Chapter 107 Expelled from City A

Wendy feigned innocence, and Quentin felt a feeling of nausea rises within him.
He regretted tolerating Wendy for so long, merely because she bore a slight resemblance to his first love, never imagining she would harm Lauren.
Noah had never seen Quentin be so ruthless towards a woman. Although Quentin appeared cold and indifferent to everything, he had never been rude with a woman before. That showed just how egregious Wendy's actions must have been.
"Quentin, don't act impulsively," Noah said, stepping between Quentin and Wendy. He turned to Wendy and added, "Things have come to this point. If you still refuse to tell the truth, you'll really anger Quentin, and I can't help you at that point."
Wendy's face turned ashen as she looked at Quentin; he seemed like a demon, ready to strangle her right there and then.
Yet, she continued to argue, believing Quentin was merely trying to scare her. If she admitted to anything, she would have no chance of survival.
"I have nothing to admit, Quentin. I feel deeply misunderstood. If someone is spreading rumors, you can bring them here, and we can confront them face to face," Wendy said.
"Do you think I won't?" Quentin said coldly, glaring at Wendy. "The two from the Dark Hand can testify, but they've already been thrown into the sea to feed the sharks. If you do find them, they'll be delighted to see their employer."
Wendy couldn't hold back any longer; she hadn't expected Quentin to uncover her ties to the Dark Hand.
"I don't know anything about the Dark Hand. Someone must have been framing me!" Wendy's disgusting facade was fully exposed, and even the usually gentle Noah couldn't help but frown.
Noah wasn't stopping Quentin out of a desire to save Wendy but because he didn't want Quentin to stain his hands with blood.
Quentin signaled Noah to step aside. He could no longer tolerate Wendy.
"She paid the Dark Hand to kidnap Lauren. No matter what you say, I won't let her off the hook," Quentin said.
Noah suddenly understood that Quentin's ruthlessness towards Wendy was because of Lauren.
"Quentin, I understand how you feel right now, but you know what kind of person Lauren is. If she finds out you did this for her, how do you think she would feel? How much psychological pressure would she be under? Lauren is still pregnant. I hope you'll consider her feelings," Noah said earnestly. Knowing Lauren, she would never want Quentin to take such actions.
Wendy trembled; she had never seen Quentin so furious. Only now did she realize that Quentin was beyond her control, but it was too late.
Quentin clenched his fists, the veins on his arms bulging, readied for action. However, reasons told him that he couldn't act this way.
"You! Get out of City A now. If I see you causing trouble again, I'll hunt you down to the ends of the earth!" Quentin glared at Wendy with cold eyes, and she nodded frantically in fear.
"I hope that you can keep your word. Take care," Noah said, pulling the still-furious Quentin away.
Lauren's condition was stable. Though she had been frightened, the baby was unaffected.
Ethan has asked Dr. Olivia, a busy obstetrician and gynecologist, to examine Lauren in order to put her mind at ease.
"I'm sorry to trouble you again, Dr. Olivia," Lauren said apologetically.
Dr Olivia smiled and said, "It's no trouble at all. This is what I'm here for. Life is full of surprises; we can't decide our fate but we can appreciate life more. The baby is stronger than you think, so you can rest assured now and not worry too much."
Lauren nodded and quickly thanked her.
"Also, your ultrasound still needs to be finished. It's not too busy today. Would you like to complete it?" Dr. Olivia asked Lauren.
"Really? That would be wonderful!" Lauren accepted with excitement. She thought she had missed the chance to have the 4D ultrasound last time, but now she has another opportunity.
"Get yourself ready and come over soon," Dr. Olivia said with a smile.
After Dr. Olivia left, Lauren hurriedly got out of bed, startling Ethan.
"What are you doing? Lie back down," Ethan said with worry, supporting Lauren, afraid she might hurt herself.
"Ethan, Dr. Olivia said I could finish the 4D ultrasound I didn't complete last time. I'm so lucky!" Lauren said excitedly.
Ethan looked at Lauren with eyes full of love. "Alright, I'll go with you. I want to see what the baby looks like, too."
They quickly made their way to the ultrasound room. After a short wait, it was Lauren's turn.
Lauren and Ethan walked in together. The doctor assumed that Ethan was her husband, so he didn't stop Ethan.
The baby's face appeared on the electronic screen. "Look, these are the baby's eye sockets and they are developing very well. The nose is beautiful too," the doctor said to Lauren with a smile.
Lauren nodded repeatedly, tears of joy streaming down her face. "Yes, it's wonderful."
Ethan, who was standing on the sidelines, was also deeply moved. For the first time, he felt the reality of this new life. If Lauren agreed, he was willing to be the one that she and the baby would rely on in the future.
"It looks like everything is normal with the baby. I'll print out the results for you, and you can take them to your primary doctor," the doctor said.
"Thank you," Lauren said gratefully.
As they left the ultrasound room, Lauren overheard other pregnant women discussing the gender of their babies.
Lauren smiled slightly. She had heard that 4D ultrasounds could reveal the baby's gender, but she had been too excited and nervous to notice.
Besides, whether it was a boy or a girl, it would still be her beloved child, and she didn't have a strong desire to know the gender.
Ethan read Lauren's mind, and said to her, "Whether it's a baby boy or a baby girl, I'll love them just the same."
Lauren looked at Ethan moved, but she didn't catch the meaning behind his words.
Ethan saw Lauren's sparkling eyes and assumed that she was no longer rejecting his love, and was thrilled while planning how to formally propose to her.
"Ethan, do you see that? The baby looks so cute," Lauren said, holding the ultrasound printout that clearly showed the baby's face.
"Yes, just as beautiful as you," Ethan replied.
Lauren laughed. "The baby is still so small. You can't tell if they're beautiful or not. Ethan, be serious."
Ethan smiled indulgently. "In my eyes, everything about the baby is perfect, just like you are."
They joked and laughed as they headed over to the ward, neither of them realizing that there was a pair of sharp eyes behind them staring at them, itching to rush over.
