Chapter 254 The Relationship Among the Four
Lauren struggled to stay awake while Matthew, overwhelmed by fear and sadness, dozed off in her arms. Ethan sat there, knowing that anything he said at this moment would be inappropriate, so he chose to remain silent and wait.
Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed from a distance, a mix of high heels and heavy men's shoes.
Lauren frowned and looked in the direction of the sound. As expected, she saw Quentin and Sophia approaching with serious expressions.
Lauren gently placed Matthew in Ethan's arms and quickly walked a few steps to meet them.
Lauren remained silent and made no attempt to stop Quentin. Quentin walked past her as if she were invisible.
Quentin strode forward, and as he passed Ethan, his eyes grew even darker. The anger that had subsided now reignited.
He wondered if Lauren was really pushing her luck and bringing Ethan here.
Sophia glanced at Quentin's expression change and felt a secret joy. Lauren was asking for trouble.
Lauren followed closely behind, hoping to get through unnoticed. However, reality embarrassed her once again; as soon as she reached the door of the hospital room, two bodyguards stopped her.
Sophia turned back and gave Lauren a disdainful smile. Lauren ignored Sophia and, feeling anxious, spoke up.
Lauren pleaded, "Quentin, I beg you. Let me in."
Quentin heard Lauren's plea and turned around with a frown. He glared at the bodyguards, scaring them into trembling. The bodyguards quickly pulled Lauren aside.
Seeing this, Lauren wore a smug smile but made sure Quentin didn't notice.
"Quentin, I think Lauren is really pitiful. Why don't you let her in to see Mrs. Jessica Robinson? After all, Mrs. Jessica Robinson cares about her the most," Sophia said, subtly mocking Lauren.
Her words had the desired effect. Quentin's frown deepened.
"Someone as ungrateful as her doesn't deserve any kindness. Grandma was good to her, and how did she repay her? Grandma has been in the hospital for twelve days, and she's only coming now. Does she deserve Grandma's love?" Quentin questioned coldly.
"But Matthew is outside, too. Are you really willing to make Matthew suffer along with Miss Walker?" Sophia asked, pretending to be cautious.
Quentin glanced at Sophia, feeling a bit impatient. He remarked, "I've already said. They have nothing to do with the Robinson Family anymore. Don't mention them again."
Sophia replied, "Okay."
Before coming here, Quentin had already told Sophia the general situation. Sophia was overjoyed; everything was going according to her and Ruby's plan. Now, Lauren was no match for her, and she could finally stop worrying.
Lauren's pleas could still be heard from outside. Sophia looked at Quentin's gloomy face and finally said softly, "Then I'll go out and persuade Miss Walker to leave early and not disturb Jessica's rest."
Quentin nodded, his gaze fixed on Jessica, lost in thought.
Lauren pleaded, "Quentin, I'm begging you this one time. I really want to see Jessica."
Lauren was in great pain. It seemed Quentin hated her to the core and wouldn't give her a chance to atone.
At that moment, the hospital room door suddenly opened. Lauren looked at the door with wide eyes, thinking Quentin had changed his mind and that her sincerity had moved him. Unexpectedly, a smiling Sophia walked out.
"Miss Walker, please leave. Mrs. Jessica Robinson needs to rest, and your noise will only worsen her condition. If you really feel guilty towards Jessica, then stay away from her in the future," Sophia said sweetly, her tone extremely gentle.
If it weren't for the smug and arrogant look in her eyes, even Lauren might have been persuaded to leave.
Lauren then realized that Sophia had told her about Jessica to lead her here to be humiliated by Quentin.
Sophia must have known long ago that Quentin was aware of the severance declaration, so she pretended to be kind and told her the news.
However, Lauren didn't care about the humiliation at this moment. She wanted to see Jessica and apologize properly.
"I'm not leaving. Jessica definitely wants to see me. You have no right to make me leave," Lauren said coldly.
She had nothing to say to Sophia. Although she was no longer related to the Robinson Family, it wasn't Sophia's place to judge her.
Sophia pretended to be aggrieved and said, "Miss Walker, I'm kind. Staying here won't help your relationship with Quentin and will disturb others. You should know that. If Jessica wanted to see you, she would have sent someone to get you. She wouldn't have been in the hospital for over ten days without thinking of you."
Sophia's words were full of lies. Jessica had been in a coma since she was hospitalized, not conscious at all.
Lauren frowned. She knew Sophia was difficult to deal with and understood Sophia's intentions towards Quentin.
Sophia's pretense was to paint Lauren as the villain and herself as the good person.
Lauren decided it wasn't worth arguing with Sophia. After all, Sophia couldn't make decisions for Quentin.
Lauren returned to her seat to continue waiting. She believed she would eventually see Jessica.
Seeing Lauren ignoring her, Sophia walked over with a sinister smile.
Sophia advised, "Miss Walker, take my advice and leave with Matthew."
Lauren looked at Sophia sharply.. She said, "This is a hospital, a public place. Do you think you can make me leave?"
Ethan was also angry. He retorted, "Yeah, Miss Hall. Don't you get tired of meddling in other people's business?"
Ethan and Lauren's words infuriated Sophia.
"I can't argue with you two. I'm asking you to leave for your own good, so you don't waste your time here. You really don't appreciate good intentions," Sophia said angrily.
Sophia pretended to be defeated and frustrated, but she was actually very pleased. She had deliberately argued loudly with Lauren to make Quentin dislike Lauren even more. Her plan had succeeded, and she feigned disappointment as she returned to the hospital room.
Sophia looked at Quentin with a pitiful expression and said, "Quentin, they refuse to leave. It looks like they're determined to wait."
Quentin blinked. He said, "If she wants to wait, let her wait. I can't let her in."
Sophia stood behind Quentin with a triumphant smile. Although she couldn't completely crush Lauren yet, Quentin's resolve against Lauren was enough to satisfy her.
