Chapter 451 Became Different

After the two returned to the ward, it wasn't long before Odette woke up from the sedative.

She had been so agitated earlier that the doctor had to give her an injection.

Lauren carefully observed her expression.

The confusion in her eyes when she first opened them didn't seem fake, so Lauren temporarily set aside her suspicions.

"Odette, do you know who we are?" Lauren asked gently, not wanting to startle her.

The doctor had mentioned that Odette's mental age might be very young now, so Lauren tried to approach her with as much kindness as possible to avoid upsetting her again.

Odette instinctively looked in Lauren's direction, her face blank. "Who are you? Ma'am, you're really pretty."

After saying that, Odette gave Lauren a sweet smile, which made Lauren even more certain that Odette wasn't faking her amnesia.

Given how much Odette used to dislike her, she wouldn't be trying to please her on purpose.

"Thank you, you're very pretty too. Odette, do you not remember us?"

Seeing that Odette wasn't rejecting her, Lauren subtly moved closer and sat by her bedside, pulling Quentin along with her.

Odette seriously studied Lauren and Quentin's faces. She paused slightly when she first saw Quentin, but quickly looked away.

"Ma'am, I don't know you. You just called me Odette. Is that my name?"

Lauren and Quentin exchanged a glance.

Quentin nodded at Lauren, so she began to carefully recount Odette's past, omitting many of the bad things Odette had done.

With such an innocent smile, Lauren wanted to protect her.

"So I accidentally fell off a cruise ship? Are you my family? I feel so close to you."

Odette, like a little girl, burrowed into Lauren's arms.

Lauren hadn't expected this and instinctively hugged her, explaining, "No, I'm Quentin's wife."

"Quentin?"

Odette curiously peeked out from Lauren's embrace, sneaking a glance at Quentin before quickly looking away, like a mischievous child.

Then, Odette cupped her hands around her mouth and whispered in Lauren's ear, "Why does he look so fierce? He's good-looking, but too cold. You must feel wronged marrying him."

She gave Lauren a sympathetic look after speaking.

She thought she was speaking quietly, but she didn't realize Quentin could hear everything clearly in the same room.

Lauren stifled a laugh and glanced at Quentin, then looked at Odette seriously. "It is a bit tough. He's not romantic at all and often doesn't know why I'm upset."

"Is he my brother? We don't look alike at all." Odette pouted, seemingly displeased with Quentin.

"He's not your biological brother. He adopted you. Odette, do you not remember any of this?"

Lauren had thought Odette might remember Quentin a little, but it seemed she had completely forgotten him.

For Odette, this might be a good thing.

"I only remember some things from the orphanage. Everything after that is very blurry." Odette touched her head in confusion, looking a bit adorable.

Lauren quickly grabbed her hand to prevent her from touching her wound.

"Don't touch it. You still have a head injury," Lauren gently reminded Odette.

The two women, who used to be at odds, now got along harmoniously in the same room, even becoming quite close, leaving Quentin feeling ignored.

Quentin watched the two women chatting happily and felt inexplicably annoyed. He strode over, grabbed Lauren's wrist, and started to leave. "Let's go."

"No, where are you going?" Odette quickly reacted, tightly holding onto Lauren and refusing to let her go.

The two seemed to be in a tug-of-war, leaving Lauren both amused and exasperated.

In the end, Odette let go.

Under her reluctant gaze, Lauren promised to come back and keep her company the next morning.

Sitting in the car on the way back to the villa, Lauren kept smiling to herself.

Quentin forced her to look at him. "Are you that happy? Aren't you afraid she's faking amnesia to deceive you?"

"You're too much of a conspiracy theorist. Odette is so adorable now. There's no way she could fake this."

Unconsciously, Lauren started defending Odette.

Quentin smiled at her, his eyes filled with affection.

As they neared home, Lauren suddenly sighed and leaned on Quentin's shoulder, looking a bit wistful. "I wish she could stay amnesiac forever."

Quentin understood what she meant and quietly held her. Neither of them spoke.

Quentin and Lauren returned to the Robinson Family Villa, where Kimberly had already been brought by Quentin's men.

As soon as Kimberly saw Lauren, she became very emotional and ran towards her. "Lauren, are you okay?"

"Mom, I'm fine."

Lauren hugged Kimberly with equal emotion.

Although it had only been a few days, it felt like an eternity to Lauren.

Quentin knew they had a lot to talk about and felt it was inappropriate for him to stay. "You two chat. I have some things to take care of upstairs."

Lauren nodded.

Kimberly's gaze towards Quentin was complicated.

After he left, she quickly grabbed Lauren and asked, "Why are you with him again? Have you forgotten what he did to you before? Lauren, you can't be so forgiving and easily let people off."

"Mom, you misunderstood what happened before." Lauren, who couldn't help but laugh, explained everything to Kimberly.

After hearing the whole story, most of the wariness in Kimberly's eyes faded, but she still looked a bit uneasy.

"Are you sure you want to stay with Quentin? Lauren, there's a lot of drama around him. He might not be the best for you."

Lauren tightly held Kimberly's hands, her face beaming with happiness. "I know, Mom, but I don't care. As long as I can be with him, I can face any challenge."

Seeing Lauren's determination, Kimberly sighed helplessly. "Alright, it's your choice. Of course, I'll support you. If he ever mistreats you, come to me anytime."

With Quentin's help, Kimberly had reopened her beauty salon.

Quentin generously provided several storefronts, all in prime locations downtown.

He even thoughtfully found staff for Kimberly, allowing her to comfortably manage the business.

Kimberly noticed all of Quentin's actions, and any lingering doubts she had about him gradually disappeared.
