Chapter 354 Another Woman
By noon the next day, Lauren groggily woke up from her sleep. She looked at Quentin, who was still sleeping soundly beside her, and felt an indescribable happiness. "We've been through so much, and finally, we're back together."
Thinking this, Lauren leaned down and gently kissed Quentin on the forehead.
Just as she kissed him, Quentin suddenly opened his eyes, grabbed Lauren's arm, and with a swift move, pinned her beneath him.
"You're awake?" Lauren asked in surprise.
"With a wake-up call like that, it's hard not to be." Quentin, having just been kissed awake, was eager to bring Lauren more joy.
No sooner had he spoken than Quentin's hand slipped under Lauren's nightgown, moving up her thigh.
At that moment, Quentin's phone suddenly rang. Lauren interrupted him, pointing to the phone on the table.
"Ignore it," Quentin said, lowering his head to nibble on Lauren's ear.
"It's annoying." Seeing that Quentin wasn't moving, Lauren pushed him away and got up to pick up the phone.
"Odette." Seeing a woman's name on the screen, Lauren couldn't help but feel a bit jealous.
Noticing Lauren's anger, Quentin was puzzled.
"What's wrong?" Quentin asked as he took back his phone and saw what was going on.
"Are you jealous?" Quentin laughed, hung up the phone, and pulled Lauren back into his arms. "She's a girl I knew from the orphanage. We got along well, and with the company's sponsorship, she went abroad to study art a few years ago."
"The Robinson Family sure helps a lot of girls." Although Lauren was still a bit upset, Quentin's explanation made it hard for her to stay angry.
Lauren was about to say more when the phone rang again. This time, she was genuinely angry and flopped back onto the bed, covering her face with the blanket.
"Hello?" Quentin answered the call, worried that Odette might have an emergency.
"Quentin, I'm back." Odette Foster's sweet, slightly immature voice came through the phone. She sounded young, probably four years younger than Lauren, in the prime of her youth.
Although Quentin wasn't on speakerphone, Lauren still heard it which made her even more uneasy.
'If she's here to take Quentin away, she'll be much harder to deal with than Sophia was,' Lauren thought, feeling a bit anxious but then chiding herself for being paranoid.
Lauren thought, 'What are you thinking? She's just a kid.'
"Okay, I got it." Quentin hung up the phone and started getting dressed.
"What's going on?" Lauren asked anxiously, seeing Quentin about to leave.
"Odette's back. We haven't seen each other in years, and she wants to catch up," Quentin said as he got dressed.
"Then I want to go too." For some reason, Lauren felt particularly uneasy about this Odette she hadn't met yet.
Knowing Lauren was jealous, Quentin agreed. He remembered how he felt when she was angry with him over Ethan. "Alright, you two will have to meet eventually."
This time, Lauren took extra care in getting ready. She let her slightly wavy hair fall over her shoulders and wore a light green trench coat, looking both gentle and intellectual.
Understanding Lauren's feelings, Quentin said nothing, just gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead.
They had been sitting in the coffee shop for less than five minutes when a woman walked in, accompanied by the sound of the door chime.
She wore a simple yet elegant white dress. Her waist-length hair and silver earrings accentuated her long neck. Her fine eyebrows and lively eyes made her look like a fairy.
"She's beautiful." Although Lauren had never met Odette, she guessed that this stunning woman must be her.
"Quentin." Odette greeted Quentin with a bright, cheerful wave.
Seeing this, Lauren felt ashamed of her earlier thoughts and a bit insecure.
Odette sat across from Quentin and looked at Lauren. "And who is this?"
"I've never mentioned my personal life to you. This is my wife, Lauren Walker," Quentin introduced openly. "You can just call her Lauren."
"Quentin, what are you talking about? How could I be formal?" Odette smiled sweetly, got up, and sat next to Lauren, linking arms with her. "We don't seem to be that far apart in age."
Odette looked at Lauren, nodding approvingly. "Can I call you Lauren? You're absolutely stunning."
"Sure." Lauren felt a bit embarrassed by Odette's compliments.
Odette was not only beautiful but also very approachable, making it hard for Lauren to refuse her. After just a few words, Lauren had already decided to befriend Odette.
"Lauren, I haven't introduced myself yet," Odette said with a smile. "I'm Odette Foster. You can just call me Odette."
Odette looked at Quentin and said softly, "Quentin gave me this name. Over the years, he's helped me a lot. Without him, I wouldn't be where I am today."
Lauren noticed the sadness in Odette's eyes and held her hand tightly to comfort her. "Don't worry, Odette. From now on, I'll take good care of you, like my own sister."
"Oh my gosh!" Odette exclaimed, covering her mouth in surprise, then hugged Lauren tightly. "I'm so happy!"
Odette then pulled Lauren up and turned to Quentin. "Quentin, I'm borrowing Lauren for a bit. I'll return her later."
Understanding Odette's intention, Lauren said to Quentin, "I'll go with her for a while."
"Okay." Quentin nodded, watching Odette and Lauren leave.
Quentin hesitated, wondering whether he should tell Lauren more about Odette.
