Chapter 328 Unexpected Outcome
After Quentin made a bunch of calls to Noah, he finally got a text back: [Same place.]
Quentin chuckled when he read the message, thinking, 'Is he upset with me for not informing him about everything?'
Thinking it over, Quentin figured he should meet up with Noah to clear things up.
"Hey, you! How come you're the first one at the bar today? Something up?" Quentin spotted Noah at the bar and threw an arm around his neck, but it tugged at his wound, making him break out in a sweat from the pain.
"What happened?" Seeing Quentin in such discomfort, Noah forgot his anger for a moment and asked, "Are you hurt?"
"You're not really mad, are you?" Quentin teased.
Ignoring Quentin's words, Noah pressed on, "Where exactly are you hurt?"
"It's nothing, just a cut on my arm, no big deal," Quentin said, sitting down next to Noah.
Hearing this, Noah's face darkened like he remembered something, and he started drinking in silence.
"What's wrong?" Quentin asked, noticing Noah's troubled expression.
But Noah, looking like he couldn't be bothered to respond, made Quentin stop talking and start scrolling through the news on his phone.
Seeing Quentin's silence, Noah got even angrier. He slammed his glass on the table, shouting, "Quentin, don't you have anything to say to me or to explain to Sophia?"
At that moment, Quentin finally got what was bugging Noah.
But Quentin felt there was nothing to explain and no need to, so he asked Noah back, "What do you think I need to explain?"
"What? Don't you even have any idea yourself?" If it weren't for their long-standing friendship, Noah might have punched Quentin in the face.
Right now, in Noah's mind, Quentin was no different from a jerk.
Seeing Quentin clueless about his mistake, Noah couldn't hold back any longer and let it all out, "Did you ever love Sophia? If not, why did you agree to marry her?"
"It's not what you think," Quentin started to explain.
Before he could finish, Noah continued, "At the engagement party, you left Sophia alone. Did you ever think about her feelings, how she would face the guests?"
Hearing Noah's barrage of questions, Quentin realized Noah had been harboring resentment for a long time. "Noah, you still have feelings for Sophia, right?"
Noah's face went pale like Quentin had just hit him where it hurt the most.
Noah thought, 'So Quentin had already figured it out.' He couldn't help but let out a cold laugh.
Noah had thought he had hidden his feelings for Sophia well enough to even deceive himself, but Quentin saw right through him.
After Sophia left the Robinson Mansion, Noah sensed that his affection for her had faded, making him indifferent to whom he eventually married. So, he had many lovers..
Until Sophia reappeared, Noah realized he had been deceiving himself all along.
He had never forgotten her, and his love was deeper than before.
No matter what Sophia did, whether she used or deceived him, Noah just wanted her to be happy, even if she loved Quentin instead of him.
"No," Noah denied firmly, knowing Quentin wouldn't believe him.
"Noah, believe me, Sophia is not as simple as she seems," Quentin's face was serious. From Lauren's sudden outbursts to her being captured by the Obsidian Gang, Quentin had a hunch that Sophia knew something.
Maybe all these troubles were orchestrated by Sophia.
"So you're saying Lauren is a kind-hearted woman?" Noah found Quentin unreasonable, thinking he was blinded by love.
Lauren had done terrible things to Jessica, and Quentin had already forgotten.
"We've known Sophia for so many years, and that doesn't count for more than Lauren, who just appeared?" Noah was extremely disappointed in Quentin.
"It's not about the length of time," Quentin was getting a bit irritable but tried to control himself.
If both he and Noah acted impulsively, nothing would get resolved.
"Forget it. I came to talk about the shares. I transferred them to you in a hurry." Knowing Noah wouldn't listen, Quentin chose not to mention Sophia and instead refocused on the main topic at hand.
Mentioning this only made Noah angrier.
Noah felt Quentin was using him and began to doubt Quentin's sincerity. "Dream on, I'm not giving the shares back."
"What do you mean?" Quentin knew Noah was speaking out of anger, but using the Robinson Conglomerate shares as leverage made him furious.
Quentin suddenly remembered what Brent had told him but believed Noah wasn't that despicable.
Quentin emphasized, "Noah, I advise you to think carefully and choose your words wisely. Don't joke about this."
Noah replied firmly, "Quentin, I'm serious. The Robinson Conglomerate shares came to me through legal procedures. Why should I give them back just because you say so?"
