Chapter 407 Lauren's Lie
"Lauren?" Quentin asked, his voice uncertain.
The damn drug was making his vision blurry, but he recognized Lauren's voice.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have disturbed you," Lauren said, turning to leave.
But Quentin's angry shout stopped her in her tracks.
"Stop!"
Quentin's voice was hoarse, a side effect of the drug.
Lauren turned back to face Quentin.
Did they want her to watch them do that?
How could he be so disgusting?
Lauren thought, feeling a pang of sadness.
But what could she do? She couldn't win Quentin's heart; she couldn't even get close to it.
She might not have even touched the edge of his heart.
"Quentin, I don't have a taste for porn, especially not the live version," Lauren said coolly.
She thought she had made herself clear enough and hoped Quentin would let her go.
Although Quentin had agreed she could move around the villa, without his key, she couldn't open the ornate wooden door on the first floor.
Quentin had no idea what Lauren was talking about. He just wanted her to get rid of Odette and help him with the antidote. How did that turn into watching porn?
He felt he needed to explain, but Odette spoke first.
Having just been rejected by Quentin, she was a bit unhinged.
"Lauren, Quentin was amazing just now!" Odette said, her intention clear.
She wanted Lauren to misunderstand, to think she and Quentin had made love.
Even if she couldn't have Quentin, she wanted Lauren to give up on him completely.
If Odette couldn't have him, Lauren shouldn't even think about it.
Lauren was stunned, taking a few seconds to process what Odette was saying.
She couldn't help but imagine herself with Quentin, feeling a rush of anger.
Then she noticed the keyword.
Just now?
Odette's words meant they were already done?
No wonder Quentin wanted her to stop.
He had already been with Odette in the villa where she was staying.
Did that mean Quentin's next step was to move Odette in and tell her, Lauren, to get lost?
Lauren thought, but she couldn't fool herself.
She forced a smile she thought was appropriate, but tears welled up in her eyes.
How strange.
She had seen Quentin's true colors long ago. She had decided to give up on him. She had wanted to leave him as soon as possible.
But why?
Why did her heart still hurt so much?
She should have known this day would come.
Lauren tilted her head back slightly, trying to defy gravity and keep the tears from falling.
She didn't want Quentin to look down on her.
"Lauren, it's not what you think," Quentin felt he needed to explain, not wanting Lauren to misunderstand him.
"Not what I think?" Lauren laughed, tears finally falling. "Quentin, do you think I'm blind? How stupid do you think I am?"
"Are you going to let me go now? You don't need to kick me out, I'll leave on my own! I've wanted to leave for a long time!"
Lauren threw out those words and ran upstairs to pack her things, ignoring Quentin's explanation.
But when she returned to the room where she had once been imprisoned, she realized she had nothing to pack. Quentin had forcibly brought her here.
She was just stalling. She wanted to stay a little longer, to see if Quentin would come to stop her.
A few minutes later, she laughed at herself.
Quentin was probably lost in Odette's embrace. Why would he care about her?
She had stalled long enough. It was time to go.
She should have left long ago, but Quentin had imprisoned her, even her heart.
She didn't know Quentin was on his way to her room.
Drugged, Quentin had struggled to get rid of Odette and was now coming to Lauren for the antidote.
When he arrived at Lauren's room, she was about to leave.
"Where are you going?" Quentin asked, trying to keep his voice calm despite his desire.
To Lauren, his tone sounded harsh, as if he were saying, "Where do you think you're going? Hurry up and pack your things and get out!"
Lauren took a deep breath and exhaled, trying to keep her voice cold.
"Mr. Robinson, don't worry. I'll leave right away and won't bother you anymore."
Lauren's words made Quentin feel terrible. He knew Odette had misled her, but he didn't have the patience to explain right now.
He only knew his body was in pain, and the best antidote was right in front of him.
Quentin picked Lauren up and threw her onto the bed. Before she could react, he was on top of her.
"Quentin, what are you doing?" Lauren shouted. "Don't touch me with the body you just used on another woman!"
"Lauren, you'd better shut up now. Quentin's eyes were cold, and that coldness made Lauren's heart break completely.
Of course, with Odette, everything was different. Even the way he looked at her had changed.
She suddenly found Quentin unfamiliar because it had been so long since he had looked at her like this.
Lauren moved her lips and said, "Mr. Robinson, please have some respect."
Those words made Quentin stop.
Did he hear that right? Lauren told him to have some respect.
When had anyone ever told Quentin to have respect? Lauren was the first.
The very first.
Lauren had the nerve. She didn't want him to touch her, so he would touch her even more.
Lauren had secretly sighed in relief when Quentin stopped, but a few seconds later, he started again, more roughly than before.
"Quentin, stop!"
Lauren was truly scared. She had never seen Quentin like this.
She resisted fiercely, remembering the time she had almost been raped.
What Quentin was doing now, without her consent, was no different from rape to her.
"Quentin, can you let me go?" Lauren pleaded. She didn't want Quentin to trample on her last bit of dignity, so she told a lie.
"Because I'm already pregnant with Gregory's child."
