Chapter 162 The Plan Was Perfect

Lauren paused but quickly resumed patting Matthew.

"I don't care what you say. And don't bring up Quentin again," she said.

"Lauren, we made a bet," Ethan cut in. "We both agreed to chase you at the same time. If you pick him, I'll disappear from your life. But you'll lose Quentin completely. Are you really going to ignore this?" he asked.

Ethan looked at her, waiting for an answer.

Lauren was annoyed. She angrily retorted, "This is childish. If you love betting so much, go to a casino. Don't use me as an excuse. I don't care."

"Would you pick me?" Ethan asked, desperate for her response.

Lauren was at a loss. Seeing Ethan's serious face, her heart was in turmoil. This bet was a challenge. How would she choose?

"I won't choose anyone. I'll live a good life with Matthew," she said firmly, even angrier about the bet.

Ethan looked at her sadly. Had she not forgotten Quentin? Had he failed to win her over?

He smiled weakly. One day, he would win her heart.

"Don't be mad. I was joking. Quentin and I wouldn't act this childish. Quentin is over. Think about your future. Maybe include me," Ethan said, realizing Lauren still loved Quentin.

Lauren eyed him suspiciously. She asked, "So, what's the bet?"

"Nothing, I made it up. I wanted to see if you were over Quentin. Looks like I was wrong. Won't joke about this again," Ethan teased.

Lauren got even angrier and hit him.

"Ethan, you're so childish. Don't joke like this again," she said.

"Alright, I get it. I won't dare next time," Ethan replied.

Despite everything, Lauren was touched by Ethan's playful ending.

After meeting Sophia, she felt less disappointed and angry with Quentin.

But Quentin had chosen Sophia over her. This was a sore spot for Lauren, occasionally pricking her heart.

In Sophia's mind, Lauren was despicable. She looked down on her.

Sophia believed Lauren had saved Jessica just to marry Quentin, proving her scheming nature.

There was also much controversy about Lauren's pregnancy, with most saying she wanted to use her child to seize the Robinson Conglomerate's assets, making Sophia despise her even more.

Sophia had promised Quentin she would personally explain these matters to Lauren. But Lauren ignored everything she said, which infuriated her.

Since Lauren didn't appreciate it, Sophia decided to take the initiative. No matter how hard it was, she would make Quentin accept her again.

During her investigation, Sophia found Ulysses intriguing. Maybe she could use him.

Her chance came when she learned that Lauren's parents didn't know about her divorce.

Sophia sent Ulysses an anonymous file with a photo of Quentin and Lauren's divorce agreement, informing him that Lauren was currently living at Ethan's villa. Then she waited for the drama to unfold.

Seeing the email, Ulysses nearly had a heart attack. He remembered Kimberly telling him Matthew's party was canceled days earlier. He had some doubts but didn't dare challenge the Robinson Family, so he let it slide.

Lauren's actions shocked him. She secretly divorced Quentin without considering the family's interests. He was furious.

Seeing the agreement, where Lauren had given up everything, made Ulysses even more upset. He stormed to Ethan's villa, ignoring the servants' attempts to stop him, and barged in.

"Lauren, get out here!" Ulysses shouted from downstairs. Several servants, fearing something might happen, quickly called Ethan.

Lauren was upstairs putting Matthew to sleep. Hearing the commotion, she was startled but knew she had to face it. She didn't expect the news to spread so quickly. She went downstairs, her heart was pounding.

She calmly asked, "Dad, how did you find this place?" Lauren's face was pale. If Ulysses had found her, it meant he knew everything she had hidden.

Ulysses strode up to her and slapped her.

"Were you planning to deceive me forever if I hadn't come? Why did you divorce Quentin? Don't you know Walker Corporation can't do without Robinson Conglomerate's help right now? Where do you place the family's interests? Do you still consider me your father?" Ulysses raged.

Unprepared, Lauren was slapped and fell. Her cheeks hurt, but her heart hurt more.

"Dad, did you come here just to scold me? Do you even see me as your daughter? Do you care about my well-being?" Lauren cried, looking at Ulysses. He ignored her words, still enraged.

"Of course, I care about you. Marrying into the Robinson Family was the luckiest thing in your life. You didn't cherish it and even implicated Walker Corporation. How could I have such an unfilial daughter!" Ulysses said, patting his chest as if he had suffered a great grievance.

Lauren wiped away her tears and stood up. "Quentin and I are already divorced, so I can't help the Walker family anymore. Since you look down on me, you can cut ties with me. After all, you've never treated me as your daughter!" she rebutted.

Lauren stubbornly refused to shed a tear. Her life was a complete mess. There couldn't be anyone more miserable than her in this world.
