Chapter 355 The First Signs of Conflict
Women's daily lives were always intertwined with shopping, and before they knew it, Lauren and Odette had already reached the sixth floor of the mall.
Odette picked up a black dress and held it against herself, asking Lauren, "Lauren, do you think this looks good?"
The black color made Odette's skin look even more beautiful, adding a touch of allure to her cuteness.
"Yeah, it looks great," Lauren said with a smile. "It suits you perfectly."
After hearing Lauren's compliment, Odette took the dress and went into the fitting room.
"Odette is still just a kid," Lauren began to chastise herself for her previous doubts.
"Lauren, can you help me with the zipper?" Odette said.
Hearing Odette ask for help, Lauren followed her into the fitting room.
What surprised Lauren was the long scar on Odette's back.
"What is this?" Lauren was momentarily at a loss for words.
"It's nothing," Odette said with a faint smile. "Just a small injury from many years ago."
"How did this happen?" Lauren couldn't help but feel a surge of pity for Odette.
Lauren gently touched the scar on Odette's back, feeling as if the pain was her own. "How did you get this?"
"I took a knife for Quentin," Odette explained. "At the time, Quentin was being chased by enemies, and the knife was about to hit him, so I stepped in."
Odette's bravery and courage shocked Lauren. After all, a woman wouldn't casually take a hit for a man.
"You know, Quentin has done so much for me. I couldn't let him get hurt," Odette said, her eyes shining with an indescribable determination.
"Thank you," Lauren initially wanted to say, but after thinking for a moment, she changed her words. "Thank you, Odette, for protecting Quentin. It must have hurt a lot."
"It's nothing," Odette shook her head and smiled. "At the time, Quentin told me that if anyone ever rejected me, he would marry me. So I didn't feel any pain at all."
Hearing this, Lauren stopped.
What did Odette just say? Quentin said he would marry her?
"So..." Odette slowly turned around and held Lauren's hand. "Lauren, I know you're a good person. Please, can you let Quentin go for me?"
What kind of joke was this? Lauren was already Quentin's wife. Just because Odette saved Quentin's life, did she have to give him up?
Lauren sneered, feeling pathetic for underestimating Odette.
"What if I say no?" This time, Lauren decided to firmly express her stance.
"Please," Odette said, tears streaming down her face. "Otherwise, I really don't know what to do."
Seeing the pitiful Odette, Lauren felt a twinge of compassion. But if it were anyone else, she would never give up Quentin.
"Let go," Lauren tried to free herself from Odette's grip and prepared to leave.
"No, please." Odette said.
In the struggle between Lauren and Odette, Odette accidentally fell off a high stool and out of the fitting room. Due to the severe impact, she passed out.
"Odette, are you okay?" Lauren was startled and was about to help her up when someone beat her to it.
"Odette, are you okay?" Quentin held Odette in his arms and glared at Lauren.
"It's not like that," Lauren wanted to explain, but Quentin wouldn't listen.
Quentin zipped up Odette's dress and immediately carried her away.
Seeing Quentin and Odette's intimate actions, Lauren felt an indescribable sadness. She blamed herself for her mistake and Quentin for his lack of understanding. What angered her the most was how easily Quentin could hold Odette and help her dress, as if he was very familiar with it.
'Is my relationship with Quentin about to face another challenge just as it was stabilizing?' Lauren thought to herself.
After leaving with Odette, Quentin didn't take her to the hospital but to her home. As he approached the bed to lay her down, Odette still hadn't let go.
"You're awake?" Quentin asked.
Hearing Quentin's words, Odette finally opened her eyes.
"When?" Quentin was a bit angry, having worried about her for so long.
"I forgot," Odette stuck out her tongue. "Your embrace is too warm; I didn't want to leave."
With that, Odette hugged Quentin even tighter.
"Alright, stop it," Quentin bent down, trying to gently place Odette on the bed. But unexpectedly, Odette pulled him down, and with a quick move, she was sitting on top of him.
"I don't want to," Odette clung to Quentin, pouting. "I don't want to leave you."
"Odette, I'm already married." Quentin never knew how to handle Odette, as he owed her too much.
"I don't mind. I can be your lover," Odette said, giving Quentin a kiss on the lips.
"Where did you learn this?" Quentin frowned. "Get up."
"No!" Odette said.
In the struggle between Quentin and Odette, to prevent her from moving around, Quentin simply sat on top of her, pinning her down.
"So you like it this way." Odette smiled.
Seeing Odette's flushed face, Quentin decided it was time to make things clear. "Odette, we really shouldn't do this."
"You're lying!" Odette cried out loudly. "You said you would take responsibility for me."
Quentin helped Odette up and gently wiped the tears from her face. Odette took the opportunity to kiss him.
"As long as I have this, it's enough. I don't ask for anything else," Odette said, hiding in Quentin's arms. "Just don't leave me alone. I worked hard abroad to study so I could come back to you sooner, but I was still too late."
Quentin just listened quietly, not saying much.
"Don't reject me," Odette said, unbuttoning Quentin's shirt one by one and kissing him again. "We can just be like before. I won't interfere with your life."
Quentin stopped being passive and actively removed Odette's clothes. They became entwined together.
