Chapter 357 The Rival in Love is a Subordinate

When Lauren woke up, Quentin was already gone.

"Quentin?" Lauren got out of bed and called him.

"What's up?" Quentin's tone was somewhat indifferent, as if he was busy with something else.

"Did you go to the office?" Lauren quickly guessed Quentin's whereabouts, but today was the weekend, and he shouldn't need to go.

"Yeah." Quentin responded softly.

Could something have happened? Lauren started to worry, and her woman's intuition kicked in.

"What are you busy with?" Lauren asked.

Hearing Lauren's questions early in the morning, Quentin felt like he was being monitored and became a bit impatient. "Work stuff. I have to go, bye."

"I..." Lauren didn't have time to finish before she heard the busy tone on the other end of the line.

Lauren felt a bit panicked.

Could it be related to Odette?

Thinking of this, Lauren couldn't stay calm anymore. She immediately got out of bed and started getting ready.

Quentin's reaction just now was already a bit angry. If she rushed over there, it would definitely upset him. And if he was really just busy with work, she would seem too petty.

So Lauren decided to find a suitable reason for herself. Her eyes fell on the refrigerator in the kitchen. A delicious lunch would show her domestic skills and express her love for Quentin.

Besides, she was still the director of the design department at Robinson Conglomerate.

The more she thought about it, the more Lauren straightened her back.

After preparing lunch for Quentin, Lauren went to Robinson Conglomerate.

But she didn't expect that there was someone else in his office. Because she had mentally prepared herself, Lauren wasn't too surprised.

"Odette?" Lauren called softly.

With a calm smile on her face, Lauren naturally walked to Quentin's side and placed the lunchbox on the table.

"What are you doing here?" This was a wife's declaration of authority and dignity.

"Quentin asked me to come." Odette's sweet smile easily defeated all of Lauren's defenses.

"That's right." Quentin, organizing his documents, said to Lauren, "She'll be working under you from now on. Make sure to take care of her."

"What?" Assigning someone to her without notice, and it was Odette.Lauren's face showed a hint of impatience.

Noticing the change in Lauren's expression, Quentin continued to explain, "Odette has studied fine arts in Weitela for many years. She has deep artistic and literary skills, which will save you a lot of trouble at work."

"I studied in Paris for many years too," Lauren muttered softly.

"I know." Quentin pulled Lauren into his arms." But you studied architecture, which complements Odette's skills. Wouldn't it be nice to lighten your workload?"

Who knew what Quentin's real intentions were?

Although Lauren thought this, hearing Quentin speak so gently to her made her reluctant to say more. She didn't want to seem unreasonable.

"Alright." Lauren chose to compromise.

After agreeing with Quentin, Lauren took Odette to the design department. "Everyone, this is our new team member starting today, Odette Foster."

Hearing the introduction from Director Lauren, everyone stopped what they were doing and stood up to warmly welcome Odette with applause.

"She's a pretty girl."

"Yes, she is."

Odette handled the compliments with ease, giving a slight bow and saying softly, "Hello everyone, I'm Odette. I've been living in Weitela for many years and am not familiar with the company's procedures here. I'll be relying on all of you, so please bear with me."

"Of course not!" Faced with such a beauty, men usually find it hard to refuse.

"Ms. Walker, shouldn't we have a welcome party for the newcomer?" someone suggested.

"Great idea!" As soon as this was said, someone in the crowd responded, "I remember we had one for Ms. Walker when she joined, didn't we?"

Are these guys afraid she would refuse, so they brought this up to pressure Lauren?

Thinking of this, Lauren didn't know if they genuinely wanted to welcome Odette or just wanted an excuse to relax.

Forget it, she couldn't show favoritism.

"Alright." Lauren happily agreed to their suggestion.

Someone said, "Ms. Walker, why don't you invite Mr. Robinson too? We haven't seen him in a while."

Lauren smiled slightly, without any warmth or emotion, "Mr. Robinson is very busy with work; it's unlikely he'll be able to come."

Before Lauren could finish speaking, Odette chuckled softly, "Quentin will definitely come."

Someone asked, "What is their relationship?"

This statement caused quite a stir among the crowd.

Seeing the crowd start to chatter, Lauren asserted her authority as the director and sternly scolded, "Get back to work!"

"Yes." Seeing Lauren angry, everyone reluctantly dispersed.

Odette didn't say anything, just quietly followed Lauren to her office.

"What did you mean by that?" Lauren was really angry this time. Even as Quentin's wife, she couldn't guarantee his schedule. What right did Odette have to say such a thing?

"What did I say?" Odette looked extremely aggrieved, as if she genuinely didn't understand what Lauren meant.

"Forget it." Lauren didn't want to argue with Odette anymore. She waved her hand to dismiss her. "Your desk is over there."

"Okay, Ms. Walker." Odette said.

Just as Odette reached the door, she turned back and smiled at Lauren, "If you're worried about what I said earlier, you can relax. Quentin has never refused any of my requests."

With that, Odette finally left.

That sentence was like a sharp blade, deeply piercing Lauren's heart.

'Is he really that good to her? Is it just because Odette once saved his life?' The more Lauren thought about it, the sadder she felt.

Compared to Odette, who was more important in Quentin's eyes? Lauren didn't know the answer and didn't dare to think about it.
