me to accept him?" Lauren regretted asking the moment the words left her mouth. Was she crazy? What if Quentin answered "yes"? What would she do then?

Lauren almost wanted to cover her ears.

"I'm asking you," Quentin originally intended to give a definite answer, but then he saw Lauren's somewhat hurt expression.

Lauren didn't reply, just turned her back to him, secretly wiping away tears.

They fell into silence, and Matthew, sensing the tension, didn't say a word the entire time.

Then, Lauren used the excuse of needing to calm down and didn't visit Quentin for three days.

On the fourth day, Quentin, who was napping, keenly sensed someone approaching. He thought it was Lauren and opened his eyes with joy, only to see Noah's face.

"Are you really so disappointed?" Noah joked, but his expression was unusually serious.

"What's going on?" Quentin sat up. Although disappointed, he knew something serious must have happened to make Noah joke with such a stern face.

Noah didn't answer Quentin's question directly but asked, "When are you planning to come back?"

"Why? Is Gregory getting impatient?" Quentin snorted, clearly displeased with Gregory.

"Sort of," Noah scratched his head. "He says the Robinson Conglomerate is about to go under."

Quentin was momentarily stunned. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, his sharpness had returned. "Noah, get me a wheelchair."

Noah understood, admiring Quentin while also hating his own uselessness for making Quentin, still injured, handle things personally.

Meanwhile, Lauren, at home, received an anonymous email detailing the crisis facing the Robinson Conglomerate.

Lauren's heart sank. She instinctively ran to the hospital, but Quentin had already been taken away by Noah.

She was still too late.

Lauren couldn't help but think, sitting on Quentin's now cold bed, murmuring to herself, "But even if I find Quentin, what can I do?"

In the Robinson Conglomerate's boardroom, Gregory was brainwashing the members to achieve his goal. "The benefits of Robinson Conglomerate becoming part of the Cloud Group far exceed those of remaining separate. Once we become part of the Cloud Group, I will ensure your positions and even increase your year-end bonuses by ten or twenty percent."

Gregory continued, "I believe you are all smart people. Let's start the vote. Those who disagree with the merger, please stand up. I believe I can convince you."

Gregory wore a confident smile, as he had expected, no one in the large boardroom spoke up. "Since no one objects, I announce that Robinson Conglomerate will officially become a subsidiary of the Cloud Group."

"Who gave you the right!" Quentin, sitting in a wheelchair, was pushed into the room by Noah. He was still wearing his hospital gown, looking somewhat comical, but the aura he exuded made everyone tremble.

An emperor was still an emperor, even without his throne and crown; his presence didn't lie.

"I was wondering who it was," Gregory laughed. "The former president of Robinson Conglomerate? What, you dare to cause trouble here before you're even healed? Do you want to be thrown out by security and become a laughingstock?"

Thinking of the scene Gregory described, and with Gregory present, a few people couldn't help but laugh.

"Yeah, Quentin, isn't it time for you to retire?"

"With your terrible temper, it's only a matter of time before Robinson Conglomerate goes under in your hands!"

"Go back, Mr. Robinson. The Cloud Group doesn't welcome you!"

Facing the ridicule, Quentin merely snorted coldly, not even bothering to look at them. His eyes were fixed on Gregory.

"Gregory," Quentin called out his name.

"What? The one who abandoned Robinson Conglomerate without looking back, now wants to take it back?" Gregory sneered.

"Of course not. I'm just here to confirm something you'll be interested in," Quentin said, his eyes full of calculation.
