Chapter 423 Only This
Odette had no clue Quentin was just brushing her off, and honestly, she didn't care.
In City A, almost every girl dreamed of walking down the aisle in a wedding dress designed by Olive.
Odette couldn't believe Quentin agreed to her request.
Did this mean she was one step closer to becoming part of the Robinson family?
In the past, she might have worried about Jessica's disapproval, but even fate seemed to be on her side; Jessica had died while she was abroad!
Even Sophia had married Noah, a guy who would always be Quentin's lackey. Odette would never settle for someone like him!
"Can we go now?" Odette beamed, feeling like the happiest person in the world.
"She needs to rest," Quentin said, glancing at his watch.
He knew Olive had no sense of time and often flipped her schedule. She was probably just getting to sleep.
Odette blinked and said, "It's fine, Quentin. You two are so close; she won't mind!"
Quentin frowned.
He and Olive were good friends, but that didn't mean he could disregard her well-being.
"No way."
Quentin's refusal was reasonable, but Odette was unhappy.
"Why not? Isn't Olive your friend? Friends help each other out, right?"
"I said no." Quentin's tone was now firm.
Odette reluctantly agreed, though she was far from pleased.
Seeing Odette's mood sour, Quentin tried to comfort her. "She'll be up in the afternoon. We can go then."
"Afternoon? She sure can sleep!" Odette grumbled.
Quentin was annoyed but said nothing. He mentally noted every word Odette said, planning to address it all when the time was right.
Quentin remained silent, and Odette didn't dare say more, unsure if he was angry.
Odette was different from Lauren; she loved being pampered by Quentin and basked in the envy of others.
She would never cross what she believed to be Quentin's boundaries.
Odette didn't know what to say, and Quentin didn't feel like talking either.
The silence stretched until it was almost time to leave work.
Quentin closed his laptop and said, "Let's go see Olive."
Odette's eyes lit up, and she jumped up from the couch, nodding excitedly. "Okay!"
When Quentin and Odette arrived, Olive had been awake for a while.
"And who is this?" Olive asked, eyeing Odette.
Odette was cute and had a polite smile, but Olive couldn't shake a strange feeling about her.
"Are you Ms. Garce?" Odette stepped forward and warmly took Olive's hand.
Her voice was sweet, but Olive didn't like her.
"Yeah, that's me. And you are?" Olive wanted to pull her hand back, but didn't want to be rude.
"I'm Odette, Quentin's fiancée!" Odette emphasized her words. "Quentin's fiancée?"
Olive frowned.
She was so absorbed in her work that she didn't keep up with outside events, but she knew Quentin had married Lauren.
She couldn't understand how Quentin had a new fiancée after just a few months.
"Yes," Odette said proudly.
She had always dreamed of the day she could announce to the world that she was Quentin's fiancée.
"Quentin, didn't you just marry Lauren?" Olive asked, oblivious to Odette's feelings.
Odette was displeased.
Why did everyone care about Lauren?
Odette was the one about to marry Quentin, not Lauren!
"Ms. Garce, watch your words! Lauren is ancient history!"
Odette's harsh tone displeased Quentin, who frowned and said, "That's just how she is."
There was a hint of anger in Quentin's voice, barely noticeable.
"It's fine, I don't mind," Olive said, waving it off. As a longtime friend, she could easily detect Quentin's anger.
"So, what brings you here? A custom wedding dress?"
"Of course!"
Odette dropped her polite smile and adopted a haughty demeanor.
She had wanted to make a good impression on Olive, but Olive had annoyed her.
"Please hurry up! Quentin and I need to take our wedding photos! You two are friends, so cutting in line shouldn't be a problem!"
Olive frowned and looked at Quentin.
When had Quentin changed? Since when did he tolerate such a woman? Or had his taste drastically changed?
Quentin said, "No need. First come, first served. Follow the order."
He was much more reasonable than Odette!
"Alright then," Olive said, patting Quentin's shoulder. "I liked Lauren better."
Quentin's eyes darkened. It was a special time.
"Quentin!" Odette pouted.
She was unhappy again.
"Odette, shut up," Quentin said coldly, his icy gaze fixed on her.
No matter the reason, Odette shouldn't be so unreasonable.
Odette's eyes widened.
Quentin had just looked at her like that? She hadn't done anything wrong!
What was wrong with cutting in line among friends?
Quentin was the CEO of Robinson Conglomerate, the top company in City A.
But having money didn't mean being unreasonable.
Unfortunately, Odette didn't understand that.
"It's time. Let's go to the movies," Quentin said, showing no intention of comforting Odette.
His tone was indifferent, as if he were heading to work, not a date.
Quentin's displeasure was evident, so Odette didn't dare act up. She obediently thanked Olive with Quentin and then left.
