Chapter 131 A Formidable Enemy

Grandma Robinson lay weakly on the sick bed. During the chaos, she had been more concerned about Lauren than herself. Now that she had come to her senses, the pain from the fracture was unbearable.

"Grandma, I'm sorry. It's all because of me." Lauren stood by the bed, filled with guilt and remorse.

Grandma Robinson looked at her with deep affection. "Dear, my injury has nothing to do with you. Don't cry. If you cry yourself sick, I'll be even more worried," Grandma Robinson said lovingly.

Lauren quickly wiped away her tears, but they kept coming.

She knew that Grandma Robinson's health was not good, and this accident only made things worse for her. It was all her fault for being so useless and dragging Grandma Robinson into this.

"Grandma, don't worry. I will stay with you and make sure you're never alone," Lauren said, smiling through her tears.

Grandma Robinson nodded with a smile. "Alright, thanks, dear. No need to crowd around me now. I'm a bit tired and want to sleep for a while."

Grandma Robinson was sending them away. The doctor had already informed her of her condition, and she wanted some quiet time to adjust her mood.

Lauren glanced at Quentin, who nodded in understanding.

"Okay, Grandma, we'll wait outside. If you need anything, call me!" Lauren tucked Grandma Robinson in before leaving the room.

Lauren felt heavy-hearted. She saw that Grandma Robinson seemed indifferent to the incident, but she knew that deep down, Grandma Robinson must care a lot.

Although Lauren couldn't fully understand how Grandma Robinson felt about her aging body, she guessed it must be very distressing.

'The helplessness and powerlessness in the face of reality must be quite despairing. But what could I do to share Grandma Robinson's burden? I really don't know,' she thought.

Quentin noticed Lauren's thoughts. Not wanting her to feel guilty, he spoke up, "It's not your fault but mine."

Lauren looked up sharply, seeing the sorrow in Quentin's eyes, which made her feel even worse.

"No, it's my problem. I know those reporters are after me. They're trying to dig up dirt that's not even true. Why do they say such things?" Lauren said.

Lauren was conflicted and upset. If the issue with Wendy and her hadn't come out at this time, Grandma Robinson wouldn't have been injured, and their banquet would have gone smoothly!

Quentin's gaze turned thoughtful. He knew today's incident was far from simple.

During the interview, the email was sent to all reporters right on time, so the person behind this was definitely not ordinary.

It was very likely that the mastermind was targeting Quentin, aiming at the Robinson Conglomerate.

"Lauren," Quentin suddenly called her name.

"What is it?" Lauren replied.

"I'm very sorry that things turned out this way today. I don't make thorough preparations, making it implicate you and Grandma," Quentin said sorrowfully, thinking of Grandma Robinson's earlier condition, which filled him with heartache and guilt.

"No, Quentin, you've done enough. Today was just an accident. Don't be sad or blame yourself," Lauren said, her heart breaking to see him this way.

In truth, this was no accident at all.

They both felt guilty about Grandma Robinson's injury. Quentin was racking his brain to figure out who was responsible, and finally, he narrowed it down to one name.

Noah came rushing over, flustered. "Quentin, how's Grandma? I'm sorry I'm late."

"She has a fracture. She might never stand again," Quentin relayed Grandma Robinson's condition truthfully.

"That is serious! After you left, I immediately started investigating. It turns out the information the reporters received came from Pixel Park. I found it suspicious and dug deeper. Sure enough, I find some clues. Quentin, can you guess who the mastermind is?" Noah threw out the question, wanting to test Quentin.

"Anthony Clark," Quentin softly uttered a name.

"So, you have already guessed it," Noah said, his initial shock giving way to a serious expression. "So, what's your plan now?"

Lauren, standing nearby, was utterly confused. "Mr. Martin, who is Anthony Clark? What's his connection to all this? Can you explain in detail? I want to know the truth and help."

Quentin turned to Lauren and said, "This was orchestrated by a man named Anthony. He's the arch-enemy of the Robinson Conglomerate, always wanting to replace us as the top company in City A. But he's dreaming. I'll make sure he wakes up from it soon."

"Anthony, I remember now. He's the president of Clark Conglomerate," Lauren recalled the name after some effort.

Like Quentin, Anthony was a prominent figure in City A. Clark Conglomerate was the only company in City A that could rival Robinson Conglomerate.

In recent years, Lauren had often seen Anthony in the entertainment news. She never imagined he would one day be involved in her life.

Quentin responded coolly, "Since Anthony is using such underhanded tactics to try to bring me down, we must respond accordingly. Noah, let's discuss our strategy here in the hospital. I want to stay close to Grandma."

Noah understood. With Grandma Robinson's condition, he, too, was worried and heartbroken.

"Quentin, there's another person involved—Wendy's agent, James. According to my investigation, James was fired by his agency because of Wendy's scandal. He holds a grudge against you and Lauren. So, James deliberately approached Clark Conglomerate and sold all the information about Wendy and any internal secrets he knew to Anthony," Noah continued.

"Interesting," Quentin said, his eyes narrowing and a faint smile playing on his lips.

Lauren knew that look meant trouble for James.

"In any case, tonight's chaos was Anthony's doing. Quentin, I hope you can return soon. Tomorrow's headlines won't be kind, and it'll hit our stock. So, be prepared," Noah said, worried. This incident had disrupted all their plans, and with Quentin's career and family in turmoil, he hoped Quentin could withstand it.

"I understand. I'll have Cecilia bring my work here. I'll handle everything tonight," Quentin said thoughtfully. He couldn't bear to leave Grandma Robinson now, knowing it would haunt him forever.
