Chapter 390 Lauren Is Missing

Quentin let out a disdainful snort.

'What's the big deal if you're interested? Lauren has always been mine, not even Ethan could take her away,' Quentin thought.

Gregory continued, "What kind of improper means? If Quentin doesn't want to give it, can I threaten him?"

Quentin recalled what Gregory had said that day at the Cloud Group; it was the truth.

Noah didn't speak or make any sound. He looked at Gregory, wishing he could drag Gregory down from the entrance of Robinson Conglomerate and let Quentin take his place.

"As for the agent, I've already chosen someone, and you should be quite familiar with this person." Gregory paused, as if he was teasing the audience.

Then, under the expectant eyes of the reporters, Gregory pointed to the disguised Quentin. Holding the microphone, he spoke like a host announcing an award winner. "That person is the former president of Robinson Conglomerate, Mr. Robinson!"

Quentin's face showed none of the joy an "award winner" should have; his expression could even be described as terrifying.

"Gregory, what exactly are you trying to do?" Quentin said almost angrily, his eagle-sharp eyes staring directly at Gregory.

"What? Mr. Robinson doesn't want Robinson Conglomerate back? Noah is really looking forward to your return," Gregory didn't directly answer Quentin's question but instead laughed, a chilling smile.

Noah, who was mentioned, didn't react. He originally didn't dislike Gregory and even admired his ability to get things done, until he learned what Gregory had done.

"I don't like charity," Quentin said coldly. He didn't like it when others brought unrelated third parties into their confrontations.

Brent was one instance, and now it was Gregory's turn.

"You really dare to speak," Gregory's smile faded, replaced by an expression similar to Quentin's. "I'll give you one more chance: trade Lauren for Robinson Conglomerate. How about it?"

"The answer is the same as last time: impossible." Quentin's face darkened further.

Gregory let out a cold laugh, took off his glasses, revealing a face almost identical to Quentin's. "Do you think Lauren will stay by your side forever without Robinson Conglomerate? Wake up, Quentin! This world runs on money! Besides, I have the same face as you. If I want, Lauren will eventually beg me to take care of her!"

"Don't insult Lauren with your disgusting thoughts," Quentin said coldly. "You won't even touch a finger of hers!"

"Really? Then Quentin, do you dare to bet with me?" Gregory suddenly changed his tone.

"No need, I trust Lauren." Quentin said coldly.

Quentin left with Noah pushing him, his dashing back making Gregory grit his teeth in anger.

With Quentin who was the main character gone, the reporters quickly dispersed. After all, no one would stay for a loser.

Gregory punched the wooden podium, his face dark and terrifying. Quentin's words replayed in his mind like a broken record.

Gregory snorted coldly and said harshly, "Trust? There's no such thing as eternal trust between people!"

Today's events were written into news articles by the reporters and posted online, and of course, Lauren found out about it.

She was annoyed that she had allowed Quentin and Noah to get close to the dangerous Gregory, but she also felt sweet about what Quentin had said.

Lauren decided to make a pot of fish soup for Quentin.

The Robinson Conglomerate's press conference was big news today, even the police officers at the station knew about it.

"What? You were just got scolded by Quentin and now you're coming to me? Isn't your motive too obvious?" Odette heard about it from the police, and Gregory came to see her that very night.

Odette hadn't forgotten that it was Gregory who had caused Quentin so much trouble.

"I'm not welcome?" Gregory wasn't angry, wearing his signature smile.

Odette rolled her eyes and quickly waved her hand, saying, "I wouldn't dare not welcome you."

"I'll get you out," Gregory ignored Odette's perfunctory response. He wasn't here to make her uncomfortable. "I have a plan, and I know you'll cooperate."

"I don't like taking orders from others," Odette wanted to refuse; she wouldn't be fooled by Gregory again.

"You have no choice." Gregory said.

Lauren's fish soup simmered all night. The next day, as she boarded the bus with huge dark circles under her eyes, she felt an unfriendly gaze on her.

Lauren unconsciously touched the skin under her eyes, thinking, 'I can't be ugly, can I? Am I really so unwelcome?'

The gaze didn't linger for a long time, and Lauren didn't pay much attention to it. However, for several days in a row, she had the same feeling.

The gaze never stayed on her for more than a minute, making her think it was just due to her lack of rest or simply a passerby's glance.

So she didn't notice the person who had been following her all along.

Quentin, still recovering, could only stay in the hospital. Affected by the news from a few days ago, Lauren brought fish soup every morning, feeding Quentin spoonful by spoonful, which improved his mood.

But today, Lauren didn't come.

A bad feeling crept into Quentin's heart.

'Could something have happened to Lauren?' Quentin couldn't help but think, then shook his head to dismiss the terrible thought.

Odette was already in the police station, and Gregory, being interested in Lauren, shouldn't harm her.

Quentin couldn't think of anyone else who would harm Lauren, so he decided to wait. Maybe Lauren just overslept; after all, she had been in poor spirits from making soup these past few days.

The sun was at its highest point, the hour and minute hands overlapping, and still, Lauren hadn't come.

Quentin finally lost his patience and was about to call Noah when Noah called him first.

"Hello?" Quentin answered, putting the phone to his ear.

Noah didn't speak immediately, taking a few deep breaths before saying. "Lauren is missing."
