Chapter 436 Unbearable

Odette was startled by Lauren's sudden outburst, her face showing a hint of panic as the soup spilled onto her. Her once charming face now looked terrifyingly dark.

"Are you out of your mind, Lauren?"

Odette had never been humiliated like this before. The surrounding servants were all watching eagerly, curious to see what would happen next.

Odette glanced at Quentin, who was observing coldly from the side.

Seeing Quentin's lack of reaction, she guessed that he must despise Lauren.

Wiping the soup off herself, Odette picked up a piece of dog food and examined it closely, then said nonchalantly, "Lauren, this dog food was in your bowl. Why are you taking it out on me? Are you jealous of me being with Quentin and having nowhere else to vent? You're being unreasonable."

Odette's entire demeanor exuded a quality that Lauren found repulsive, and this display only made Lauren want to avoid her even more.

Lauren's anger flared up instantly. Pointing at Odette, she said harshly, "Odette, stop playing dumb!"

Lauren had seen Odette's act before.

Odette put on an innocent face and, raising an eyebrow mockingly, said, "You're wrong. I don't know what you're talking about. You're falsely accusing me. Quentin is right here. How can you ignore the facts?"

Odette's eyes were full of smugness as she looked at Lauren.

After changing her clothes, Odette hadn't returned to the hall but had gone to the kitchen instead.

She believed Quentin's displeasure was caused by Lauren and Violette, who had ruined the entire afternoon's shoot, leaving Odette to smile alone.

Odette blamed everything on Lauren and had no intention of letting her off the hook.

The kitchen staff recognized Odette, who had been tipping them generously these past few days.

As soon as they saw her, they gathered around, eager to please.

"You've all done a great job these days, but Violette is an example. You've seen it. I know everyone disapproves of Lauren's actions, but you've all seen how vicious her methods are."

Odette spoke brazenly, and the opportunistic staff immediately echoed her sentiments.

Seeing their reaction, Odette was very satisfied. This was the effect she wanted. She continued, "Don't end up like Violette."

Odette's seemingly concerned words were meant to prevent the staff from being as foolish as Violette.

Deep down, Odette looked down on these sycophants. They lacked culture and intelligence, deserving of being servants for life.

"So what should we do?"

Hearing someone ask, Odette gave a sinister smile, took out a bag of dog food from her pocket, and said smugly, "You can defend against open attacks, but not hidden ones. Just serve the meals as usual. Whether she eats it or not is her business. You know what to do with tonight's dishes, right?"

Odette left after giving her instructions, not wanting Quentin to find out.

The servants, following Odette's orders, diligently placed the soup with dog food in front of Lauren.

Seeing Lauren disgusted by the dog food, Odette couldn't have been more pleased.

Putting on a pitiful act, she said with a tearful voice, "Besides, the soup was ladled from the same pot. Why is it only in yours? Admit it, you're just upset that Quentin is good to me and is looking for trouble."

Odette's unreasonable behavior pushed Lauren to her limit. She slapped Odette hard, the sound echoing through the hall and stunning everyone.

Lauren looked at Odette expressionlessly, not even wanting to waste words on her.

Before Odette could react, another slap followed.

The two slaps left Odette's face burning, with red handprints on her once fair skin.

Quentin, watching from the side, was also shocked by Lauren's intensity.

Odette covered her face in humiliation. "You dare to hit me!"

Lauren, no longer willing to endure Odette's actions, grabbed a water glass from the table and poured it over Odette's head. Coldly, she said, "This is the last time, Odette. I'm warning you again, don't mess with me. I'm not afraid to go all the way."

As Lauren spoke, she coldly scanned the surrounding servants.

These servants, emboldened by Odette's backing and her occasional favors, had turned Lauren's life from that of a princess to a prisoner.

Feeling Lauren's gaze, the servants exchanged uneasy glances, not daring to speak, each lowering their heads, afraid Lauren would come after them.

Odette looked down at her once elegant dress, now stained with soup and dog food, her hair dripping wet. Unable to bear it any longer, she glared at Lauren, raising her hand to strike, but Lauren caught it mid-air, stopping her.

"What's wrong? Now you know how it feels to be humiliated? Remember, I'm not someone you can trample on. Until you've been doused in filth, you'll never know how disgusting it feels."

Quentin watched Lauren quietly, surprised that Odette could push Lauren to such extremes.

Odette's face turned red with anger, unable to say a word. She thought, 'Is Lauren calling me disgusting?'

Reflecting on Lauren's words, Odette grew increasingly agitated. With dozens of eyes on her, she lost her composure.

No longer pretending to be weak, Odette revealed her true nature, viciously kicking Lauren in the stomach with all her strength.

Feeling the pain, Lauren's grip loosened, giving Odette the chance to scratch Lauren's delicate face, leaving three red marks.

Odette didn't intend to stop, wanting to torment Lauren further.

But Lauren wasn't about to give her the chance. She grabbed Odette's head, trying to control her movements, but Odette's strength was overwhelming, and she had lost all reason.

Grabbing Lauren's shoulder with her left hand, Odette pushed hard, causing Lauren to lose her balance and fall heavily to the ground.

Odette, eyes red with rage, pinned Lauren down.

Quentin, who had been watching the scene unfold, felt a pang of concern seeing Lauren pinned under Odette. His brow furrowed with displeasure, and he deliberately knocked the tableware to the floor.
