Chapter 349 An Unexpected Encounter at the Hospital
After having lunch together, Kimberly made an excuse to go for a walk and left.
Now, only Quentin, Lauren, and Matthew were left in the room.
"Since I cooked, you should wash the dishes." These were Kimberly's parting words before she left.
Lauren pouted and muttered a complaint before heading into the kitchen, with Quentin following her.
This time, Lauren wasn't surprised; they worked together seamlessly and quickly cleaned up the kitchen.
When Lauren came out, she found Matthew asleep on the sofa. "Matthew?"
Matthew falling asleep right after eating was truly a blessing.
Lauren smiled and picked Matthew up, intending to take him to the bedroom, but she was surprised to find that he was burning up.
Lauren bent down and touched Matthew's forehead with her lips, realizing he had a fever.
"Quentin," Lauren called out urgently to Quentin.
"What's wrong?" Quentin had just come out of the bathroom and saw Lauren looking so anxious.
"Matthew has a high fever." Lauren said.
Quentin hurried over and felt Matthew's temperature with his hand, confirming that he was indeed very hot.
Without wasting any time, Quentin took Matthew from Lauren's arms. "Let's go to the hospital."
In the car, Lauren couldn't take her eyes off Matthew, fearing that if she looked away for even a moment, he would leave her.
"Oh my God," Lauren suddenly remembered something and covered her mouth in shock. "How could I forget that Matthew is allergic to seafood?"
Lauren began to blame herself. It had only been a week since she hadn't been with Matthew, and she had already forgotten his dietary restrictions.
"If anything happens to Matthew, I will never forgive myself." Lauren said.
As she spoke, tears started to fall from Lauren's eyes.
"Don't worry, Matthew will be fine." Quentin said.
While comforting Lauren, Quentin stepped on the gas.
When they arrived at the hospital, Quentin was surprised to find a crowd of reporters at the entrance.
As soon as Quentin got out of the car, the reporters quickly surrounded him.
"Mr. Robinson, are you here because you're worried about Noah?"
"Does this confirm what Miss Hall said earlier?"
"Is this a love story involving three people?"
Already worried about Matthew, Quentin's temper flared when so many people blocked his way. "Get out of my way!"
Quentin said fiercely, "If you keep pestering me, you won't see the sun tomorrow."
Hearing Quentin's threat, the reporters wisely dispersed.
Their main targets were Noah and Sophia; Quentin's arrival was just an unexpected bonus.
The reporters stopped bothering them, but their cameras never stopped clicking.
After seeing Matthew taken away by the pediatric doctors, Quentin and Lauren finally felt relieved.
"You even forgot something like this." After hearing Lauren's explanation, the doctor scolded them angrily. "Luckily, you brought him in early. If you had been any later, who knows what could have happened."
"I'm really sorry," Lauren apologized to the doctor through her tears.
Faced with such a situation, Lauren was genuinely scared and deeply regretted her mistake.
Seeing Lauren so upset, the doctor softened a bit. "Don't worry too much. He'll be fine after taking some medicine. Just be more careful next time."
After giving Lauren some instructions, the doctor left.
Hearing that Matthew was going to be okay, Quentin also felt relieved.
However, Quentin was still bothered by the reporters' questions earlier.
'Noah?' Thinking about it, Quentin felt puzzled. 'Could Noah also be in the hospital? Did something happen to him?'
Quentin started to feel uneasy and quickly dialed Noah's number.
The first call went unanswered. The second call rang for a long time before someone picked up.
"Noah?" Quentin called out.
There was a long hesitation on the other end before a voice responded. "No, it's me."
"Sophia?" Quentin was surprised. Why did Sophia have Noah's phone?
"Where's Noah?" Quentin asked.
Hearing Quentin's question, Sophia started to cry. "I'm sorry."
Why was Sophia apologizing to him?
Quentin wanted to ask but then heard a noise near Sophia. "Is she also in the hospital?"
Coupled with the reporters' earlier comments, Quentin had a bad feeling. "Are you also in the hospital? Which floor? I'm coming over."
Sophia wanted to deny it but knew she couldn't hide it, so she told Quentin.
Seeing Quentin hang up the phone with a serious expression, Lauren became worried. "Did something happen?"
"Noah was in a car accident. He's also in this hospital," Quentin said, frowning and looking very upset.
"You should go. I'll take care of Matthew here." Lauren said.
Lauren understood Quentin's feelings and gave him a reason to leave.
"Okay." Quentin nodded and quickly headed upstairs.
"What exactly happened?" Quentin arrived at the emergency room and saw the red light still flashing and Sophia crying on the floor. He felt dizzy for a moment.
"It's all my fault. If he hadn't tried to save me, Noah wouldn't be like this," Sophia said, crying softly.
Seeing Sophia like this, Quentin had mixed feelings.
Sophia was very good at acting, and Quentin didn't know if he could trust her words.
"You'd better pray that Noah is okay, or I won't let you off," Quentin said angrily, not caring about her tears.
"Even if it wasn't you, I wouldn't forgive myself." Sophia said.
Quentin walked over and helped Sophia up, speaking gently, "Noah truly likes you. You should understand that by now. I hope you treat him well once he's okay."
"I feel the same way," Sophia said, looking at Quentin with red eyes. "I risked my life to save you back then, but what about you?"
Quentin was momentarily speechless, not knowing how to respond to Sophia's question. "Forget about me. I'm not the same as him. These two things can't be compared."
After all, Quentin had Lauren and Matthew by his side, which couldn't be compared.
