Chapter 65 Smartness Backfires

Wendy was disappointed with Quentin's response. She thought Quentin would be different toward her, expecting him to be happy to see her. However, reality proved otherwise, shattering her assumptions.

"Quentin, is there a misunderstanding between us? Why have you been avoiding me lately? Do you know? I'm going abroad for filming. Don't you have anything to say to me?" Wendy fixed her gaze on Quentin, waiting for his response.

Quentin didn't want to engage too deeply with Wendy, but in this public setting, he couldn't simply walk away. Therefore, he responded coldly, "Safe travels then."

Quentin's distant demeanor left Wendy feeling deeply disappointed. What did "safe travels" even imply? Was that all he had to say?

With a sigh, Wendy expressed, "Quentin, why do you seem so distant now? Have you forgotten the moments when we used to enjoy drinks and conversations together? Those were truly good times."

Quentin remained composed, looking into the distance, "I have things to attend to. We can talk another time."

Before Wendy could respond, Quentin stood up and walked away. Watching Quentin's retreating figure, Wendy clenched her fists tightly, vowing in her heart to get Quentin no matter the cost.

Quentin engaged in conversation with Febastian, and shortly after, the birthday party began. Quentin deliberately chose a discreet spot to sit, and Wendy quietly followed suit.

but with no sign of him at the villa's entrance, her anxiety began to escalate.

Observing that Lauren was still awake, Housekeeper Robinson closed the doors and windows before approaching her.

"Madam, Young Master must have had prior engagements today. You should rest early," he suggested.

Lauren forced a smile, her own desire for rest mirroring Quentin's absence. His usual presence at home had become a constant, making his sudden disappearance all the more unsettling.

"Habits aren't always a blessing," Lauren thought wryly. She had navigated the past two years on her own, but on this seemingly ordinary night, sleep seemed to evade her.

"Alright, Uncle Robinson. I'll head to my room now. You should rest early too," Lauren said with a tinge of disappointment. Housekeeper Robinson, observing Lauren's furrowed brow, wasn't overly concerned. To him, this was just a phase of their budding romance, hence the deep attachment.

Even after returning to her room, Lauren couldn't find sleep. Every half hour, she checked the adjacent room to see if Quentin had returned, only to be disappointed each time.

"What am I doing? He clearly said he was going to a party, yet here I am being melodramatic. Lauren, calm down, don't become a clingy woman!" Lauren gave herself a stern mental lecture before finally lying down on the bed.

Staring at her silent phone, Lauren couldn't help but sigh.

It was just a party, yet he couldn't even be bothered to give her a call.

Turning and tossing in bed, Lauren eventually drifted off to sleep after what seemed like an eternity. Unaware at that moment, Quentin was facing a life-and-death situation.

Wendy sat beside Quentin, pouring herself more drinks. Quentin frowned but refrained from intervening.

The more Wendy drank, the more uncontrollable she became. By the end of the party, she was completely intoxicated.

"Quentin, why have you changed? Don't you know I love you?" Wendy mumbled against Quentin's arm in her semi-conscious state.

Quentin distanced himself, "You're drunk. It's time for you to go back."

Ignoring his words, Wendy continued to cling to Quentin in her drunken state.

Other guests at the table couldn't help but chuckle at Wendy's unbecoming behavior. Not wanting Wendy to embarrass herself further, Quentin decided to escort her away.

Wendy leaned heavily on Quentin, "Quentin, can you take me away?" She nuzzled against him.

Quentin swiftly led Wendy away, reaching his car and swiftly placing her inside.

Focused on driving, Quentin only wanted to resolve this major inconvenience.

However, Wendy became restless. With just the two of them in the car, she boldly began to undress in the passenger seat.

Seeing this, Quentin immediately diverted the car to a secluded spot, "Wendy, what are you doing!?" Quentin reprimanded loudly.

Amidst her drunken ramblings, Wendy professed, "Quentin, I love you. I'm willing to give myself to you. Just please don't be so indifferent to me." With that, she lunged at him in her complete nudity.

Quentin forcefully pulled Wendy away, covering her exposed body with his coat. “I have a wife. Control yourself, or I’ll throw you out of my car!”

"Wife? Are you talking about that ordinary woman at your grandmother's birthday party? What does she have that's better than me? Are you rejecting me for her? Besides, everyone in City A knows your wife is just for show. You've been linked with so many women over the years, and she never intervened. Why hesitate with me?" Wendy shouted, almost succeeding in her plan.

Quentin remained stoic, "I don't want to ruin our professional relationship. If you persist, I won't hesitate to terminate our contract." Quentin's tone was cold.

"Why are you treating me like this when I love you so much? I'm about to leave the country, can't you love me just once?" Wendy began to cry.

Quentin decided to drive her back, but at that moment, Wendy exploded.

"Fine, since you don't love me, my life is meaningless." With those words, Wendy opened the car door, seemingly about to jump out, using it as a threat against Quentin.

Unaware of Wendy's scheme, Quentin was startled. Instinctively, he reached out to grab her, but his foot was still on the accelerator, causing the car to lurch forward uncontrollably.

With a loud crash, the car collided with a tree, smoke billowing from the front.

Fortunately, Quentin's injuries were minor, just a few scratches. However, Wendy, not wearing a seatbelt, had slammed into the car, her legs covered in blood.

Quickly, Quentin rushed Wendy to the hospital, by now, it was already one in the morning.

After receiving medical treatment, it was revealed that Wendy had a fractured leg and needed to be hospitalized for observation, putting a halt to her filming plans.
