Chapter 453 The Child's Biological Father

Lauren stepped out of the car, the ocean breeze gently blowing away the fatigue of the day.

The sand beneath her feet was incredibly soft, like the finest silk.

"Where'd you find this place? All the beaches I've been to before were crowded and boring."

Feeling unusually cheerful, Lauren started chatting with Quentin.

Quentin looked at Lauren's happy profile, a smile in his eyes. "This beach is owned by Robinson Conglomerate. Without permission, no one dares to come here."

"Ah, the perks of being rich."

Lauren pretended to sigh dramatically, then turned to see Odette cowering near the car, too scared to come over.

Lauren waved at her.

"Odette, what are you doing over there? Come on, the sand here feels amazing."

After Lauren's repeated urging, Odette slowly walked towards her.

But the closer Odette got to the ocean, the more resistant she became, trembling all over by the time she reached Lauren.

She clutched Lauren's hand, her voice quivering with tears. "Lauren, let's go. I'm really scared."

"Odette, are you afraid of the ocean?"

Lauren thought this was the only explanation that made sense.

Odette had fallen into the sea, and even though she had lost her memory, the fear of death couldn't be erased.

Lauren hugged her sympathetically.

"If you're so scared, we won't look at the ocean. Let's go back."

Lauren turned to leave with Odette, but Quentin blocked their way, his gaze stern. "She can't leave yet."

"What do you want, Quentin? Can't you see Odette is terrified? Can we discuss this back home?"

Lauren was genuinely angry, and Quentin's eyes darkened slightly.

It seemed Lauren hadn't realized how much Odette was affecting her, which was not a good sign.

"Don't you remember what the doctor said?"

Quentin's gaze swept over the frightened Odette, but her vulnerability didn't stir any pity in him.

To Lauren, Quentin's actions seemed heartless.

"I don't care what the doctor said, Quentin. I don't want to argue with you right now. I'm taking Odette back. Move aside."

Under Lauren's angry shout, Quentin seemed to compromise, stepping aside without further obstruction as Lauren passed.

But just as Lauren was about to get into the car, Quentin suddenly said, "Don't you want to know who the biological father of Odette's baby is?"

The light remark froze Lauren.

She turned to Quentin, surprise in her eyes. "Isn't the baby yours?"

Quentin laughed unexpectedly. "Lauren, when did I ever say the baby was mine?"

"That can't be right." Lauren was completely stunned. "If it's not yours, how could Odette be pregnant with someone else's child? Quentin, are you trying to shirk responsibility? She has amnesia now, so you can say whatever you want."

Quentin paused, frowning seriously. "Lauren, is that really how you see me?"

Lauren realized she had misspoken and didn't dare mention taking Odette back.

Fortunately, Quentin didn't hold it against her.

"Anyway, if you want to know who the biological father of her baby is, bring her back. Then the truth will come out."

Lauren's gaze shifted between Quentin and Odette.

Finally, she made a difficult decision.

She hugged Odette and slowly approached Quentin, her palms sweating from nervousness, though she didn't notice.

It felt like an eternity, but Lauren finally reached Quentin's side. "Now, will you tell me the truth?"

With a gesture from Quentin, Felix appeared, dragging a man towards them.

The man struggled constantly, but he was no match for the well-trained Felix.

As they got closer, Lauren was shocked to see that the man was Declan.

"Declan? How could it be you? Is Odette's baby yours?"

Lauren's voice was distorted with surprise.

Declan's wrists were tightly twisted behind him by Felix, his face contorted in pain.

He snarled, "It's not mine. It's Mr. Robinson's. Mr. Robinson doesn't want to admit it, so he's blaming me."

Quentin sneered. "I never realized you were such a coward, Declan. Doing something and not owning up to it. Are you even a man?"

Declan's expression darkened, his body stiffening momentarily.

Lauren, sharp-eyed, caught his unnatural reaction, confirming he was lying.

But she couldn't understand how Odette could have been with Declan. Wasn't her heart solely for Quentin?

Quentin casually kicked Declan. "Still not planning to tell the truth?"

"I have nothing to say. If Mr. Robinson doesn't want to admit Odette's baby, then let it be mine."

Declan tried to provoke a rift between Lauren and Quentin, but his clumsy trick was seen through by both.

Almost as soon as Declan finished speaking, he received a heavy blow to the abdomen.

Felix released him, and Declan was kicked far away, clutching his stomach, unable to stand.

"You had your chance, but you chose to lie. Now, keep your mouth shut."

Quentin took out his phone and played a video for Lauren.

The video showed Declan and Odette kissing passionately in an alley.

Odette, too scared of the ocean, didn't look up, but Lauren saw everything.

In the video, Declan and Odette were kissing intensely, later getting into a car. What happened next was obvious.

Declan's expression turned grim. He hadn't expected Quentin to find such a video, but he was unwilling to give up.

"So what? Does this prove Odette's baby is mine? Mr. Robinson, you have no involvement at all?"
