Chapter 130 A Dire Conclusion

Quentin's face darkened instantly. He said through clenched teeth, "Who gave you the guts to slander Lauren like that?"

His words nearly brought the reporter to tears, but maintaining her professional composure, she quickly regained her cool.

"I'm truly sorry, Mr. Robinson. This news just came in. The informant's claims seem reasonable, and he said that you and your wife have long been divorced. I believe the public has the right to know the truth," the reporter said, trembling.

Quentin frowned. "What news? Let me see it."

"I'm sorry, Mr. Robinson, but we must protect the informant's privacy. Please don't make things difficult for us, okay?" The reporter said.

"Make things difficult for you? You've already turned my banquet into chaos, and it's already generous of me not to hold you accountable. You better cooperate. Everything I want to know, I'll find out. If I have to send someone to investigate, it will be too late for you to regret it," Quentin said coldly.

He held Lauren tightly, feeling her trembling. She was scared.

Quentin's hand clenched into a fist behind Lauren. He hadn't expected things to turn out this way. This time, he had indeed been negligent.

He was so immersed in the joy and excitement of announcing the news that he hadn't noticed someone targeting him and Lauren.

Hearing Quentin's words, the reporter was troubled and frightened. After much consideration, she finally gave in and handed Quentin the phone with the newly received message.

Quentin took the phone and glanced at it. An anonymous email detailed shocking negative information about him and Lauren.

The email described in detail how Quentin had toyed with Wendy's feelings and then abandoned her, and how Lauren had framed Wendy, using Quentin's influence to pin crimes of kidnapping and assault on her.

Quentin read it and couldn't help but sneer. This informant was ridiculous. Without evidence, they dared distort the truth.

"How amusing. Do you guys have zero brain cells? This person makes baseless claims, and you believe it?"

Quentin's sharp gaze swept over the reporters. He had already guessed that all the media present had received this anonymous email.

"Mr. Robinson, we don't believe everything he says, which is why we want an explanation from you. Is it true that Wendy was arrested and imprisoned? Why was she arrested?"

The time for Wendy's prosecution had yet to be determined. Because she was a public figure, the trial had been kept secret until now to avoid causing a stir among her fans.

Unexpectedly, the person revealing this negative information knew about it. Quentin concluded that this person was either close to Wendy or had been secretly monitoring him.

What audacity to target Lauren? It seemed this person had a death wish.

"Mrs. Robinson, could you say a few words? What exactly happened between you and Wendy? Why is someone saying you framed her?"

The reporter pointed the microphone at Lauren. Lauren was panic-stricken, not knowing how to respond. 'Should I tell the truth or not?  Would the truth harm Quentin? What is the best way to respond?' She thought.

"I... It wasn't me." Lauren hurriedly hid behind Quentin. She had anticipated every situation except for this out-of-control scene.

"Mrs. Robinson, please say a few words. Does Wendy's situation have anything to do with you?" The reporter pressed on, relentlessly questioning Lauren.

Lauren grew increasingly anxious as the reporters kept asking. Even though Quentin was shielding her, she was still very nervous.

Grandma Robinson, seeing the situation spiraling out of control, was worried something might happen to Lauren. Ignoring her frailty, she rushed onto the stage to protect Lauren.

"Stop saying nonsense! Lauren is not that kind of person. Stop nagging and disperse!"

Grandma Robinson hurried over, but the reporters, eager for the latest scoop, wouldn't heed her words and leave.

Grandma Robinson was extremely anxious and, while pushing and shoving, fell to the ground.

"Grandma!" Lauren saw Grandma Robinson fall and was so worried she was about to cry.

"Quentin, go protect Grandma! Go!" Lauren shouted at Quentin, disregarding her image.

Quentin had been entirely focused on protecting Lauren, and he hadn't noticed Grandma Robinson's fall. By the time he realized, Grandma Robinson was already on the ground.

He quickly jumped off the stage and rushed to Grandma Robinson's side.

"Grandma, are you alright?" Quentin helped Grandma Robinson up, very concerned.

"I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Protect Lauren well, and don't let these people trouble her," Grandma Robinson said, still worried about Lauren. Lauren stood on the stage, her eyes fixed on them.

"Don't worry, Grandma. I'll protect her. Now, let me take you to the hospital for a check-up," Quentin said. Seeing that Grandma Robinson couldn't stand up, his worry deepened.

Grandma Robinson had always been Quentin's pillar of strength, a towering figure in his life. He never imagined a day would come when she would fall before him, so helpless and fragile.

Seeing Grandma Robinson in trouble, the reporters quickly made their way to avoid responsibility. At this moment, Lauren ran over.

"Grandma, I'm sorry. It's all my fault." Lauren's tears blurred her vision. She never expected such a highly anticipated day to turn out like this.

"You all, just wait!" Quentin, carrying Grandma Robinson, glared fiercely at the troublemaking reporters.

All the reporters were intimidated by Quentin's gaze. They hadn't expected such an incident either.

However, the negative information revealed seemed very real, and they wouldn't give up on this story. The fifteenth-anniversary celebration of Robinson Conglomerate ended with Quentin and Lauren taking Grandma Robinson to the hospital.

Grandma Robinson was wheeled into the emergency room. After the doctor's examination, it was found that Grandma Robinson had suffered a joint fracture from the fall.

Due to her age, recovery would be slow, and conservative treatment was the best option, though it might not be very effective and would likely impact her mobility in the future.

"What? Grandma will have to rely on a cane or wheelchair to walk in the future?" Lauren's face turned pale. She couldn't imagine how the always-strong Grandma Robinson would react to this news.

Quentin felt equally distressed. It was his negligence that led to Grandma Robinson's injury.

He was determined to find out who caused today's fiasco and would not let them go.

"Doctor, is surgery an option?" Quentin asked. The doctor shook his head, "Given her age, surgery is high-risk. It could cause more harm than good. We recommend against it."

"Is there any hope for my grandma to fully recover?" Quentin asked.

"Yes, but the chances are slim. At her age, her body's healing capacity is limited," the doctor replied truthfully.

Quentin nodded. Given the circumstances, he could only follow the doctor's advice and have Grandma Robinson cooperate with the treatment.
