Chapter 110 Seeking Outside Help

Time seems to come to a stop. Lauren's smile pierced Quentin's eyes while Ethan looked at Lauren with adoration. Lauren and Ethan's eyes met, and Quentin seemed out of place.
Lauren's words overjoyed Ethan.
"Lauren, you will see in the future how right your choice is," Ethan said earnestly.
Exuding a cold aura, Quentin walked towards them step by step, speaking each word with great effort, "Are you sure?"
Lauren nodded. "Mr. Robinson, my choice for my happiness should have nothing to do with you. Ethan loves me, cherishes me, and understands me. Please, Mr. Robinson, do not trouble him in the future."
"Very well!" Quentin laughed, enduring the extreme pain in his heart. After the divorce, Lauren had become bolder and she had turned into a cat that could bite.
Initially, Quentin chose to divorce to let Lauren live freely and happily. Now, it seemed that Lauren had found her happiness, but he was unwilling to accept it, contradicting his intention.
Yes, love was indeed selfish. At this moment, Quentin realized that letting her and Ethan be together was a lie that he told himself. When she truly became Ethan's lover, Quentin felt immense pain.
But now, seeing Lauren and Ethan holding hands so intimately made Quentin furious.
He suppressed his anger and did not speak, knowing that anything he said at this moment would not be kind.
Lauren was frustrated with her wavering resolve and principles. Seeing Quentin again brought her more joy than sorrow. She knew they couldn't return to the past and was determined to end the current situation, so she used Ethan.
She grabbed Ethan's arm, forcing a stiff smile. Fortunately, Ethan noticed her discomfort and supported her until they were out of sight.
The audience lingered, puzzled by what had transpired, only envying Lauren for having two such exceptional men vying for her attention.
Quentin stood there for a long time, slowly regaining his composure. He realized he couldn't easily let go of his feelings for Lauren. Perhaps he had deceived himself before, but now he understood his own heart. He had to win Lauren back!
Lauren's face was very pale as Ethan held her hand and led her to the hospital room. As soon as they entered, Lauren awkwardly pulled her hand away.
"Ethan, I..." Lauren spoke with hesitation.
You don't have to say it, I know. But Lauren, can't you really give me a chance? My feelings for you are genuine, Ethan said with sorrow.
Lauren had agreed to his proposal earlier, which made him very happy at first. But when he saw the look in Lauren's eyes when she looked at Quentin—reluctance, defiance, sadness—Ethan understood everything.
It turned out that he had once again become a shield, but he was willing to do so this time if it meant that Quentin would completely leave Lauren's life. By letting Quentin out of her sight, Ethan's still got a chance in the future.
Lauren looked at Ethan apologetically. "Ethan, thank you. But I have always seen you as a friend, and right now, I am really not in a position to consider a relationship. I don't want anything now; I just want to safely give birth to my child and live my own life. Can you understand me?"
Lauren asked cautiously, afraid that she might lose Ethan, her precious friend, with a single misstep.
Ethan felt heartbroken seeing Lauren like this. He knew Lauren better than anyone else and understood that what she wanted most at this moment was not a new love but a stable life.
However, Ethan loved Lauren too much, and this deep-rooted love had been hidden in his heart for years. He was eager to occupy a place in Lauren's heart, neglecting her feelings.
"Lauren, I'm sorry. I didn't think it through. Can we pretend that nothing happened today? I'll be there for you through the birth of the child. I won't do anything to make you uncomfortable until you recover. I hope today won't distance us. If we can't be lovers, we can still be good friends, just like before," Ethan spoke sincerely, believing that genuine feelings could move even the hardest of hearts. As long as he stayed by Lauren's side, he believed that one day, her heart would beat for him.
Since Ethan had said so, Lauren couldn't say anything more. Ethan was the best part of her otherwise troubled life. Even if Ethan didn't mind, she wouldn't give up their friendship.
"Ethan, thank you so much for being so understanding and considerate. If even you ignore me, I might become the most pitiful pregnant woman in the world," Lauren said emotionally, wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes.
"Silly girl, how could I ever ignore you? Alright, let's consider today's events as a little performance. Though it may not have been perfect, it certainly garnered quite a bit of attention. This might be the first stage play in the history of this hospital!" Ethan spoke lightly about the recent events, but his words only deepened Lauren's sense of guilt.
"I'm sorry, Ethan. For the debt I owe you in this life, perhaps I can only repay in the next..." Lauren looked deeply into Ethan's eyes, making a wish in her heart.
Quentin, having realized his true feelings, decided to seek help. Grandma Robinson had helped Lauren marry him in the first place, so now she had to see it through to the end.
"Grandma, I'm back. Do you have some time? I want to talk to you," Quentin said.
Quentin rarely returned to the Robinson family's ancestral home.
Grandma Robinson was unaware of their divorce, so she looked behind Quentin for Lauren.
"Where's Lauren? Is she not coming back with you?" Grandma Robinson ignore Quentin's words as she was expecting Lauren.
Quentin pulled Grandma Robinson into the study, ready to have a thorough and honest conversation with her.
"What? You two got divorced? When did this happen? And she's still carrying your child! How could you do this!" As expected, Grandma Robinson couldn't stay calm upon hearing the news and she hit Quentin's back with her cane with strength.
This scoundrel had done such a thing behind her back, leaving Lauren in such despair!
Quentin also regretted it. He realized that agreeing to the divorce had been too hasty. He thought he was doing what was best for Lauren, but he had only hurt her.
"Grandma, a lot has happened recently. Please listen to me. I hope you can help me persuade Lauren because she has agreed to be Ethan's girlfriend." Facing Grandma Robinson's scolding, Quentin didn't evade it. This was the punishment he deserved.
Grandma Robinson was furious. She poked Quentin's forehead hard. "Are you out of your mind? You don't cherish a good girl like Lauren. Now that someone else wants her, you realize how good she is. Let me tell you, I won't help you. You can continue playing around and fooling with those women! I can't control you, and I won't try."
With a cold expression, Grandma Robinson turned to leave. This was a lesson for Quentin. If he didn't learn from Lauren leaving, his arrogant nature would prevent him from truly valuing someone who genuinely cared for him like Lauren did.
