Chapter 330 Seizing the Opportunity to Persuade

Hearing that, Lauren thought, 'So, is Noah trying to give Quentin a heads-up? What's all this about?'

Lauren was totally overwhelmed by Quentin's words.

He was telling her that she was the one he had always truly loved, and even Noah knew it.

Seeing Lauren just standing there, Quentin gently took her hands and asked, "Lauren, now that I've lost everything, will you still love me?"

Hearing Quentin's words, Lauren covered her face and started crying uncontrollably.

"What's wrong? Why are you crying?" Quentin was caught off guard by Lauren's sudden emotional outburst.

"Quentin, do you regret ever knowing me?" Lauren asked through her sobs. "I feel like I've only brought you bad luck. I made Jessica mad, got you hurt, turned you and Noah against each other, and even made you lose Robinson Conglomerate. It's all my fault. I feel like a jinx." After saying this, Lauren cried even harder.

Quentin was both touched and amused by Lauren's heartfelt words.

"So that's why you're crying. What's done is done. The past doesn't matter anymore," Quentin said softly, trying to comfort her.

Hearing Quentin's words, Lauren felt even more guilty.

Seeing Lauren like this, Quentin suddenly had an idea.

Why not use this chance to make Lauren stay by his side?

Quentin suggested, "Now that I lost everything because of you, you should take the responsibility for me."

Hearing Quentin say this so casually, Lauren was too shocked to cry.

Lauren thought, 'Is he serious or just messing with me?'

She tried to figure out Quentin's intentions, tentatively asking, "Are you asking me to take care of you? I'm also broke. I can't provide the kind of lifestyle you're used to."

Hearing that Lauren didn't outright reject him, Quentin replied, "It's fine."

She thought, 'He must be joking.'

Lauren quickly recalled Quentin's daily routine. If he wasn't working, he would have an expensive breakfast, and then enjoy lunch and dinner at Michelin-starred restaurants.

No way she could take care of Quentin.

Seeing Lauren stay silent, Quentin asked, "I ended up like this because of you. You wouldn't be so heartless, would you?"

Lauren pouted as she glanced at Quentin. She had been worried that Quentin might be deeply affected by Noah's betrayal.

But seeing Quentin like this, it seemed like he was fine and just kept asking her to take responsibility for him.

Lauren couldn't help but think about the truth of Quentin's claim that Noah had taken over Robinson Conglomerate. But after thinking it over, she realized it was hard to fake such a thing.

Lauren couldn't think of a reason for Quentin to lie to her, so she temporarily set that possibility aside.

'Maybe he really just wants me to stay,' she thought, feeling a bit of sweetness in her otherwise bitter heart.

"Where's Sophia? Why haven't I seen her?" she asked.

Sophia was the person Lauren was most bothered by. When Sophia got engaged to Quentin, Lauren felt a rift in her heart.

No matter what, Quentin was now an engaged man.

If Sophia or anyone else found out she was with Quentin, she would definitely become the target of gossip.

Moreover, it seemed more reasonable for Sophia to take care of Quentin. Sophia could probably take better care of him. She might even be able to persuade Noah to return the shares of Robinson Conglomerate, whereas all Lauren could do was worry and be anxious.

"I haven't officially completed the engagement ceremony with her, so she doesn't count as my fiancée. You don't need to worry so much," Quentin said, feeling a sense of satisfaction seeing Lauren so concerned.

"But..." Lauren hesitated.

Before Lauren could finish, Quentin interrupted her, "I'm hungry, especially for your cooking."

"Okay," Lauren was reminded that Quentin had told her he was hungry earlier. She immediately forgot what she was going to ask Quentin.

So Lauren put on her apron again and went to the kitchen to start preparing dinner for Quentin.

Fortunately, the house was still there; otherwise, she wouldn't know where Quentin would stay.

Lauren opened the fridge, which was still stocked with all kinds of ingredients.

It was as if they had been waiting for someone to cook them.

Lauren didn't think too much and started preparing the ingredients seriously.

Quentin had always had the same taste as her, preferring lighter flavors, which made cooking easier for Lauren. At least she could cook according to her own preferences.

When she was with Ethan, his taste was a bit heavier, so Lauren had to make two different dishes.

Lauren didn't know why she compared Quentin to Ethan.

She shook her head, reminding herself not to think about it anymore.

The next moment, she accidentally noticed that Quentin was already standing beside her.

"What's wrong?" Lauren asked nervously, involuntarily stuttering.

She blushed, silently scolding herself for not being more composed.

Quentin was amused by Lauren's cute reaction, replying softly, "Nothing, just wanted to see you cook for me."

"Having someone watch me makes me nervous," Lauren lowered her head, not daring to look at Quentin. She thought he must be laughing at her.

"It's okay," Quentin gently hugged Lauren's waist from behind. "You'll get used to it."

Lauren didn't know whether to refuse or not, so she chose to remain silent, letting Quentin hold her.

'Just think of it as compensating him,' Lauren found comfort within herself.
