Chapter 310 The Last Meeting

Quentin stared at Sophia, his eyes full of intensity. If this is what she wanted, he'd give it to her.

"Take care and get some rest. I'm outta here," Quentin said, watching the doctor hook up all the medical gadgets again before he turned to leave.

Sophia, tears streaming down her face, asked, "Quentin, are you mad? Do you think I'm being too selfish?"

"Don't overthink it. I already said yes, so there's no point in dragging it out," Quentin replied.

Sophia's hand gripped the hospital bed tightly. She'd waited so long for this chance and wasn't about to let it slip away. "Then Quentin, once I'm out of here, let's get engaged first."

Quentin's body went rigid. After a few seconds, he replied coldly, "Okay."

Sophia felt a wave of satisfaction. She could finally relax. After Quentin left, Ruby came in. Sophia spilled her entire plan to Ruby, and they crafted the most detailed strategy for the situation. This time, Quentin wouldn't get away.

Quentin walked out of the hospital room, feeling suffocated. It was like he'd swallowed sour milk, making him feel sick but unable to throw up.

Just then, Felix showed up, looking at Quentin with concern. He opened his mouth but then hesitated.

Quentin, irritated by Felix's indecision, snapped, "If you got something to say, just spit it out. What could be worse than this?"

Seeing Quentin's anger, Felix didn't dare hold back. "Mr. Robinson, I just saw Ms. Walker rush into the hospital, but she left looking really upset. Did something happen at her place?"

Quentin shot Felix a glare and rushed back into the hospital to find out where Lauren was. He soon learned she had come to see him. But why didn't Lauren come to his room? Was it because Sophia was there, and she felt awkward?

Quentin quickly left the hospital, shoved Felix out of the car, and sped off to Lauren's house. He'd never felt such an urgent need to see Lauren. He missed her so much. There was this crazy urge inside him; he wanted to hug her, kiss her, and tell her how much he missed her.

They said impulsiveness was the devil's playground, but Quentin didn't care. People said he lived freely and without restraint, but he was about to become Sophia's husband. After that, he wouldn't have the right to miss Lauren. Even secretly holding a place for her in his heart would be a luxury.

Soon, Quentin arrived at Lauren's place. He parked the car and quickly made his way to her door. He knew where Lauren's new home was because he was always keeping tabs on her.

Before, under the guise of worrying about Matthew's safety, he had checked out everyone in the neighborhood, only then feeling okay about Lauren and Matthew living there.

Quentin knocked on the door, and Kimberly answered. Seeing Quentin, Kimberly's face darkened, and she asked coldly, "What do you want?"

In Kimberly's eyes, Quentin had hurt Lauren too many times. If it weren't for him helping Ulysses out of a tough spot, she would've kicked him out right then.

Quentin nodded at Kimberly as a greeting. "Is Lauren here? I need to talk to her."

Kimberly stared at him, not saying a word. She couldn't figure out what he was up to. Quentin's car accident had been all over the internet, but here he was, showing up to see Lauren.

"Sorry, Lauren's not here," Kimberly lied. She wasn't about to let Quentin hurt Lauren again.

Quentin's eyes drifted to the coat rack by the door, where Lauren's familiar jacket was hanging. Kimberly swallowed hard, knowing her lie had been busted. "Mr. Robinson, I don't think there's anything left for you to say."

"This is the last time I'll look for her," Quentin cut her off.

Kimberly didn't say anything else, just turned and let Quentin in. After Quentin sat down, she went upstairs to get Lauren.

When Lauren heard Quentin was there, she felt torn. She looked to Kimberly for advice, but this time Kimberly surprisingly agreed.

"We're reasonable people. He has helped us before. For that alone, you should talk to him face-to-face," Kimberly said calmly, no longer holding extreme emotions toward Quentin.

Lauren nodded and went downstairs, where she saw Quentin, dressed in black with a bandage on his head, looking a mess.

Hearing the sound, Quentin turned and saw Lauren. He immediately stood up and walked quickly to her. He wanted to say so much to Lauren, but when she was right there, he couldn't find the words.

"Mr. Robinson, what do you need?" Lauren asked coldly. She hid her disappointment perfectly, acting like nothing was wrong.

Quentin carefully watched Lauren's face but couldn't see any change. "You went to the hospital," he said, sure of himself, his eyes locked on Lauren, giving her no way out.

Lauren brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, feeling a bit awkward. "Yeah. So what?"

Seeing Lauren still trying to keep up her act, Quentin felt frustrated. "Lauren, don't you have anything to say to me?" He looked at her with a burning intensity.

He was getting stubborn. Even though he knew it was pointless, he wanted to know if Lauren, this woman who meant so much to him, had any desire to make things right with him. Even just a little.

If Lauren could admit it today, he could ignore everything—Sophia's sweetness, her desperate pleas, society's judgment. Because there was a strong urge in his heart pushing him to be with Lauren.

Lauren was momentarily stunned. She didn't know what Quentin wanted by coming here. She kept a stern face, avoiding his gaze, and walked step by step to the living room to sit down. Quentin followed closely and sat across from her.

"I heard from my dad that Brent's people are no longer bothering him, so that should be settled. I'm working on the design plans I promised you, but I need a bit more time," Lauren said.

"And?" For the first time, Quentin patiently listened to such trivial matters.

Lauren sat there stiffly. Today's Quentin was unusually persistent.

"Thank you, thank you for saving my dad. In my heart, a design plan can't repay you," she continued.

Lauren's polite and distant attitude cut Quentin deep. He wanted to take a step forward, but for some reason, it was so hard.
